Squatters want land they have lived on for 50 years

THE government and the mayor of Kuala Lumpur are facing lawsuits from Sg Besi squatters.
A total of 20 residents of Kampung Pakar, near Taman Sg Besi, are asking for their rights to own the land they have lived on for more than 50 years.
The residents live on two pieces of land, one that is owned by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the other owned by the third defendant, Daya Impian Sdn Bhd. The company procured the land from DBKL in 1993 and since then have started developing a part of it as an industrial area.
“It is not fair that DBKL sold the land to the company and not tell us,” said Chong Thiam Loy, a resident of the place.
Residents of a nearby settlement were given titles to the land they lived on and the residents of Kampung Pakar are wondering why they have not been given a similar opportunity.
“We have not been treated fairly and we want them to give us a proper explanation and reasonable compensation as well,” Chong added.
DBKL issued notices to the 80 families in Kampung Pakar in April to relocate to the Kampung Muhibbah flats located nearby in order to develop the area.
As compensation, the residents are only receiving RM3,000 to RM6,000 to evacuate the land.
“They plan to sell each acre for six million ringgit and for 15 years they have collected a rental of RM20mil from the industrial area,” said Banie Chin, the MCA Seputeh Division vice-chairman.
Banie said the company planned to divide the land so their profit from that alone would be RM60mil.
“It is unfair that the people get such a small amount compared with what the (defendant) will be earning,” he added.
To top it all off, the residents have been asked to move out within the next two months and it is said that thugs and gangsters have been enlisted to prompt the residents to move.
“We have made a police complaint after their visit but this has not stopped them from coming back,” Banie said.
Chong said it was not the residents intention to fight the government but they were merely asking for what was rightfully theirs.
The residents with the help of MCA Seputeh Division have enlisted the help of lawyers and they served all three defendants with notices and a statement of claim on July 14.
A DBKL representative said City Hall would leave the issue to the court to decide. |

Cadangan kuota 40% itu untuk semua jenis pelaburan bukan melayu la bodoh. Ertinya syarikat kerajaan serta pelabur asing juga boleh terlibat.

Apa nak kira % plak..kira camner indon mai Malaysia boleh buat rumah banglo besar2 pakai kereta besar2 sudah lah...bukan sorang...ramai..so..kenapa mereka boleh orang Malaysia sendiri tak boleh...itu gambaran yg AN nak ko tengok..tapi kalau ko tak nampak...AN tak hairan pung..dah lembab nak macam mana.

saya kurang faham persoalan botak ni..soalan tu macam umum je..melayu luar negara tu adakah bermaksud melayu malaysia duk luar negara atau melayu singapore, thai, indon yg duduk dinegara masing2?. |
