Lee Min-ho, Kim Bum surprise visit Jung Il-woo fan meeting

Korean heartthrobs Lee Min-ho and Kim Bum made a surprise appearance at actor Jung Il-woo's fan meeting held over the weekend, according to Jung's agency N.O.A Entertainment on Monday.
Lee and Kim, co-stars of last year's smash hit series "Boys Over Flowers" and best friends with Jung, turned up at the meet and greet also held in time with Jung's 23rd birthday.
"We have known Jung for a while now but we have never seen these sides to Jung before. It is great to see how passionate he can be for his fans," the two said of the various events Jung prepared for the fan meeting after congratulating him on his birthday.
For the fan event, held for the first time in two years, Jung played the original soundtrack to movie "Love Affair" on the piano as well as singing and dancing to "Candy in my Ear" with female songstress Baek Ji-young.

News is out LMH's been casted in SBS drama City Hunter which will be aired next year.
The director (PD) is Jin Hyuk who directed 'brilliant legacy','painter of the wind' and 'prosecutor princess'. I love 'pros princess' so I'm glad that MH's working with him. I read from news articles published when he was in NY for the fashion show that when he returns he will decide on his next project, but i didn't expect it to be THAT soon. wow, i think his fans must all be elated!
a little background from wiki about the original manga:
City Hunter (シティーハンター, mini cooperī Hantā?) is a hardboiled manga series written and illustrated by Tsukasa Hojo, published by Shueisha in the Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1985 to 1991. The manga was adapted into an animated television series by Sunrise Studios in 1987. The City Hunter franchise spans four animated television series, three television specials, two original video animations, an animated feature film and a live-action Hong Kong film starring Jackie Chan. In 2001, Tsukasa Hojo started the Angel Heart, a City Hunter spin-off.
The series follows the exploits of Ryo Saeba, a "sweeper" or private detective who works to rid Tokyo of crime, and Kaori Makimura, a tomboyish girl who manages Ryo's business affairs. Their "City Hunter" business is an underground jack-of-all-trades operation, contacted by writing the letters "XYZ" on a blackboard at Shinjuku Station.

Actor LMH is transforming into a 'sexy playboy'.
이민호의 소속사 스타우스엔터테인먼트 측은 "내년 방송 예정인 SBS드라마 '시티헌터' 주인공 강진 역으로 이민호가 캐스팅됐다"고 13일 밝혔다.
LMH's management company 'starhaus entertainment' revealed that LMH has been casted in the role of Kang Jin and will be the main lead in SBS drama 'City Hunter' which is slated to air next year.
극중 이민호는 난봉꾼에 미인을 보면 어쩔 줄 모르는 호색한이지만, 고도의 기술로 민첩하게 사건을 해결하는 전직 CIA요원 출신 강진 역을 통해 카리스마 넘치고 인간적인 모습 등 다양한 매력을 발산할 예정이다.
LMH will be portraying the role of a playboy, who although is rendered helpless in the presence of beautiful women, possesses great skill and agility when solving investigations, and is also a humane character who overflows with charisma.
드라마 제작진은 "'시티헌터'는 그동안 세계 유수의 제작사와 유명배우들로부터 드라마화를 요청받았지만, 완벽한 작품을 원하는 원작자의 요구를 지킬 수 없어 번번이 무산된 것으로 알려져왔다"며 "이로 인해 일본에서 조차 드라마화 된 적이 없는 작품이다"라고 밝혔다.
The drama production crew revealed that although request was given to seek distinguished production companies and famous cast for the drama, the production has not materialized all this time becoz the original author (manga writer) insisted on perfection. It was to the extent that the drama has not even been successfully produced in Japan.
이민호가 주연을 맡은 '시티헌터'는 일본 작가 호조 츠카사의 동명만화를 원작으로 하는 드라마로, 남자 주인공이 미녀 의뢰인의 의뢰를 받아 사건을 해결해나가는 내용으로 전세계에서 인기를 끌었다.
The drama 'City Hunter' which LMH will be acting in, will be based on Hojo Tsukasa's manga under the same name. The male leading character solves mysteries for a beautiful female client.

edit: ok, now i can totally understand why that 007 symbol on his cardigan and why he's fully dressed in black. Prob getting into his role. I'm fully anticipating it. Seems like there might be some fighting scenes in the drama. I hope he's in good condition for this type of role.

kyaaaa... i liked the secret agent look from Etude. If he comes out like this, I can just sit and stare at the screen needing no dialogue and drama.
edit: the original 'City Hunter' manga had 1980s Tokyo as the backdrop, but the korean adaptation will take place in 2011's Seoul instead.
The scripwriter is Lee Young Joong (이영종) who wrote the scripts for Private Eye(2009) and Black House(2007), both of which are movies in the thriller genre. I hope the thriller aspect will set 'City Hunter' apart from other action-flicks lined up for this year and next, such as 'The fugitive plan b', 'Athena' and 'Iris 2' which are all casting big names. And i also hope they place certain emphasis on the manga aspect to lighten it up. I have no problem believing MH can easily assimilate this new role. But a good script, editing and directing are crucial to every project. Done right, i believe it can be an outstanding drama that will carve a niche of its own. |

Lee Minho to star in the Korean version of ‘City Hunter’!
Lee Minho becomes a playboy?
Lee Minho has been selected to play a leading role in the upcoming drama, “City Hunter”. But as it turns out, the role he will be playing is that of a playboy!
On the 13th, his company revealed that Lee Minho would play the character of Lee Yung Jong in the drama “City Hunter”. For the drama, he will tranform into a complete womanizer who doesn’t know what to do at the sight of a beautiful woman, yet secretly, he’s also a hero who saves citizens tired and hurt from harsh city life. In solving these cases, he himself slowly begins to heal his own emotional injuries, and understand more fully about love and family.
“City Hunter” is a drama that was based on a cartoon of the same name written by Tsukasa Hojo. Set in the latter half of the 1980s, the story takes place in Tokyo. The main character, Saeba Ryo, takes in cases upon requests from beautiful women and puzzles them out one by one. As the story developed, it gathered a great deal of popularity. However, it’s the first time in 13 years that the cartoon has been televised in movie or drama form.
According to a representative of the staff, “City Hunter” has received offers for dramatization from several world-class directors and famous actors, but because the original author wanted nothing but perfection in his dramatization, he had several demands, which caused many attempts at dramatization to fail.
It has been revealed that the casting of Lee Minho lay in his manly appeal, which complemented nicely with his refreshing energy, thereby successfully fulfilling the original author’s demands.
The Korean version of “City Hunter” will be set in the year 2011 at Seoul, instead of Tokyo in the 1980s. According to a representative of the SBS Drama Division, the drama will be aired on SBS next year.
