Defender Daniel Agger has told Liverpool that he will want a transfer if he is not guaranteed first-team football at Anfield.
The classy centre-back finally shook off a long-standing calf injury in order to return to the starting XI in the New Year's Day victory over Bolton.
But Agger, who has three years remaining on his contract, is not certain of a place in Roy Hodgson's plans amid competition from Martin Skrtel, Sotirios Kyrgiakos and, when he returns from a dislocated shoulder, vice-captain Jamie Carragher.
The Denmark international, who has been plagued by fitness problems throughout his career, will therefore consider his options if he finds that he does not have a regular part to play.
Agger, 26, told Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten: "I still have three years left on my contract with Liverpool but it's not me who decides if I'm playing.
"If I'm not playing and I'm not injured I have no reason to be here. I now have a certain age and I feel I have the level to play at this club.
"So if I'm not going to play and I'm on the bench for a while, obviously I'm not interested in being here. Then I must see what options I have."
Hodgson recently dismissed suggestions that Agger would leave Liverpool in the January transfer window after links to Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg.
