ni a few petitions aku just click2 pages dia...
sedih ada , kelakar pun ada ah.... semua menyumpah2... lol:lol
korang baca ah...pasal nyonya cleaner..
15766. sandy Let me tell u a sad story .. my neighbour - a 65 yrs old lady. she is a cleaner, her pay is 600 per month. and she donated $30 per month to NKF. When she heard the news, she is CRYING now. I am going to stop her from crying.. and she keep mumbering -- Black hearted animals !
15765. Junie C. Mrs SM. I've the greatest respect for Mr SM. However, your choice of words hurt not only me, but all fellow Singaporeans. I'm a single mom & am saving my every cents to support my son &survive in this expensive country. My son can't even enjoy most luxuries due to money constraints. My donations may not be a lot. But to have my donations called "peanuts"? It's like a tight slap on my face. I'm willing to accept that a CEO's salary is this high, due to his time & efforts for the organisation. However, it's very ironic that he needs a gold tap & toilet bowl to cleanse himself. With our donations?! NKF staff, Mr Durai, Mrs SM, don't you know that most of us are average and below average income families? It saddens me and I believe most Singaporeans feel the same way too. With regrets, I will never donate to NKF again. Apologies to the Kidney patients. I salute you all for fighting your illness. However, there are still 30-40 years of reserve funds... Will consider when I reach 66 years old then...
11536. Bahrom Bin Sulong I am so disheartened and saddened by the greed of such people in this society. I am donating to NKF every month and this kind of news really makes me sick. It was in good faith that I donated to NKF thinking they would go to the people who really need them. Not to add to the pay packet of such a swine. To hell shall he burn for stealing the hard-working money of honest people
11524. Patrick Kng I'm apalled like any others who had donated to NKF, BUT please do not mix the need of the kidney patients with Durai's crime against public trust. The kidney patients still need our help. Also, I am disgusted with Mrs. Goh Chok Tong's comments, obviously, she had been living a good life to fully understand what $600,000 means to many needy Singaporeans. Have some respects for the poor and needy, Mrs. Goh!
1659. Albert Foo You've betrayed the trust of Singaporeans; rich and poor, young and old, even the overseas celebrities who come over to show their support for the fundraising and local celebrities who performed dangerous acts over the years just to encourage people to donate more. All these efforts are for the patients, not for your gold plated sink or toilet bowl. You own us and more importantly the sick kidney patients who depend on you for survival an apology.
1631. Chee Siong I think for such acts, the entire management team would have been prosecuted in other countries like China, for cheating the People of its money. There must be a law that the management + board be brought accountable for their actions. We should recover the money dishonetly taken & channel them back to rightful beneficiaries !! I would suggest the government of re-distributing the reserves to all the other needy charitable organisations in Singapore ! THE GOVERNEMENT MUST STEP IN TO TAKE THE HIGHER MORAL GROUNDS !!
15106. Jimmy Teo Nai Heok I am just back from Bali today. The taxi driver told me that those taxi drivers at the airport are withdrawing their monthly support. Just now, a pastor's son told me that he donated $60.00 to NKF & will withdraw forthwith. I have no confidence in NKF for awarding such large bonuses to their CEO when it is not a business organization.
15103. Dominic I am shocked to learn the NKF has funds to last 30 years! My sister-in-law who is partially paralysed and diabetic was turned down when she applied. My brother earns about $1500 a month and yet the NKF does not consider her case. Is not the money raised all these years to help such patients and not to be accumlated? It should not be used for paying fat bonuses too. What a real shame for a national icon!
15072. laohamku I am a cabby and had driven a kidney patient from Woodlands to Tampines NKF Centre. On the way, he told me he was actually staying in Bukit Panjang that because the Woodland NKF branch was occuppied and he was posted to Tampines for treatment and that poor guy had to go all the way there 3 times a week. I noticed he is a cheerful man but i really pity him when he told me that his siblings are funding him abt $ 2000 every mth for the NKF treatment. I was really shocked when one thought that the vast donations from should provide more help. He even said that most of the treatment machines are old.
15042. Liz Shame on you Durai. And shame on Mrs Goh... who is obviously so completely out of touch with the average working class Singaporean. What an amazing PR blunder this is!! Can just imagine poor Mr Goh's staff of spin doctors trying to concoct the best excuse for her idiotic comments!! We'll probably hear something like "Oh No No No - She didn't mean THAT Mr Durai!!" The last time I checked, the NKF was a Non Profit Org, 600K/year - alamak!!! Heed the call for TRANSPARENCY Singapore!!!!
12944. Bernard Chan Singaporeans should salute Ms Susan Long and the SPH for exposing a real big scam. This Durai guy thought he was a smart aleck to want to sue SPH, but end up opening up a can of worms instead. Singaporeans who had been conned by him should demand his death and chop him into seven pieces and throw him into the Kallang River.
11376. Chai Pls WAKE UP Media Corp ! , don't harm yr staff anymore. Is CBIB called in ?
285. oh jun kuan What a disgrace! Imagine a little boy asking the parents to donate for the needy but little did they know that the $ actually went to pay for DURAI's 1st bloody class tickets and his 12 DARN MTH BONUS!!!
961. Janel Loke I'm totally disgusted by what have been revealed so far. But I believe this is just the tip of the ice-berg. Will all this hoola be stopped after sometime, like previous cases, when this case is closed since the accuser dropped his charges? I hope not. And no thanks to NKF, i've actually grown sick of all these charity events/shows. Meanwhile, I'm thankful that Mr Singh is on SPH team of lawyers and he's certainly aggressive! and impressive!
4030. Joyce I have decided to call up NKF to cancel my family's donations. Reason: Can get the CEO to donate instead cos' his 1 month salary is more than my 1 year donation. And moreover, he has 12 months of bonus. I have barely 1 month.
11889. Injustice Exposed How can $600k be peanuts? It takes 120,000 schoolchildren to go round begging every year for $5 donation each to finance the CEO salary!
11882. Lynn I'm utterly disgusted. My heart goes out to those who donated to NKF despite earning $900 or less a month only to find out their hard earn $$ went to Durai's fat paycheck?! Durai and the Board of directors owe the general public an explanation!

Kidney patient: It must By Veena Bharwani
July 14, 2005
I KNOW you are upset and want to stop donating to NKF. But if you do, then I might die.
--Pics/MOHD ISHAK,SHIN MIN DAILY NEWS
This was the desperate plea from a young woman whose both kidneys have failed.
But when Miss Rahamah Shariff (right) learnt that Mr T T Durai earned about $25,000 a month, she was speechless.
Her security guard father takes home $1,200 a month while her mother makes $600 a month as a cleaner.
With two younger brothers who are not working, the 21-year-old said it was very hard to cope. That was when the NKF helped by subsidising the dialysis treatment substantially.
From having to pay over $1,740 a month for the treatment, she now only pays $240 a month.
'Without NKF's help, I won't be able to afford the treatment,' she said in Malay.
It's been an agonising journey for Miss Rahamah since both her kidneys failed in 1999.
For six years, she has been chained to her dialysis machine in her room for 14 hours at a stretch, while a tube is inserted into a catheter implanted on the left side of her abdomen.
Toxins are then flushed out of her kidneys.
'I was in and out of the hospital over 20 times because of infections.'
While she says she's used to the confined lifestyle, the numbed expression told a different story.
The former ITE Bishan student worked for a brief period as a production operator in early 2003 and as a telemarketer before that.
However, she had a bad fall two years ago, tore the tendons in her knee and had to stop working.
She said she's grateful to the NKF for its help and begs Singaporeans to continue donating to the organisation.
However, she was shocked when she heard how much Mr Durai makes a month.
Her empathy for the man she respected and had met on several occasions turned into anger.
'If he makes so much, why doesn't NKF just subsidise the entire amount? Why do I still have to pay $240?'
She said her mother sometimes needed to borrow money from relatives to settle the extra amount needed.
But her anger soon changed to worry.
'Whatever the case is with Mr Durai, the NKF has many earnest and sincere people who work very hard to help people like me stay alive.
'Please don't stop donating. Just think of me and donate.' |

THE CAUSE: Backlash begins
So disgusting
By Low Ching Ling and Celine Lim
July 14, 2005
THE vile words were splashed in bold red on the white walls of the building.
6am: Angry vandals lash out at NKF building.
Words like 'liar'.
In what was a bold public display of disgust against the National Kidney Foundation and CEO T T Durai, someone - or some people - sprayed paint on the outer walls of its Kim Keat Road headquarters early this morning.
The New Paper rushed down at about 6am after a reader noticed the vandalism and called our hotline.
A wall of red graffiti greeted us.
On one part of the outer front wall were the words 'NKF=liar' written in English, and 'big liar' in Chinese - all spray-painted in bold.
The word 'liar' was also written in bold on every alternate pillar.

The culprits also vandalised the side of the building with the words 'Save Singapore' and 'Liar'.
A motorcyclist who was delivering newspapers was overheard uttering: 'Now the whole world knows.'
Said police spokesman Debbie See: 'At 5.20am, the police received a call about graffiti on the walls of the (NKF) building.
'We're still investigating.'
The graffiti invited curious stares from morning joggers and passers-by.
An SBS Transit bus driver even stopped his bus for about a minute to look.
A jogger who declined to be named said: 'The people who did this are very daring. The building is along the main road and they might have been seen.'
Cabby C W Heng, 50, who lives nearby, felt it was a juvenile act.
'They destroyed the property and the NKF will have to use public funds to fix it. If they want to express their unhappiness, they can write to the newspaper forum or call the radio station. It's a barbaric act.'
NKF spokesman Michelle Ang said security guards were informed about the vandalism some time after 5am by police officers.
She had left the building some time after midnight and did not see any graffiti then.
The graffiti has since been removed, but Ms Ang was not able to say when and by whom.
She said: 'It's very unfortunate this has happened. Whatever the public read about the court proceedings is only one side of the story.
'We really hope they won't forget what the NKF has achieved in the provision of dialysis and in helping kidney patients over the years.'
Ms Ang confirmed that some donors are planning to cancel their contributions to NKF. The staff have also received abusive calls from angry donors.
Cries of anger and threats to cancel donations to NKF rang out in one Shenton Way office yesterday when the news broke of Mr Durai being paid $25,000 a month.
Mrs D Sim, 50, an administrator, said: 'Everybody in my office wanted to stop their monthly Giro payments to NKF as we were so angry.'
We spoke to nine people and the general feeling was that the public's trust in NKF has been badly shaken. At least five were upset with Mr Durai's salary and how NKF spends its money.
Property agent Ray Lee, 40, said: 'NKF is always educating the public that every single cent counts. But I didn't know how the money I donated was used. Now it has come to light.'
Despite feeling disgruntled over Mr Durai's 10-to-12-month bonus, Mr Lim M O, 50, a businessman, will continue his yearly donations of $50 as his late mother had kidney problems.
Mr Saravanan M Govindasamy, 35, a prisons officer, will wait for NKF's explanation before deciding his next move.
He said: 'We can't penalise the needy, sick people out there who need our donations.'
Those found guilty of vandalism will be fined up to $2,000 or jailed up to three years and will receive between three and eight strokes of the cane. |
