Hi everyone.
Last week we noticed a couple of articles that were published online saying that filming was nearly complete on Sherlock S3E3, and that the series would broadcast on the BBC on October 31. We've had the articles shared with us across our social accounts, and we'd just like to give you the actual, accurate information on the status of Sherlock Series 3.
Filming is currently on a break until late July - verified to us by both producer Sue Vertue and production designer Arwel Jones, with both Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman away working on other projects - Martin for example is, at this very moment, back in New Zealand wearing a pair of large hairy feet again. (Well, maybe not RIGHT now, but he is filming additional material for The Hobbit.)
However, post production is underway on the two episodes that have been filmed already, with directors Jeremy Lovering and Colm McCarthy hard at work in the edit suite on their respective installments, while David Arnold and Michael Price - Composer have begun writing the music for S3E1: The Empty Hearse.
With the late summer restart for filing on the third episode, an October first broadcast is thus extremely unlikely, though no dates have been officially announced as yet. As is standard practice the BBC cannot schedule the series until they have the finished or near finished product in hand, and with an entire episode left to film it's definitely too early to know exactly when Sherlock S3 can begin to air.
