Tusshar to make anti-smoking film

Actor Tusshar Kapoor has taken a vow to save the people from smoking. For achieving this aim, he is making a movie against smoking with the help of his family doctor and in association with Nargis Dutt Foundation. While Tusshar will produce the movie, his family doctor named Bhotra, would provide him the inputs, say, the theme material. Partho Mitra will direct it. The movie would be exhibited in schools, colleges and universities to propagate the dangerous effects of smoking. Tusshar says that the prevalent practice of showing an actor smoking to improve his image in Bollywood movies motivated him to make this film. Moreover, he may show this movie on the small screen as well.

Akshaye Khanna deviates

Akshaye Khanna is a sticker of principles in life. He has taken a vow to do one film at a time, and that too after a careful thought. Since he has already signed 'Gandhi Ke Virudh Gandhi', he found himself in a dilemma if to sign his dear friend and director Priyadarshan's movie offer or not. It is learnt that he has signed Priyadarshan's comedy and found time for him. After all, he cannot afford to annoy a friend!

Suneil Shetty looking for funds

Suniel Shetty is doing well in his non-filmi business, but doesn't like to invest his money in films produced under his own company Popcorn Entertainment. At present, Shetty has about half a dozen films to produce, and, therefore, sought funds from his friend and a business tycoon Vijay Mallaya. However, Mallaya says that he doesn't want to invest in films. So, Shetty is seeking finance from another friend.

Tabu disappears

After her last 'Hawa', the 'Chandni Bar' girl Tabu has just disappeared from movies. According to sources close to her, she has decided to do either meaningful movies or to direct such movies. As a result, the producers and the directors have been keeping a distance from her. Industry circles wonder if she would get meaningful movies to direct in the near future.

Preity Zinta ready to expose

Preity Zinta known for her anti-bold film attitude has, however, agreed to join the modern trend for bold movies though with a heavy heart. According reports reaching us, Yash Chopra has persuaded her to do bold and sexy scenes in his next movie. Yashji hasn't disclosed the film's title though it would release next year only.

Aamir finds difficult to step with Daler

Punjabi Pop king Daler Mehndi is becoming popular among Hindi movies. Not in the distant past, Daler turned Big B into his great fan. This occurred when both danced together in Big B's home production. However, Aamir Khan found it difficult to dance with Daler Mehndi. Aamir Khan was seen dancing with Aamir Khan in Rakesh Mehta's 'Rang De Basanti Chola'. This dance was being picturised on a song sung by Aamir Khan. According to reports, while Daler followed the dance steps quickly and without much difficulty, Aamir Khan took four hours to okay this shot.

Fardeen to enter production

Fardeen Khan is in a dilemma these days because most of his recent films have flopped like Boney Kapoor's 'Khushi', Ram Gopal Verma's 'Bhoot' and home production 'Jaanasheen'. Besides, he has very few movies on hand. He is presently dependent on David Dhawan's comedy 'Shaadi Number One'. Fardeen says that his latest movie centers on a marriage story. However, he doesn't tell us about whose marriage and with whom. There are three pairs in the movie starring Fardeen, Sanjay Dutt and Zaved Khan with three girls -Esha Deol, Soha Ali Khan and Ayesha Takia. Fardeen doesn't want to be typecast with any particular image. Like his father Feroz Khan, Fardeen has decided to direct movies though after some time, but will meanwhile enter production sooner.

Rani avoids further gossips

The tinsel world is abuzz with the rumor that Khandala girl Rani Mukherjee quit Meera Nair's movie 'The Namesake' as Rani didn't like to enact hot scenes, including lip-locking with Junior B Abishek Bachchan in the movie as desired by Mira. Since reports about an affair between Rani and Abhishek are already there, especially after her performances with Big B in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Black' and with Junior Bachchan in 'Bunty Aur Bubli', Rani decided to quit Meera's movie. That's why Tabu is already shooting Rani's role in Meera's movie 'The Namesake' in New York.

Khandala girl Rani Mukherjee remained in limelight during the recent visit of Pakistani President General Parvez Mussaraf to India. She was one of the very few invitees to a special dinner hosted for the guest. It is learnt that Rani is the most popular Bollywood star in Lollywood (Pakistan) these days. Hence, she had been invited to meet Mussaraf family. This is to recall that Mussaraf's mother had shown keen interest in watching the movie 'Black', starring Rani Mukherjee. The Pakistan's President office had obtained its DVD for the President's mother. Rani is very exited these days as two of her recently released movies 'Veer- Zaara' and 'Black' have been hits. Besides, she is looking forward to her third 'The Rissing' to release soon. She also claims that her forthcoming movie 'Bunty Aur Babli' opposite Abhishek Bachchan will wipe out the stigma attached to her name that that she lacks sex appeal in movies.

Sush promoting boyfriend

Sushmita Sen is promoting her recent boyfriend Randeep Hooda of 'Moonsoon Wedding' fame. She has been saying from roof tops that she has seen the rushes of Ram Gopal Varma's forthcoming movie 'D'. However, she doesn't tell the people about the performance of Randeep. This way she is promoting her friend more than Ramu's movie. The viewers will finally decide about the fate of the movie irrespective of its promotion by any star.

How come the pretty girls of the tinsel world always fall for Salman Khan? Yes, it is true that Salman Khan is one of the few stars that can turn a film to be a hit. That's why all actresses are crazy to work with Salman Khan. 'Julie' girl Neeha Dhupia agreed to do a small role even in Suhail Khan's 'Fight Club' to come closer to Salman Khan. However, it is wondered if Neha will ever prove Sneha Ullal even if she comes close to Salman Khan.

Govinda losing grip in films

Govinda has indeed turned a politician. He has lost his grip over the film industry as he has had hardly any hit in the recent past. Hopefully, he has abandoned his ego that David Dhawan's comedy proved hits because of his presence. David Dhawan has proved it by making hits even without Govinda. Will Govinda realize it sooner than he loses his status in the film industry. However, we are keeping our fingers crossed about Govinda's forthcoming 'Sukh' and 'Ek Haseena Ek Deewana'.

Lara Dutta foresees bright future

Miss Universe Lara Dutta is hopeful of a great future for her. Starting with 'Andaaz' and following it with 'Mumbai Se Aaya Meera Dost' she mesmerized the viewers, both by her beauty and performance. However, she committed a mistake by acting with Bobby Deol and Akshay Kumar in their masala films that flopped at the box office. She remained a sort of showpiece in those movies, and earned bad name as compared to her contemporaries. She says that she is finding it difficult to establish her identity in movies in the midst of several actresses. But to remain in the industry she has to compromise by accepting such offers. So, she agreed to act in Boney Kapoor 'No Entry' and Soham Shah's 'Kaal'.

VIVEK WAITING FOR 'KAAL'S RESPONSE

Vivek Oberoi who had enough of masti in 'Masti' was disappointed with the viewers negative response to his 'Kyon Ho Gaya Na' and 'Kisna' (of Subhash Ghai) making no hangama at the box office. Meanwhile, he entered into the social work in the wake of tsunami tragedy, killing and displacing lakhs of people within and outside India. So, he devoted his full time in helping the tsunami victims in Tamil Nadu. However, his Tamil Nadu project ran into trouble because of the differences between the state chief minister Ms Jayalalitha and himself. Now, Vivek is banking on 'Kaal' being produced by Karan Johar and directed by Soham. Vivek's co-stars Ajay Devgan and John Abraham in 'Kaal' are optimistic about Vivek's future beginning with 'Kaal'.

Ajay says such bad phases do come in every actor's life. Ajay has worked with Vivek in 'Yuva'. John Abraham considers Vivek as the best actor. Significantly, Shekhar Kapoor has signed Vivek for his prestigious movie 'Paani'. Though Vivek has a few more offers in hand, he doesn't want to disclose them. He is awaiting the response to 'Kaal' that may decide his course of action. "The story of 'Kaal' is amazing.This is a new subject never touched before in any movie, " Vivek says. Yes, my character was changed in the movie. I was to play Kaali Pratap, who saves us from remaining trapped in the forest. Since this character needed to be an aged person, this role was later given to Ajay Devgan".

Zayed for challenging roles only

Star son Zayed Khan who entered Hindi films through 'Chura Liye Tumne' returned after a gap of two years in 'Main Hoon Naa'. "Since I am not dependent on films for my livelihood, so I can afford to be very choosy about the scripts." He doesn't mind doing one good film a year. His 'Shaadi Number One', a multistarrer, is releasing soon. " I did this movie because its script is very interesting though it has about half a dozen prominent artists. There are three pairs - Sanjay Dutt with Esha Deol, Fardeen Khan with Soha Ali and Ayesha Takia with me. Moreover, this is a comedy that provides equal role to all the artists. This is Vasu Bhagnani's production directed by David Dhawan. When asked about his any other movie, he said that he would soon be seen in Deepak Shivdasani's 'Idiot' opposite Celina Jaitley.

Sanjay Kapoor's bag full of films

Sanjay Kapoor, brother of Anil Kapoor, claims seniority over the newcomers. He began his career in 'Prem'. At present, he has several films on hand, including 'Sauda' and 'Why?Kyon'. "I am playing a gray shade character as Sanjay Singh's friend in 'Why - Kyon'. I accepted this movie as producer Sudhakar Bokade has come back and Partho Ghosh is directing it." However, Jayaprakash's 'Sauda' is just different, "I am playing the role of a youth in 'Sauda' (deal), who is the sole owner of a big business house. He considers that money is the biggest power on earth that can buy any thing. I look at Priti Jhingiani an exhibition and buy her from there." Then the drama begins. "I am acting for the first time with Aryan, Priti and Suman in 'Sauda - The Deal'. I am also doing two films 'Anjaane - The Unknown' and 'Kab Tak'.

Priti Jhingianani not out

Preity Jhinganani who began her career with super hit movie of the Yash Chopra camp 'Mohabbatein' with high hopes for her future, failed to continue maintain it in her next movies as they fell flat at the box office one after another. However, she is down but not out, and still hopes for bright prospects in the near future. She says, "I am doing Mahesh K Negi's 'Shrot' in the role of a scientist. Besides, I am acting in Alok Srivastav's 'Jaane Hoga Kya' in the role of a chirpy south Indian girl opposite chocolate boy of Bollywood Aftab Shivdasani. The movie is based on science fiction. My role is very glamorous. Apart from this, I am acting in Saurabh Shukla's 'Chehra' and Sanjay Thakur's 'Haseena' in am important role along with Isha Koppikar." When we brought to her notice that she has not yet got her due in the industry even after three years, she quipped, " I have just begun my career. I have yet to learn a lot in the industry." She is not averse to exposure though she wouldn't like to succumb to any pressure to thin her clothes without any justification.

Priyanka worries Twinkle

Why is Twinkle so worried? The reason is simple. The Akshay Kumar-Priyanka Chopra pair has done excellently well in films, so much so that their movies have proved hits. So every producer or the director wants to opt for this pair in his film. The pair began with 'Andaaz', followed by 'Mujhse Shaadi karogi', 'Aitraaj' and the recently released 'Waqt'. As reported earlier, this has annoyed Akshay's wife, Twinkle Khanna. She has been of late keeping a watch during and after the shoot on her husband. It is said that during the dubbing of 'Waqt', Twinkle reached there and asked her husband not to do any more film with Priyanka. Hence, Akshay declined the Darshan Brothers' offer to act in 'Barsaat'. Industry circles wonder as to how long Akshay can decline such offers.
