Anjana Sukhani keeps sexual harassers at bay
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Monday, January 22, 2007]
She may be the prettiest thing to have happened to 'Salaam E Ishq' but is currently kept tightly under wraps before the release of the film.
Hence while Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Ayesha Takia, Juhi Chawla and Isha Kopikar are the most visible faces in the promos of SEI which are out on all media channels 24X7, Anjana is cool as cucumber as she waits for her big moment to arrive on the big screen on January 25th.
Meanwhile she is busy with her other assignments as just recently she was seen keeping sexual harassers at bay. Well, strictly on screen, thankfully!
She appears in a light hearted short film [currently been shown at theaters] that conveys the message of coming on hard at those roving eyes that never feel shy about staring at females at any given moment. As a lead protagonist who teaches such men a lesson, Anjana does it in her own sweet'ncute style.
Making quite an impression in the short film, she extends her sweet charm that she has displayed so far in films like 'Hum Dum', 'Sun Zarra' and 'Jaana-Let's Fall In Love'. Her is looking forward more of this girl! |

Oh gosh - Now Water too lines up for February 23rd
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Monday, January 22, 2007]
Suddenly last Friday of February is turning out to be the topmost choice of film makers to release their products.
If 6 films were not enough for the day, there is more for company as Ravi Chopra too has decided to release Oscar nominated and now short listed 'Water' in India on 23rd February. Reports indicate that he would be starting the promotion of the film soon in India and if the film eventually gets an Oscar, it would only be a 'sone-pe-sugaaga' for this Lisa Ray-John Abraham-Seema Biswas film.
The other films in the fray on February 23rd are 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd.', 'Nishabd', 'Just Married', 'Provoked', '1:40 Ki Last Local' and 'Chooriyan'. Amonst these 6 films, it is only for HTPL that the makers have officially announced the release day. |

Faridoon Shahryar, IndiaGlitz [Monday, January 22, 2007]
Shahrukh Khan is a superstar. In every sense of the word. He is also a People抯 person. For he loves them. Unconditionally. This is what was evident today at a nondescript Gokuldham Society in Mumbai where SRK wowed the crowds varying from kids, jumping-on-chairs middle aged pot bellied ladies and men sitting in their kitchen windows as if watching an engrossing cricket match. The occasion was to promote 慘aun Banega Crorepati |

SEI slated to take a bumper opening
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, January 23, 2007]
While 'Guru' has brought smiles on the faces of exhibitors after a heartening response at the box office, especially in the cities, there are more reasons for them to feel elated as they await a 4 day long weekend for 'Salaam E Ishq'.
The film is expected to take a euphoric beginning at the box office for multiple reasons:
A) The film releases on Thursday, 25th January, a day before Republic Day hence enjoying the fruits of a 4-day long weekend
B) Its multi starcast ensures that there is everything for everyone
C) The film looks like a sweet family entertainer with ample light hearted moments to keep you involved in the proceedings
D) It comes from Nikhil Advani, the director of 'Kal Ho Na Ho'
E) Last but not the least, some very good songs by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy that are already topping the charts
With number of such reasons in the film's favor and no major competition during the week with 'Parzania' being the only other release, it would be quite surprising if SEI doesn't take a start on par with some of the major successes of the year gone by. |

Green light for Traffic Signal as it arrives solo
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, January 23, 2007]
It couldn't have been better for Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Traffic Signal'.
After postponing its release from late 2006 to early 2007, it kept reconsidering the right release timing for itself and after thinking of January as an option, it settled for February 02. Though it was still a little risky since it was supposed to come only a week after 'Salaam E Ishq' and had 'Red' as the other release coinciding with it, it was a risk that Bhandarkar was willing to take.
Seems that risk has after all paid for Bhandarkar as 'Traffic Signal' would now be enjoying its status as the sole release of the week with 'Red' postponing to February 23rd. Moreover, even February 09 has two relatively low budget films releasing in the form of 'Black Friday' and 'Undertrial', each of which have their own target audience and hence won't be clashing with 'Traffic Signal'.
All eyes are now set on this dark comedy by Madhur Bhandarkar to arrive on the big screen and make an impression as a third in his Mumbai-based trilogy after 'Page 3' and 'Corporate'. |

Vikram Chatwal - From being a dad to a newly wed youngster
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, January 23, 2007]
After playing a man who plots the kidnapping of his own daughter in 'Ek Ajnabee', Vikram Chatwal dons a new hat in 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.' where he plays one of the 6 men out on a trip to Goa for a honeymoon with their spouses.
He along with Sandhya Mridul are one of the 6 young (and not-so-young) pairs in this directorial debut of Reema Kagti that is slated to arrive on February 23rd.
Their story is about a crossover couple who meet through internet and get married. While Sandhya belongs to Mumbai, Vikram plays a NRI. There is something intriguing about their love story in the film since everything about them seemed too good to be true!
What was so special about their relationship and how they carried it forward forms the surprise twist towards the climax.
Vikram has also acted in two crossover films titled 'Hope And a Little Sugar' and 'Karma, Confessions And Holi', both of which are completed and awaiting a theatrical release. |

"Kay Kay was extremely nervous" - Reema Kagti, director HTPL
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, January 23, 2007]
Director Reema Kagti is all praise for Kay Kay Menon and the rest of her cast of Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. "My brief to Farah (Khan) was that the dancing of Sajnaji Vaari Vaari should not look choreographed. She came up with the idea of not designing any steps but getting the actors to dance in their own style. And that element of spontaneity and letting loose is so visible on screen, that's why people are loving the energy in the song," says Reema.
The Sunidhi Chauhan number, shot atop a yacht in Goa over two days, is already on its way to becoming a chartbuster. "I think the audience has seen a very natural side to my actors in this song," laughs Reema. Clearly, Kay Kay Menon has stolen the thunder in that track, we tell her. "Kay Kay was extremely nervous to begin with but as the shoot progressed he came up with some crazy moves, which worked like a dream," she comments.
Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. releases worldwide on February 23. It is being distributed overseas by Studio 18. |

Water in Top-5 list for OSCARS
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, January 24, 2007]
After 'Lagaan', another film made by a director of Indian origin and narrating an Indian tale has been short listed for the OSCARS.
Edging past 'Rang De Basanti' in the first cut of nominations and now in the Top-5 list of 'Best Foreign Language Film', Deepa Mehta's 'Water', an entry from Canada, has reached the last leg of the Oscars. The films pitted against 'Water' are Days of Glory (Algeria), After The Wedding (Denmark), The Lives of Others (Germany) and Pan's Labyrinth (Mexico).
Ironically, in India the film is still awaiting for release. There is a good probability that it would be hitting the screens here on February 23rd.
In the category of 'Best Motion Picture', the films that have been nominated are Babel, Little Miss Sunshine, The Departed, Letters from Iwo Jima and The Queen. The directors in the shortlist are Martin Scorsese |

Celina makes a glamour statement in her upcoming films
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, January 24, 2007]
If you thought that her 'Sania Badnaam' act in 'Apna Sapna Money Money' had Celina playing the glam girl to the fullest then watch out for her upcoming films because there is more to come!
Her first release of 2007, 'Red', has Celina playing the glam role to perfection once again as she adds the right dose of passion, lust and fire in this mature story that has been never told before. Directed by Vikram Bhatt, the promos are generating enough heat to make audience want for more as the film readies itself for a February 23 release.
After about a couple of months, she would be igniting the heat once again in Suneel Darshan's 'Shakalaka Boom Boom' where, as per the director, she has given a powerful performance while keeping the glamour quotient intact as per the demand of the character. In the film, she has Bobby Deol and Upen Patel for company.
With successful films like 'No Entry', Zinda', 'Tom Dick and Harry' and 'Apna Sapna Money Money' behind her, Celina has indeed come a long way and is making quiet a mark in Bollywood. |

Who is the surprise package in HTPL?
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, January 24, 2007]
Though 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd' is enjoying immense attention due to its ensemble starcast, lively look and some very good music, there is another major attraction that is expected to be the trump card of the film when it releases all over on February 23rd.
While there are 6 main leads in the film - Kay Kay Menon, Abhay Deol, Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey, Vikram Chatwal and Karan Khanna - there is also a surprise package in the form of another star attraction, the identity of whom is revealed only towards the film's climax.
Let us give you a hint of who this man is! This hunky dude was launched around 5 years back in a 3 hero starrer which was a love story directed by a man who has been known for his crime thrillers. Sharing a name with one of the greatest mythological warriors ever, he was recently seen in a remake which was quite successful at the box office. |
