Aibon dismissed from agency
Tue, March 27, 2007 (4:32am EDT)

Up-Front Agency, the company behind Hello! Project, announced on Monday that it has dismissed idol Ai Kago.
Kago was suspended from work last year for underage smoking. In January of this year, Up-Front Agency allowed Kago to work in their offices in preparation for a comeback, and fans were excited to hear the news about her possible return. But the plans were quickly abandoned within the last few days.
Tabloid magazine Weekly Gendai just published an article reporting that it had seen Kago smoking again. Furthermore, it reported that Kago is dating 37-year old Yasuyuki Ishimoto, the owner of the Shibuya cafe SOMA. The two of them were seen spending the night at an onsen ryoken in Kusatsu, Gunma on March 17.
On Monday, Up-Front Agency stated that Kago had confirmed the story herself. Because she is a minor, the company consulted with her parents, and it was decided that her contract would be cancelled.

Matsuda, AKB48 star in new Akimoto horror film
Wed, April 4, 2007 (1:11pm EDT)
Author Yasushi Akimoto, who wrote the original "One Missed Call"
("Chakushin Ari") novel, is at work on a new horror film. The movie is
titled "Densen Uta" and is being directed by Masato Harada.
"Densen Uta" tells the story of a song that is said to cause death
whenever it is sung. Members of idol group AKB48 appear as high school
students who discover the song by chance, while Ryuhei Matsuda
stars as a third-rate reporter trying to find the truth behind the song.
Yusuke Iseya also plays a lead role.

After the success of "One Missed Call," Akimoto had vaguely considered a
movie revolving around a song. One day, his staff researched on the
Internet and found that one existed. According to urban legend, the
Hungarian song "Gloomy Sunday" caused many suicides. Based on the legends,
Akimoto developed the story behind "Densen Uta."
Filming began in March, and the movie hits theaters in August. The deadly
song, titled "Boku no Hana," is planned for a joint release with
the movie. Like "One Missed Call," there is also the possibility that the
movie will become a series if this first one is successful.
