nih sedikit review about the singer...
If you buy Great Days: The John Prine Anthology, you may live to regret it. He's probably the best American folk-song lyricist of his generation, mixing low-key poignancy and deadpan humor in perfect proportions. His musical limitations serve to reinforce the understated nature of his art, and his short, plain-spoken lines (written in the offhand conversational style of his Midwestern and Appalachian characters) sneak through the back door of your imagination and won't leave. So where does the regret come in? Well, as you listen to the 41 songs arranged chronologically on these two CDs, you're going to ask yourself, "If someone can write 41 songs as good as these, isn't there a good chance he wrote more than 41?" After hearing the anthology's six songs from Prine's 1971 debut album, for example, you may decide to go out and buy that album itself. After you hear songs as delightful as "retty Good" and "Your Flag Decal," which didn't find their way into the collection, you may soon find yourself hunting down all 10 of Prine's original studio albums. Then you may regret having bought Great Days. --Geoffrey Himes |

FLAG DECAL
Well while digesting Reader's Digest
In the back of a dirty book store,
A flag decal, with gum on the back,
Fell out on the floor.
So I picked it up and I ran outside
And I slapped on my windowshield,
And if I could see old Betsy Ross now
I tell her how good I feel.
ch.
Oh but your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.
They're already overcrowded
From your dirty little wars.
Now Jesus he don't like killin'
No matter what the reason if for,
And your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.
(Well) I went into the bank this morning
and the teller she said to me,
"If you join our Chrismas club
we'll give you ten of those flags for free."
So I didn't mess around a bit
and I took her up on what she said.
And I stuck those stickers all over my car
And one on my wife's forehead.
(Chorus)
(Well) I got my car so stickered up
That I couldn't see.
Then I ran it right upside a curb
And then right into a tree.
By the time they called a doctor down
I was already dead.
And I'll never understand why the man
Standing at the Pearly Gates said...
Final Ch. Oh but your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.
We're already overcrowded
From your dirty little wars.
Now Jesus he don't like killin'
No matter what the reason is for,
And your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.

Or this romatic one...
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, - I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! - and, if God choose,
I shall but thee better after death.

Autumn Reverie
by Gina Ames
If you could capture love in a season,
which would it be?
I'd choose autumn for a specific reason,
it has a gold only lover's can see.
Sunlight swells and overflows onto the air
like warm kisses on your cheek,
like a face of a goddess, so fair,
and a bitterness somewhat sweet.
The world's forever wrapped in sentiment
or at least it seems
and when it leaves you'll lament
what cold the winter brings.
So hold your autumn reverie,
like a loved one against your chest;
see the gold that lovers see
and in it find your rest.

=what is the perfect moment to find love??
autumn...where usually people like to go out...
and the falling leaves and the colours surrounding
the season usually look like gold...which symbolizes
precious metal...so autumn for lovers represented
something that is precious and valuable...the time
where lovers can walk hand in hand in park or
garden...
That's all for now, folks...i am letting others to
have a shot too... |

=the loved one face is compared to a goddes
fair and sweet...being kissed by the sun...
another golden object...
The world's forever wrapped in sentiment
or at least it seems
and when it leaves you'll lament
what cold the winter brings.
=compare to winter which is
cold, regretted by most people..
So hold your autumn reverie,
like a loved one against your chest;
see the gold that lovers see
and in it find your rest.
=so enjoy the lovely autumn while
you can.... |

my intrepretation.....
mengikut penulis poem ni......
katalah kalau kita ni tengah bercinta...........berjln sambil pegang2 tangan lagi.........cuba kita bayangkan, which one is more romantic..........mana yg akan kita pilih.....walking hand in hand in summer, autumn, winter or spring.........
summer/musim panas........ada cahaya matahari yg memancar dgn teriknya, boleh tengok bayang2 kita lagi.......
winter/musim sejuk..........kita berjalan dalam suhu yg biasanya bawah 0 degree celcius, agak2 kita berjalan slow ke laju........
spring/musim bunga...........yg ni mungkin ok sikit, tapi mcm tak sesuai je/kalau nak main kejar2 mungkin sesuai......ala2 hindustan gitu....
autumn/musim luruh.........berada di tengah2 musim panas dan sejuk.....with all the falling leaves, the smells, the sunlight, etc.........."and knowing what cold the winter will bring after this".......u'll be hoping that this season will never end...........
senang citer..........kalau kita ambik gambar dlm empat2 season tu, bila kita tengok gambar tu.......which one will bring back more memories........
betul la mcm penulis ni cakap.........autumn....the most romantic season
