Ron: I don't want to leave
CRISTIANO RONALDO has dismissed fresh speculation linking him with Real Madrid. The Manchester United ace came close to joining the Spanish giants last summer.
But Ronaldo insists he is happy with life at Old Trafford and has no intention of turning his back on boss Alex Ferguson.
The Portugal winger said: "There's always speculation, not just about me, but about the future of players all around the world.
"People were speaking about me this summer but that was normal because of what I did during the season.
"What people are saying now is not true.
"Whoever says that I am joining Madrid is a liar because I am happy at the club, I want to stay here.
"I feel at home here. I feel very happy here."
Ronaldo, who scored 42 goals in all competitions last term, added fuel to the fire during pre-season by claiming he would love to play for Real.
But the 23-year-old insists his desire to pull on the famous white shirt one day has not damaged his relationship with the United faithful.
He added: "I think the people don't forget quickly what you do for the club.
"When I first arrived back at the stadium to play, I felt a little bit of pressure.
"But the fans were very good and this is why I feel the Manchester United supporters are amazing.
"I love the fans because they have been brilliant with me, not just this season but every season.
"Like I said before, I feel at home in Manchester." |

Tevez Hoping For United Deal
Fri 02 Jan, 09:09 AM
Carlos Tevez insists he is happy at Manchester United and is confident of agreeing a permanent deal with the club.
The Argentina international is currently in the second year of a complicated loan move, with that agreement set to expire in the summer.
United are yet to offer the combative front-man a full-time contract, with the issue having hung over both player and club for some considerable time.
Tevez has been utilised mainly as a squad player by Sir Alex Ferguson this season and has seen his number of outings limited as a result.
However, having helped the club to domestic and European glory last term, the 24-year-od is adamant that he sees his long-term future at Old Trafford.
"I am not preoccupied about my future," Tevez told the Daily Mail.
"My instincts are to stay with the club and in the next week or so I think there will be more contact with regards to sorting out my contract. That is what we've been told.
"My agent is in touch with United all the time and he tells me that everything is very positive now. So it is up to the club.
"Other clubs have asked about me but I see my future at United."
Of those 'other clubs' said to be interested, Spanish giants Real Madrid are thought to he heading the queue.
The reigning Primera Liga champions have a reputation for landing high-profile summer signings, but Tevez remains hopeful that United will find the funds to match his considerable price tag.

Cameo star: Tevez has struggled to make United縮 first team this season
Carlos Tevez has had plenty to think about at the end of a year in which he fell short of personal fulfilment despite winning the two trophies he had coveted above all others.
For the first time in his career, Tevez watched other players take centre stage as Manchester United were crowned kings of England and Europe.
A squad player at Old Trafford now, Tevez has not taken to his role comfortably and an invitation by Sir Alex Ferguson to take time off over the New Year certainly surprised a player who had hoped a winning goal at Stoke on Boxing Day would lead instead to a starting berth in the game against Middlesbrough that followed.
Tevez still awaits a permanent contract, too - another matter that has tested his patience. But Tevez, currently at his family home in Buenos Aires, will return to England after United's FA Cup tie against Southampton on Sunday certain of one thing.
He is determined to stay at United in the long term and has been told by the club that talks about a long-term deal will begin within days.
