Flores: Give Ayala a new deal
Valencia boss Quique Sanchez Flores has asked the club to renew the contract of veteran centre back Roberto Ayala.
The 33-year-old Argentina international has found himself out of the team in recent weeks, though Flores insists he still has an important role to play at the Mestalla.
"Ayala has the backing of the coaching staff," he insisted. "The fact that he is left out from time to time does not mean that we don't have faith in him."
"We have analysed his situation and I sincerely believe that he will return to form. His qualities will prove very important to the team."
Ayala has been granted extra time off over the Christmas period, and will return to training with the team on January 2.

Angulo to stay at Valencia
Valencia midfielder Miguel Angel Angulo insists that his future lies at the Mestalla, amidst reports of interest from Chelsea and Barcelona. The 29-year-old Spain international also expressed his wishes to sign a new deal with Los Ches.
Angulo started out at Sporting Gijon but moved to Valencia as a 17-year-old and - apart from an early season on loan at Villarreal - has spent the rest of his professional career at Valencia, where he has won the Primera Division and the UEFA Cup.
"I am proud to be linked with teams like that, but today I only want to continue for many years at Valencia because this is my home," he declared.
"The decision depends on Valencia but I believe that the club wants me to continue here."
It is understood that Angulo's agent Jose Luis Tamargo will meet with the Valencia board over the next two weeks to dscuss a new deal and a pay rise.
