Roy: Jimmy is Gunner cost you

ARSENAL have been warned it will take a special offer to grab Jimmy Bullard or Brede Hangeland from Fulham.

The Gunners are eyeing a £5million move for Norwegian centre-back Hangeland and have also been linked with a shock bid for England midfielder Bullard this month.

Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson admits he would be powerless to stop either player leaving if they wanted to join Arsenal but insists the Gunners will have to spend big.

He said: “You always worry that bigger clubs are out there. We have to deal with it.

“It would take something special for these players to move and I hope that something special doesn’t happen.”

Bullard, 29, has attracted interest from Stoke and Blackburn after talks over a new Fulham contract broke down.

He has 18 months left on his current deal and is currently out with a groin problem.

Hodgson added: “It would be naive to think we won’t get any offers for Jimmy just because he is injured at the moment.

“Look at Blackburn’s Roque Santa Cruz, he’s been injured yet he is still being linked with a move.

“Is Jimmy under the radar as he’s not playing? That’s not a bad thing but I’d prefer he was as he’s one of our best players.”

Hangeland, 27, has been a huge hit since his transfer from Danish side FC Copenhagen a year ago
