'GIRLFRIEND'S ISHA FELT LIKE GETTING MARRIED

Isha Koppikar has shot to fame through her recently released controversial movie 'Girlfriend'. As a result she has a long queue of her admirers, mostly directors, making her lucrative offers. This is due to her nod for acting in all types of roles. Besides, she has recently acted in an album of songs based on the movie 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram'. This is indeed a hit for her as the song is very popular. The album will be titled 'Bhor' comprising the song 'Bhor Gaye Panghat Pe Mohe Natkhat Shyam Sataye'.

Her acting in 'Bhor' compares well with her role in 'Girlfriend' as far as her sexy display with Amrita Rao is concerned. She looks sexy. It is said that the song video shooting was done in Mauritius. Again, she has done as well as Zeenat Aman did it in 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram'.

'LAGAAN' GIRL BANKS ON 'SHART'

The magic of 'Lagaan' girl Gracy Singh faded away in 'Muskan' and now she banks on her new film 'Shart' to come back to the frontline of Bollywood. After the super hit 'Lagaan', if 'Muskan' would have become a success then Gracy Singh must have clicked in Bollywood. The reason is simple as she got a central role in 'Muskan' for the first time. She is coming in 'Shart' with Tusshar Kapoor. It is being told that she has a special role in this film too and it suits her. She is more optimistic about this film.

Gracy Singh is crazy about the film 'Shart', and says, "All the members of the unit have labored hard and I hope this film will bring success to me for which I have been waiting from a long time." Though she is banking on the success of 'Shart', yet she is the one who had delayed it, it is alleged. But she clarifies. "During those days I was so busy that I was unable to give the dates which the director was seeking." She also does not hesitate to blame Amrita for the delay in the commencement of the shooting of the film. Everybody knows that she didn't have many films with her as not to give dates for 'Shart'. Then why the dates were not given is a moot point. She had only two films with her like 'Vajeh' and 'Yehi Hai Zindagi.' Despite this Gracy could not give dates to the director of 'Shart'. This is the gossip in the film world.

Her bad relationship with Tusshar Kapoor and Amrita during the shooting of the film was also a matter of gossip. And Gracy says, "I can't develop friendship with anybody at once and I can't also move around with anybody without any work. If some people do not like my attitude then what I can do. I am an introvert girl and only think about my work."

In 'Yehi Hai Zindagi' her role matches to her personal life, as she tells. She says, "I am a classical dancer and after performing this role I feel my dream is fulfilled." Now Gracy Singh will appear in a new role in the film Vajeh. 'Vajeh' is a thriller and is being directed by Markand Adhikari. Gracy claims that "Vajeh is a special kind of film which will bring me satisfaction. This is a thriller, and I was looking for a thriller from the beginning."

Gracy is also appearing in a special role in the film 'Dil Hamko Deejiye', based on Raj Babbar's Punjabi background. Gracy is anxiously waiting to act in films like 'Lagaan', which can be super hit and bring her that identity that she is looking for a long time. After working with an acting icon of Bollywood like Amir Khan she wonders whether she would like to act with Aftab, Arbaaz and Tusshar. However, only time will tell this.

KARISMA TV SERIAL TO CONTINUE

Karisma Kapor was always excited about her TV serial titled 'Karisma: Miracles of Destiny', and looked forward towards completing it with its 260 episodes. However, there are reports to the contrary in the industry about the future of her serial. Karisma considered the serial as one time opportunity in her life. She was proud that she plays grandmother, mother and daughter-all the three combined in her serial. Fantastic! Her director Akashdeep also denies any such report and calls it a rumor only.

He doesn't want to enter any controversy either as he has had enough of it at the time of the launch of the serial. As feared earlier, the movie 'Fida' starring Fardeen Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, has created a controversy though post-release. Fardeen calls his co-star Shahid an immature person and vise versa. It is wondered if the controversy has not arisen out of Kareena Kapoor acting with Fardeen Khan. How Karena would react to Fardeen's remark about Shahid Kapoor calling the latter immature is to be watched? This is to recall Kareena's Ultimatum to all not to dare talk ill of Shahid otherwise she would not mind killing that person, whosoever it may be.

SANJAY IN COURT AFTER FOREIGN TRIP

In keeping with a judicial order, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, facing charges in 1993 bomb blast case, appeared before a designated TADA court to register his presence following his return from a trip abroad. Sanjay was allowed to visit the US for the shooting of his film 'Dus' and to Canada and other places. The actor also visited Chicago to attend Independence Day celebrations on August 14 on an invitation by the Counsel General of India. On a plea made by Sanjay's lawyer Farhana Shah, the court also permitted Sanjay to meet his daughter Trishala in New York.

The actor has been exempted from personal appearance till August 30.Sanjay is facing the charge of possessing an AK-56 rifle and destroying the weapon. Central Bureau of Investigation has alleged that underworld don Abu Salem had gone to his residence along with other accused to deliver the weapon. The actor denied the charges and the witnesses also did not support the prosecution's case. CBI examined 686 witnesses and the evidence has crossed 13,000 pages. The accused are charged with carrying out serial blasts on March 12, 1993, killing 256 people and injuring 713 besides damaging property worth Rs 270 million

Shilpa to change image

Shilpa Shetty has played glamorous roles until now. She has done a number of item numbers besides displaying her body in a large number of movies. The long legged Shilpa was seen with a relatively pigmy sized though with strong physique Salman in her recent movie 'Garv'. However, she wants to change her image now. So she would shed her showy clothes for simple linen, boutique and hand printed ones. In her next 'Phir Milenge' she meets again but in the role of an ordinary working woman. Her designer Anu Sundaram has chosen very simple dress for her in this movie. Her dress will be such as to make her look like a simple Indo-Western woman. Besides, she would have the least make-up as per the demand of her character.

Abhishek, Soha to repeat parents

Another coincidence that Abhishek Bachchan is pairing with Soha Ali Khan , daughter of Sharmila Tagore, in a Bengali movie directed by Rituparno Ghosh. This reminds us of a one time romantic pair of Amitabh Bachchan and Sharmila Tagore. Now children of both stars have grown up and joined the same profession. The luck has brought the children together though after decades. Hopefully this pair of Abhishek and Soha will be no less romantic than their parents.

Priyanka changes image

Priyanka Chopra has a pleasing personality. She doesn't want to make anybody unhappy. That's why all the producers and the directors are always happy working with her. They do not face any problem of getting dates from her. She kept it up since she entered films. However, there is a change in her image now. Her personality has also undergone a drastic change, maybe because of not very satisfactory response of the audience to her movies. We find an altogether different Priyanka now, both on the screen and off the screen. The producer of 'Benaam' is reported to be in tears as she is not giving him dates to complete his project. This is one side of her real life. In the reel life too, Priyanka Chopra is playing the role of a bad woman. This is for the first time that she is playing the character of a villain. She hopes that the changed image would save her career from being ruined.

The news has been confirmed! Hrithik and Suzanne Roshan are expecting their first child in April, 2006. The couple tied the knot in 2000 and they had a traditional Hindu as well as Muslim wedding. For Hrithik, this marks a new phase in his life, i.e. fatherhood. He is ecstatic about the prospect of becoming a father. Also Roshan Sr. and his wife Pinky are overjoyed. They do not have any preferences for a baby boy or girl. This will be the second time that they will become grandparents. They have an 8-year-old grand daughter, who is their daughter Sunaina抯 child.

Interestingly Roshans other baby will also come around in June 2006. We are talking about Krrish!

Arjun Rampal in Darna Zaroori Hai

Ram Gopal Varma抯 Darna Zaroori Hai was launched a couple of years back as a sequel to his episodic supernatural thriller Darna Mana Hai. But after some time there was no buzz on the film. Factory抯 churned out other products without much ado on the sequel. Some in the media started with the rumors that the movie is shelved.

But after some time Ramu came back with the film and with double vigor. He shot the first supernatural episode himself with Amitabh Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh. This was before even Sarkar had gone on floors. And now he has roped in bigger and better stars for the film. Anil Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat were signed for one of the episodes while Randeep Hooda for the other. Sajid Khan directed one episode that featured Manoj Pahwa.

And now the cast of Darna Zaroori Hai just got bigger. Arjun Rampal is being considered for one of the episodes. The actor confirms that he was approached by RGV and will soon sign on the dotted lines.

Wait and watch which names will fill in the remaining episodes of Darna Zaroori Hai!

Toronto's toast: John, Lisa

Padma Lakshmi or Lisa Ray?  

The debate is on as to who made the bigger splash at the Toronto International Film Festival during its first five days.

Padma has a small part in the Aishwarya Rai starrer The Mistress Of Spices, which has its world premiere at the fest. Lisa plays an abused widow in Deepa Mehta's Water.

Both delighted the photographers at the promotional events and parties for the two movies. Ash, who plays the title character in The Mistress Of Spices, could not make it to the festival.

"This is the people's festival, and the audiences here are really star-struck," complained a photographer.

"She (Aishwarya) could have been the most glamorous story of this festival."

Also making huge waves is John Abraham, who plays the idealist lawyer in Water, showing ample promise as a low-key actor. The debate is still on whether he managed to get more coverage than the likes of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.

But there is no doubt that the paparazzi simply love John. Women photographers in particular, of course. The number of them who have exchanged their cell phone numbers with him could set a Toronto record.

"Isn't he awesome," gushed one photographer. "And isn't he a terrific actor? Couldn't take my eyes off him on the screen."

But John Abraham is taking things in his stride, tasting his first experience at an international film festival --- by now Toronto has become the second most popular and written about film festival worldwide, after Cannes --- and he has been busy giving interviews to a horde of journalists.

Deepa Mehta's controversial film, which shows the outrageous abuse of widows (in particular one young widow, played by Ray) in an ashram in an unnamed Indian city in the 1930s, opened the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8. It received fair to good reviews, but the footage on the film and how it was shut down by the fundamentalists in Varanasi about five years ago was stunning.

John Abraham says he was not worried about the controversy surrounding the first attempt to make the film.

"Having Deepa Mehta's name on my CV was far more important to me than the politics in my country," he said. "I am an actor, and I don't pretend that I understand politics."

While Water is being distributed in America by Fox Searchlight, The Mistress of Spices, based on an international bestseller by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni and centering around a woman with healing powers, is still looking for a distributor. That status could change soon, following its premiere. Already the trade weekly Variety has named it among the 10 films that are hot for distributors at TIFF.

Is Kareena out of 'Love Story?

Kareena Kapoor seems to be involved more in her elder sister Karisma Kapoor's family life than in her filmi career, especially after the latter's estranged relations with her husband Sunjay Kapoor. How else there hasn't been any of her films released for quite sometime? Besides, producer Harry Baweja has deferred Kareena Kapoor starrer 'Love Story'. He is stated to have decided even to drop Kareena from his mega movie to launch his son Harman in the lead role. There is a good news for her too. Subhash Ghai has signed her for his next. And, her 'Milenge Milenge' starring her boyfriend Shaahid Kapoor, has been successfully completed.

Bips in new avatar in 'Corporate'

Bengal beauty Bipasha Basu will soon be seen in her new avatar, as she will be acting in Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Corporate'. Bips is very excited; she has changed herself completely for her role in this movie that will be quite different from her earlier bold and sexy roles. She feels that in 'Corporate' she will be able to play a performance-oriented role. Since she plays a Bengali girl in 'Corporate' she claims that she will showcase her Bengali mannerism.

SAIF PREFERS PROFESSION TO REMARRIAGE

Saif Ali Khan has recently shot to fame in Bollywood by his performance in 'Parineeta' and bagged a National award too. He has professionally achieved a lot, but has suffered no less in his personal life. Though he is looking forward to more fame in Yashraj Films' next 'Salaam Namaste', yet he is quite sad on his relationships with his ex-wife Amrita Singh and their children. Yes, he has a new girlfriend in Rosa, but doesn't want to marry her, presumably because of the past memories of Amrita and children. He hasn't forgotten the golden period of his married life.

He considers the marriage great, but has had enough of it. In view of all this, it seems that he will continue his life with his girlfriend, but not marry with her. He would rather concentrate on his professional work to achieve excellence like his parents who rose to great heights - father Nawab of Pataudi in Cricket and mother Sharmila in films. Besides, he will devote the spare time for his beautiful children. The junior nawab has also vowed not to talk in public about his personal life as he has suffered a lot in this past on this count. So, he wants to keep them to his bosom.

Preity averse to becoming unwed mother

Preity Zinta is the one actress who realizes the need for a man in every female's life. The woman is not complete without a man. Man is essential to complete a family. "I do not want to become an unwed mother. I know my responsibilities. My father died when I was 13. After his death, I realized the importance of a man in a family. While a man uses his mind, the woman uses her heart. She is too emotional. Man knows how to solve complicated problems." Both mind and heart are needed to run a family, she adds.

Bipasha Basu is losing her charm as far as her boyfriend is concerned. If the media reports are to be believed John Abraham is moving closer to Lara Dutta these days. This was witnessed during the shooting of 'Aailaan', where John told Lara that she was looking very sexy. This was too much for Bipaha to bear, and she rushed to gym for looking slimmer and sexier. Bipasha is said to have lost ten kilograms meanwhile.

Shahid as Anil Kapoor's son-in-law

Shahid Kapoor is presently acting in Feroz Nadiadwala's movie with Anil Kapoor, who is playing a don. Shahid begs the hand of the don's daughter. Shahid is intelligent too. He has learnt a lot from Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan, and doesn't repeat their mistakes. So he declined a few movie offers, including those of Karan Johar and Subhash Ghai. He says he said no to Karan Johar as he was busy those days in John Mathew's movie. Shahid also refused Ghai's 'Khanna Patel' as he is doing a similar role in 'Fida' these days.

Aish to replace Katrina in 'Barsaat'

It is reliably learnt that Sunil Darshan is approaching Aishwarya Rai for his movie 'Barsaat' to replace Katrina Kaif. Earlier, Sunil had signed Katrina Kaif for 'Barsaat' opposite Akshay Kumar. However, Sunil has found out that Katrina has started showing less interest in his movie after she got a chance to work opposite Salman Khan in another movie. Moreover, Sunil Dharshan is impressed by the performance of the Aishwarya and Akshay Kumar pair in Raj Kumar Shantoshi's 'Khakee'. Besides, it was Akshay Kumar who had taken all possible care of Aishwarya Rai when she was injured during the shoot at Nasik. Thus both of them had become good friends. Recently, Sunil Dharshan met with Aishwarya Rai during the shoot of 'Shabd' being produced under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications in Goa. Possibly Aishwarya will participate in 'Barsaat' shoot next month.
