The story of the way he got to debut and casted was like a story from a drama. He got to debut as a lead in the musical, Altar Boyz, when his university senior heard him singing while he was cleaning the stage and recommended him to audition. He was the understudy for the lead in Spring Awakening but he prepared so much (memorizing the songs and dances, taking notes of the lead actor’s acting, reading the script twice every day) that when the lead actor injured himself during the first full rehearsal, they made him perform and he got through it successfully. He got double casted for Spring Awakening and was given 150 of the total 250 performances. During the audition for Baker King, the producers and directors didn't like him to play Gu Ma Jun coz he was a novice but the writer liked him so much that she didn't want to do the drama unless Joo Won was casted.

salah satu factor joo won nak terlibat dlm drama kerana aku rasa pasal dia pernah jadi rockie actor dan dia tahu susahnya actor2 baru yg berbakat di korea nk dpt pegang watak leading dlm drama...dan dia buka peluang nie untuk actress2 baru cuba nasib..klau actor popular yg dah ada nama mungkin takut klau heroin baru...tapi joo won lain..

Joo Won Cancels Enlistment In Police Promotional Unit To Serve As Active Duty Soldier
Actor Joo Won has canceled his coming service as a part of a police promotional unit, and will instead be completing his service as an active duty soldier. A source from the Military Manpower Administration said on September 5, “If things had gone according to the initial plan, Joo Won would have enlisted this past July with the police promotional unit. However, he expressed his wishes to serve as an active duty soldier, and cancelled those plans. He is currently waiting for his enlistment date. We can’t reveal anything now, but his enlistment date will be near year’s end.” Joo Won’s most recent work was SBS’s “Yong Pal” in 2015, for which he won the grand prize at the SBS Drama Awards.

sejak aku frust KHJ x dpt jadi leading lady joo won aku mcm malas nk buka IG joo won.. drama korea lg aku malas nk follow walaupun thn nie byk drama best..aku byk tgk jpanae drama jer sekarang.. pasal aku rasa geram dan terkilan plk kenapa joo won tak dpt high profile drama.. padahal lakonan dia lg bagus daripada hero2 yg tgh popular sekarang.. x bias ok.. |

aku pun jrang2 sangat dah bukak ig.. aku layan drama yg sedia ada je.. banyak jugak yg best atau agak best eg. scarlet heart, moonlight drawn by clouds.. sekarang aku suka tengok shopping king louie.. cite tu started low rating 5-6% tapi slowly progress sampai >10% dan highest rated for the slot sekarang nih.. aku suka sebab drama tu cuma bermodalkan seo inguk(singer actor) dan nam jihyun (rookie) tp boleh mencabar jealosy incarnate dgn A-list-actors nya.. kredit utk lakonan dorang yg comel dan chemistry +++  ..walaupun cerita kadang2 merepek tp boleh dimaafkan sebab lawak nak mampus )
tujuan aku sentuh pasal drama ni ialah sebab aku nak cakap.. bagi aku it's still ok kalau joo won tak dapat drama2 yg high profile tapi sekurangnya biarlah skrip menarik dan tak bosan.. kalau tak dapat top actress jd heroin pun takpe, rookie pun ok asalkan muda, comel(tak lawa sangat pun takpe) dan berbakat.. mcm nam ji hyun ni aku suka tengok lakonan dia.. aku takut kalau2 my sassy girl jadi mcm cantabile tomorrow, publisiti over the top last2 rating ke laut.. sekian luahan perasaan aku yg terpendam selama ini..

Drama Remake Of “My Sassy Girl” Finalizes Broadcast Schedule
The drama remake of “My Sassy Girl” starring Joo Won and Oh Yeon Seo has finally revealed when it will premiere!
According to a source from the drama on December 27, “My Sassy Girl” has been confirmed to air in May of 2017 as SBS’s Monday-Tuesday drama.
Dramas that will air before the start of “My Sassy Girl” include “The Accused” (working title) — which will air after “Romantic Doctor Kim” — in January, and “Whisper” (working title) in March.
“My Sassy Girl” is a love story set in the Joseon Dynasty unlike the original film. Joo Won plays the character Kyeon Woo, who has a unique brain and rough personality. Meanwhile, Oh Yeon Seo plays Hye Myung, who travels on the daily. The cast and crew have already started filming since this is a pre-produced drama.

Joo Won compares upcoming ‘My Sassy Girl’ drama with the original; ‘The content is completely different’
In a surprise talk on V app, Joo Won candidly answered questions about his upcoming drama series "My Sassy Girl."
According to Soompi, the actor reportedly said the story of pre-produced drama is different from the original "My Sassy Girl." Joo Won said, "It's a completely different story from the original. You'll know when you watch it."
He added that the new "My Sassy Girl" will revolve around the love story of a princess and a scholar. Joo Won also revealed he is currently caught up with the filming of the upcoming drama.
"These days, I'm mainly filming. I will most likely spend the end of this year and beginning of the next like this as well," the actor said.
Reports stated the new "My Sassy Girl" is set in the Joseon Dynasty period. Joo Won takes the role of Gyun Woo, while Oh Yeon Seo will play as Princess Hyemyung. The SBS drama is based on popular movie "My Sassy Girl," starring Jun Ji Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun.
Joo Won was confirmed to play the lead role on "My Sassy Girl" drama series in March, according to Koreaboo. Despite his commendable acting, many netizens doubted Joo Won is the perfect actor to play the role.
Most of them pointed out how Jun Ji Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun did a great job in the movie, which made the original "My Sassy Girl" popular not only in South Korea but also in other Asian countries like Japan, China, Taiwan, Philippines, Hong Kong among others.
"The movie is such a legend that it's just going to be compared. Even if he does well he won't be able to top the original," a commenter posted. Another one said, "The original movie is so strong that no matter who does the remake they won't be too welcomed."
Further reports claimed "My Sassy Girl" will be Joo Won's last project before he serves the mandatory military service. In addition, the upcoming drama reportedly will air simultaneously in South Korea, Japan and China in 2017.
