Kiss in Aceh
This angers Muslims
 An unidentified soldier gets a kiss from his girlfriend before he leaves for Aceh province. -AP
INDONESIA'S military commander in Aceh province, Major-General Supiadin Adisaputra, has apologised for one of his soldiers kissing his girlfriend in public.
The incident occurred when some 2,500 troops were about to board a ship at Lhokseumawe to leave Aceh under a government peace pact with separatist rebels.
A soldier from the country's main island of Java was kissed on the lips by his Acehnese girlfriend minutes before he was about to board.
This angered many in the staunchly Muslim province and students from the Indonesian Muslim Student Union protested at the governor's office in Banda Aceh.
They demanded that the soldier be flogged for what they called an adulterous act.
Very different from another kiss between a young man and his girlfriend in Paris over 50 years ago. The kiss, photographed by Robert Doisneau, became a famous poster icon around the world.
Then, the kiss was thought to be a spontaneous one between lovers, but was actually a posed picture for a spread on Paris lovers for Life magazine.
Meanwhile, North Aceh military spokesman Erie Sutiko conveyed Maj-Gen Supiadin's apology and said: 'It was a spontaneous act by two lovers. The ship was about to leave the port. The soldier has been reprimanded by the commander.' - AFP.

Tak mudah membuat pengorbanan seperti Farah Wahida untuk memenuhi impian sebagai penyanyi.
Di saat-saat beliau mempersiapkan diri untuk terbang ke awan biru apabila diterima bekerja sebagai pramugari sebuah syarikat penerbangan, beliau ditawarkan membuat album - tawaran yang memang dinanti-nantikan sejak menjadi finalis Anugerah 2004.
'Saya terpaksa buat pilihan,' kata Farah yang akhirnya memilih bidang yang menjadi darah dagingnya.
Apa nak buat, hampir kesemua bapa saudaranya (adik-beradik bapanya) adalah orang seni, termasuk Joe Salim (mantan anggota Sweet Charity) dan Hanafie Warren. Kedua-duanya memberi 'restu' untuk Farah meneruskan perjuangan seninya.
Farah, yang merupakan antara peserta pilihan Anugerah tahun lalu tetapi tewas kerana salah pilih lagu sebenarnya bukan tidak pernah dipancing syarikat rakaman. Bahkan sebaik saja pertandingan akhir tahun lalu berakhir, beliau dilamar beberapa penerbit.
'Masa tu saya tak mahu tergesa-gesa sebab saya harus pastikan saya bekerja dengan penerbit yang sesuai dengan suara saya,' ujarnya.
Beliau kini diuruskan syarikat Musicwerks tetapi lagu-lagunya diterbitkan Moluv Music.
Tarikan untuk beliau menyertai Moluv Music begitu kuat terutama apabila Farah mendapati penerbit Moliano memberinya lagu ciptaan Chossy Pratama yang biasa menghasilkan lagu untuk diva Indonesia seperti Ruth Sahanaya dan Kris Dayanti. Beliau jatuh hati dengan lagu berjudul Dan yang diberikan khas untuk Farah.
'Saya sempat bertemu Pak Chossy semasa beliau berada di Singapura. Beliau beri saya dorongan dan meyakinkan saya boleh pergi jauh kalau bekerja keras,' kata Farah.
Bahkan menurut Moliano, Pak Chossy tertarik dengan suara Farah yang berindentiti tersendiri.
Lagu Dan yang disertakan dalam album Gemilang bersama sembilan artis lain diharap menjadi pembuka selera kepada pendengar sebelum kemunculan album penuh Farah sekitar November ini. |
