The Birthday Editorial: June - July 2012

Where do we even begin.. for what has been a truly joyful and jubilant June of 2012 for Lee Byung Hun & his legion of fans? It's finally the month when the inaugural Look East Korean Film Festival was held in Los Angeles USA with actors Ahn Sung Ki and Lee Byung Hun being their esteemed honorees, stamping their mark at the world-famous Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood where renowned stars left their hand & foot prints in once in a lifetime moment. Lee Byung Hun first thought when he was to be honored, it must be a joke -- I Could Not Believe My Hand Print Would Be in Hollywood. Well, believe it.. it's there now!

But before we get to that, fans were treated with such gorgeous, boyish and fun captures from the 1st Look Korean magazine entitled Man of the World for the cover guy.. who else but LBH, obviously. A stylish cool spread with BH donning an electric cyan-blue Bottega Veneta suit, a color that could not be more striking and so sexy.

In the meantime, Hyundai released an upclose interview with Lee Byung Hun called "My Brilliant Life". It was really sweet and frank interview by BH confessing his never-ending attempts to get his car licence which was no walk in the park. Our thanks to the tireless sharing and ardent translation of fans, we get to read about this interview in English even before the Korean media picked up on the tidbits.

An Ideal World Cup revelation from a former co-star and longtime friend Choi Ji Woo proved to be the sweet icing on a Beautiful cake. The actress picked LBH over drama leading man YSH to the shock and laughter of the fans at the 'Can't Lose' event. Cunning and cool Ji Woo-ssi.. but very sweet & bold, indeed.

Finally the day arrived when BH was leaving for LA for the fans to send off.. at the airport as well as on the internet when a trail of pics followed him all the way from Incheon to LAX. When interviewed by the media, the happy Hunnie commented that his pants were too tight but are the fans complaining. Harhar.. seriously nope! Not to be outdone, new Nautica fashion models Lee Byung Hun and Oh Yeon Seo simply sizzle in the teaser 2012 F/W ad shoot. Only one photo so far and we've been waiting ever since. Like.. palli palli!

Arriving in LA a few days earlier, BH made a heartwarming goodwill appearance at the Children's Hospital in LA for Hyundai as the mega Korean company handed a $75,000 grant "Hope on Wheels" donation to support childhood cancer research. Hearts simply melt seeing BH visiting and cheering the lovely children, making their day an extra special moment.

And finally, two of the best South Korean actors Lee Byung Hun and Ahn Sung Ki left their hand & footprints on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, the utterly popular tourists spot at Grauman's Chinese Theater. Congratulations and so well deserved! Even though we felt that there were not very wide coverage -- mostly by the fans and Korean movie enthusiasts, it is still the best and most memorable moment for Lee Byung Hun, his family, friends and fans. A great speech and loads of cool captures plus his significant touch of Hangul stating "South Korean Actor Lee Byung Hun' on the hand & foot print really strike a truly proud moment for his countrymen and fans everywhere.

A little fashion-policing of our own when we saw LBH wearing a wristwatch on the day he left for LA and throughout his stay there. Why were we intrigued by the watch.. perhaps because BH hasn't been wearing one for the longest time unless it's for work -- acting or modelling. We had a bit of fan talk.. could be a watch belonging to his late father since it looked rather vintage. We really like this to be the case as BH's father was the main influence for him being an ardent actor, wishing that his father was there in LA. Alas.. our assumption was far from the actual reason.. it was a sponsored high-end Jaeger-LeCoultre, no less. Oh well.. we love our hypothesis better.

And back home, CJ Ent released King Gwanghae's first teaser unveiling a superbly acting Lee Byung Hun vs Lee Byung Hun in two charismatic roles. It definitely going to be an intense and suspenseful piece from LBH, nothing less from this actor.

8 days after the LA trip, Lee Byung Hun and his entourage returned home and again his airport fashion became the media focus. True to his words to travel comfortably, he arrived in Incheon in a very casual, simple yet comfortable clothing.

Fresh from his return, in an unexpectedly heart-warming gesture, Lee Byung Hun attended late actor Park Yong Ha's 2nd Anniversary Tribute Concert and gathering. What a sweet surprise for Park Yong Ha's family and his mother especially. We would never expected this even though we know that BH also attended the wake 2 years ago.

Back home, various entertainment programs are recapping the Hand Printing ceremony in LA highlighting interviews with Ahn Sung Ki & Lee Byung Hun. Not to mention the CJ CGV's Special exhibition of ASK-LBH movie screening as celebrating the actors' momentous achievement for the Korean movie world. tvN enews and KBS Ent. Weekly were running feature & interviews of LBH back-to-back for the appreciating fans and public.

July is here -- not only it's the birthday month for Lee Byung Hun, it also marks the official appointment of LBH and actress Im Soo Jung as the 2012 Gwangju Biennale Honorary Ambassadors, isn't that just awesome? Both actors first worked together in a similar goodwill cause in 2010 when they promoted the Cinematheque Cinema Angels Bazaar pictorial. Who knows.. the third time around, they'll both be acting in Dir. Kim Ji Woon's romance melodrama that he envisioned to do. Please pretty please!

A media outlet had listed the top CF earners of 2012. While we know Byunghun is no CF actor, he's still one of the high-earners just by having one or two major endorsements a year. And despite him failing his road test 9 times during his teen years, the frank and charismatic actor had been top choice model for Hyundai's Global Campaign. That certainly beats out everything else!

We hope our Lee Byung Hun would have a great 42nd birthday celebration this year and many many more to come. Already halfway through 2012, it's been a super year & unforgettable indeed. Soon BH will be starting his RED 2 filming and of course, Gwanghae being released nationwide in September. We really can't wait as we've been waiting for LBH to return to the screens again!

Thanks for the coffee... suka..   tapi memang banyak cerita yang dia buat ending camtu. Bukan dia je.. but it's something like a Korean fave ending.. kalau ending mati, akan lebih berkesan something like that .. kalau tak silap. Dulu masa filming All In.. ada rumors nak matikan hero/heroin/second lead.. nasib baik tak jadi. Ending IRIS tu memang saja nak menyakitkan hati orang yang tengok. Nasib baik dalam ISTD dia tak mati walaupun revengenya sangatlah brutal.

Oh All In.. kenangan 10 tahun lalu.. ada macam2.. suka.. duka..

BH.. as I see it.. drama fans dia ada yang diehard BD (like us?).. lepas tu yang start dengan All In akan lebih suka dengan that one.. and then the new ones yang tengok IRIS, akan lebih cenderung for IRIS. Of course.. IRIS dengan BD.. and All In.. semuanya tak sama langsung. Minchul.. InHa.. HyunJun.. all very different leading men.

Anyway.. tak payahlah buat IRIS 2.. dah jadi kenang2an drama tu. Dibuat open ending tu pun sebab kot2 boleh buat sequel.. itupun kalau nasib baik tapi silap target. Most of the original cast dah semakin sibuk (tak termasuk yang dah di'killed off'.. like JJH, TOP, BH).. BH pun will go back to US for filming more movies. IRIS tu ada new drama luck.. ratings tinggi .. walaupun plot/script agak lemah. Lebih baik it stays a high-rated drama daripada buat sequel suam2 kuku terus flop. Tengok macam Athena.. indah kabar dari rupa je. Lagipun kalau BH tak jadi lead in IRIS 2.. where's the story? I rather not see him go back jadi HyunJun tapi pusing2 kejar IRIS lepas tu kena torture, etc etc.. yang tu jugaklah jadi jalan cerita.

Ending ISTD.. dalam Director's Cut..

Sebab BH dah bunuh the psycho killer.. dia dah jadi buruan polis.. ex-boss dia arrangekan for him to go to China with new identity/passport. So, masa dia nak tinggalkan Seoul.. dia ternampak.. ada one guy suspiciously mengekori a schoolgirl. Mula2 dia buat2 tak tahu tapi.. I think instinct dia dah berubah.. dia mesti rasa nak buat sesuatu and he followed that guy instead of naik kapal to China.

So.. open-ending lagi?

   macam is start tgk BH dalam BD........masa tue sekolah lagi.......balik sekolah kayuh basikal laju2 nak balik rumah cepat nak tgk BD.... masa tue BD tayng jam 2.30ptg kat tv2....... kalu ada cikgu bt kelas tambahan...xdapat la tgk.......(malu gila igt2 balik...kawan2 ajak lepak rumah diorang pn xnak..... sbb sebelum tue selalu lepak ngn diorang......sampai di cop sombong la.....mcm2 alasan bg punya nak balik awal.....)

betul2..... beza sgt antara leeminchul-kiminha-kimhyunjun.......

errmmm....betul jugak...kalu la bt sequel nnt dan x sepanas iris 1 rugi gilerr......macam athena pun is kecewa jugak...tapi tgk jugak sampai habis.... sbb ada CSW........ pasal mengharap tue sbb nak tgk BH lagi jer......maksdnya nak tgk BH dalam jngka masa panjang ckit.......... nak kata jalan citer tue.....ermmm......

Ending ISTD yang sebenarnya memang sampai part dia bunuh KyungChul tu.. cuma scenes yang extra tu dalam versi Director's Cut.. I think Dir. Kim keluarkan supaya ending movie lebih 'solid'. Ini pun kawan yang share the ending clip sebab banyak reviews ISTD ni ada yang guna nama DaeHoon untuk BH.. agak confused jugak mula2. padahal sebetulnya SooHyun. Rupanya DaeHoon tu nama untuk identiti dia yang baru.

Ohh.. oh.. Is sama dengan katt.. kita berdua tengok BD on TV2 dulu.. Korean audio, kan. Tak sangka sungguh RTM siarkan BD original version masa tu. Timing dia memang sucks .. tapi subtitle bagus and boleh dengar suara LBH yang terbaik punya.. tak macam TV3 etc.
To be honest.. mula2 tengok BD.. nampak Minchul dengan rambut blonde tutup mata.. fikir ni mesti bukan hero. Tapi.. bila dengar suara.. and tengok gaya dia lagi.. terus melt habis.

Rasanyalah.. kita pun ingat2 lupa. Tapi nasib baik yang dia tak bertepuk sebelah tangan.. they all macam ada "connection" with each other. Cuma BH.. masa nak first kiss tu.. dia tak tahu nak buat macam mana .. terus terkam. Hahaa.. nasib baik the girl faham and terima dia seadanya.

betul betul korean audio lagik....best sgt sgt sgt masa tgk tue.......giler bayang terus ngn suara BH yg dalm tue....ahhhh....
is tgk pun dh start dalam 2,3 episode......jadi xtau awal2 cam na.......apalagi kumpul duit belanja sekolah........beli vcd terus......
is suka tgk BH dr awal.............bajek mesti dia neh hiro la......ngn suara dia, gaya dia......jadi automatik xsuka ryu shin won.......... tapi risau jgak yg  ji woo baik ryu shin won.....huhuhuhuhu...last2 ji woo ngaku suka BH......lagi bahagia is...hahahah....
