A source told the daily that the MCA headquarters had on Monday night sent out text messages to CC members informing them of the emergency meeting tomorrow.
The source said party chief Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek called for the emergency meeting hoping to use the collective decision of the committee to put pressure on the prime minister regarding Ong.
It pointed out that at the CC meeting a week ago, Chua had made it clear he did not wish his predecessor to contest any seat as an MCA candidate.
The source said the CC also discussed how MCA should ask for another parliamentary seat to fill its quota should Najib give Ong the nod to contest Pandan.
It is learnt that Chua had talked to Najib on several occasions but failed to convince the prime minister to drop the idea of having Ong defend Pandan.
"The prime minister wants a winnable candidate (for Pandan). Chua is unable to convince the prime minister to accept his proposal to drop Ong."
The source said Chua was willing to lend an MCA seat to Umno or another BN component party in exchange for dropping Ong.---(sanggup bagi kerusi ,korbankan parti, semata mata dendam peribadi)
"There is even talk that MCA may threaten to leave BN if the prime minister does not accept the party's condition (for Ong to be dropped), but this cannot be confirmed," said the source.
It is learned that at last Tuesday's CC meeting, only vice-president Gan Ping Sieu, an old buddy of Ong, had fought for Ong to be fielded in Pandan.--besar punya gaduh camni pun tb3 tak nampak..![](static/image/smiley/default/lol.gif)
The source said that was the reason Gan has not only lost the chance to be fielded in Kluang, the seat he had been fighting for, but also Tebrau, as reported on Tuesday in another vernacular daily.
Meanwhile, a party insider said the topic of candidates would inevitably be the main agenda at today's meeting.
When contacted, Ong told
China Press he is only a "small fry" and did not warrant a CC meeting to decide his fate.
