[News] Student Jailed for Blackmailing BoA
A college student in South Korea has been sentenced to 6 months in prison after he was caught blackmailing BoA and SM Entertainment over BoA's private pictures and email exchange with Danny Ahn, a member of now-disbanded boyband g.o.d.
According to NoCut News, the pictures and emails in question come from BoA's personal webpage, which was hacked by the blackmailer.
He reportedly demanded 35 million Korean won (approximately US$38,000) initially, but even after SM Entertainment paid the asked amount he demanded further 65 million won, at which point SM Entertainment reported the case to the police.
In a press release, SM Entertainment claimed that the blackmailer threatened to spread the pictures around the internet with false stories behind it, which would have gravely damaged BoA's image.

[News] BoA Blogs to Japan With Tempting Photos
Asian superstar BoA has become a messenger of Korean culture in Japan. The singer-dancer-model opened her Japanese blog in June, introducing many items from Korea like cold noodles, red-bean sherbet and street scenes from Seoul (blog.oricon.co.jp/boa). The photos on the website indicate that she has a real talent for photography.
The blog has become very popular with her Japanese fans, at times leading the Oricon chart, the country's most credible blog rankings. One reason for its popularity is BoA's frequent updates. She uploads articles and photos about once every two days, which attract many regular visitors.
Recently a photo of red-bean sherbet piqued the curiosity of many Japanese netizens. BoA explained how the dish is made and the proper way to eat it. "Koreans eat this at cafes," she wrote. "We make it from ice and red beans with toppings such as white rice cakes and jellies."
When she started the blog she wrote, "I'll write a lot of articles here including what I think and how I feel, especially focusing on my activities in Korea." She appears to be excelling in her role as a volunteer civilian diplomat.

BoA thanks her fans

BoA, who has had all her six albums rank 1st place in the Japanese Oricon Weekly Album Chart, expressed her thanks to her fans through an entry, which she titled “Weekly Chart, 1st Place~ Yahoo~” in her Oricon blog.
She posted the entry on March 5 with the message, “Thanks to you my 6th album ranked 1st place. A shout out to everyone. Yahoo! I deeply appreciate it. My wish that a lot of people listens to it was fulfilled”
BoA also invited her fans to share the fun on her 14-city Japanese tour that will be held from May 8 to June 29.

BoA’s secret to her beautiful voice

Junichi Sports newspaper reported last March 13 of BoA’s secret to her beautiful voice, which she revealed during a recent radio guesting (Nagoya). People would think her secret is something extraordinary but BoA is no high-maintenance for she only needs noodles to belt out the tunes.
“I like noodles. I frequently go to restaurants and eat ramyeon or buckwheat noodles. I can’t sing well if I’m hungry. People don’t recognize me when I’m in a restaurant,” BoA shared.
BoA also commented that the song “Hey Boy, Hey Girl,” which she sang with SEAMO, is a romantic and lovely song that was difficult to sing. She joked that she “still looked gloomy” even though she sang it as “happy” as she can be.

The Kwon siblings, Soon-hwon, Soon-uk and BoA, are very supportive of each other.
In fact, Kwon Soon-uk (27) directed the music video of the “Laprimo” digital album of pianist Kwon Soon-hwon (28).
Although BoA and his 2 older brothers have different fields they work in, they still manage to help and support each other. Like last year, BoA returned to Korea from Japan to attend the launching of her brother Kwon Soon-uk’s fashion accessories business. Her other brother, Kwon Soon-hwon, showed her support for his sister and did a piano performance during BoA’s showcase.
Kwon Soon-hwon is currently preparing to enter the Royal Academy of Music in London, which is one of the world’s leading music schools. Aside from directing music videos, Kwon Soon-uk has also expanded his business into the jewelry brand Ramee, which will be available at the Lotte Young Plaza in Myeongdong.
Meanwhile, “BoA the Live X’mas” DVD will be available in Korea on the 26th. The DVD, which showcases BoA’s performance at the Tokyo Forum Hall on December 11, 2007, was released in Japan last March 19.
