a) Savannah cat
b) The Savannah is a hybrid domestic cat breed. It is a cross between the serval and a domestic cat. Savannahs are considered one of the larger breeds of domesticated cats.Their tall and slim build gives Savannahs the appearance of greatersize than their actual weight. F1 hybridand F2 hybrids are usually the largest, due to the stronger geneticinfluence of the African Serval ancestor. Male Savannahs tend to belarger than females. Early generation Savannahs may weigh 10 to 25 lbs.Size is also very dependent on generation and sex, with F1 male catsusually being the largest. Later generation Savannahs are usuallybetween 8-17 lbs. Because of the random factors in Savannah hybridgenetics, there can be significant variation in size, even in onelitter. Some breeders report Savannahs in excess of 30 pounds, with atleast one breeder claiming an over 40 pound male. Savannahs have been described as friendly, assertive, active, playful and interested in dogs and children.
They are commonly compared to dogs in their loyalty, and they will follow their owners around the house like a canine. They can also be trained to walk on a leash like a dog, and even fetch |

a. Oriental
b.
The Oriental was developed to explore all the possibilities of color and pattern. Since its initial acceptance in CFA, Oriental breeders have maintained a constant pace to fulfill the breadth of this destiny. The Oriental has an equally colorful personality. They are closely linked to the people they claim as their own and desperately want to share their lives with you.
In the busiest moments, your Oriental will find a way to interrupt your activities; a little nudge while you eat, a close examination of your tooth brush prior to use, or some help tying your shoes before you leave in the morning. It抯 understood you抣l need help deciding which items to select from the refrigerator! In the calmest of times they抣l share the warmth of your lap, provide a comforting purr, and nuzzle your chin when you need it the most.
They eagerly greet you at the door and tell you all about their day. If you抮e late, they will scold you and tell you how worried they were that you didn't call. Hide their feather on top of the refrigerator? Wrong! Curiosity and intelligence combine, providing them a means of finding anything and everything. They have been known to open a drawer, or empty your purse to discover their favorite toy. It might be a pen or a crumpled up piece of paper that they can chase around the kitchen floor, it really doesn抰 matter. Give them the attention and affection they so desperately need, and they will do anything to please you. Ignore them, and they will droop with despair. These elegant, svelte cats remain playful, spirited and loyal well beyond their youth.
From the tip of its nose to the end of its long, whippy tail, the Oriental is a study in sleek design. This elegant cat gracefully glides across the room on its tall, slender legs. The lines of its angular head flow into its large flaring ears, and are complimented by its almond shaped eyes. Don抰 be fooled by the svelte, tubular body; these cats have surprising weight and muscle tone and are neither frail nor fragile.
Orientals represent a diverse group of cats that have their foundation in the Siamese breed. When the Oriental Shorthair was accepted for championship status in 1977 it rapidly became one of CFA抯 most popular breeds. With the 1995 addition of the Oriental Longhair into this family of sleek, muscular felines the Oriental breed can provide a cat for just about anyone.
With over 300 different colors and patterns to choose from, you抮e guaranteed to find an Oriental that will tickle your fancy. Imagine a Siamese wearing a head to toe coat in white, red, cream, ebony, blue, chestnut, lavender, cinnamon or fawn. These are our solids. For a sparkling undercoat, stir in the silver gene (to all but the white), and you have a smoke Oriental. Perhaps, instead, you'd like the color restricted to the tips of the hair. For this, we have the shadeds to whet your appetite. Paint splashes of red and/or cream on any of these coats and you have a parti-color. |

a.ocicat
b.
The first breeder of Ocicats was Virginia Daly, of Berkley,Michigan, who attempted to breed an Abyssinian-pointed Siamese in 1964.The first generation of kittens appeared Abyssinian, but the surprisingresult in the second generation was a spotted kitten, Tonga, nicknamed an 'ocicat' by the breeder's daughter.
Tonga was neutered and sold as a pet, but further breedings of hisparents produced more spotted kittens, and became the base of aseparate Ocicat breeding program. Other breeders joined in and used thesame recipe, siamese * aby, and offspring * siamese. Today the ocicatis found all around the world, popular for its temperament but wildappearance.
Ocicats are a very outgoing breed. They are often considered to havethe spirit of a dog-in a cat's body. Most can easily be trained tofetch, walk on a leash and harness, come when called, speak, sit, liedown on command and a large array of other dog-related tricks. Most areespecially good at feline agility because they are very toy-driven.Some even take readily to the water. Ocicats are also very friendly.
Theywill typically march straight up to strangers and announce that they'dlike to be petted. This makes them great family pets, and most can alsoget along well with animals of other species. Ocicats make excellentpets for people who want to spend a lot of time with their cat, butthey do require more attention than cats who aren't so people-oriented.
There are twelve colors approved for the ocicat breed. Tawny, chocolateand cinnamon, their dilutes, blue, lavender and fawn, and all of themwith silver: black silver (ebony silver), chocolate silver, cinnamonsilver, blue silver, lavender silver and fawn silver. |

a.sokoke cat
b.The Sokoke is a breed of cat.The original name of the breed was Khadzonzos. The Khadzonzos cats werediscovered in the Arabuko-Sokoke forest, on the Kenyan coast, by JeniSlater in 1978. Gloria Moeldrop, a friend of Slater's, brought some of the cats home with her to Denmark to breed.
The Khadzonzos cats were discovered in the Arabuko-Sokoke forest, onthe Kenyan coast, by Jeni Slater in 1978. Gloria Moeldrop, a friend of Slater's, brought some of the cats home with her to Denmark to breed because Jeni Slater feared for the survival of the cat in Kenya. In 1990, she imported more cats from Kenya to strengthen the breeding stock. The catswere first shown in Copenhagen in 1984. The breed was officiallyrecognized by the FIFe in 1993, with the name changed to Sokoke, afterwhere they came from.
Therehas been some speculation as to whether this is a domestic cat or adescendant of a wild cat that has domesticated itself. DNA testing hasconfirmed no wild genes however. The Sokoke appears to have been aferal domestic cat.
Sokoke cats (or African Shorthair) originated from the Sokoke Arabukeforest in Kenia and became known in Europe in the 20th century. In 1978 a Kenyan farmer found a litter of kittens in a coconutplantation. They were very special with a "blotched tabby" pattern and"foreign" body type. Like many African species, these cats arevirtually extinct in the wild. Sokokes have blotched tabby coats in shades of brown, with amber to light green eyes. The center of the patterns are hollowlooking due to the agouti gene producing a "salt and pepper" look.Their coats are short and coarse, with little to no undercoat.Accordingly they have felt the cold when exported to Denmark.
Their bodies are long and thin, with long legs. The back legs should belonger than the front legs, similar to an ocelot. Sokokes are veryactive and enjoy climbing and "talking" to their people. They arehealthy cats although they did suffer illness initially apparentlyafter being exported to Denmark. This breed is now bred in Denmark,Norway, USA and Canada.
In 1990, she imported more cats from Kenya to strengthen the breeding stock. The catswere first shown in Copenhagen in 1984. The breed was officiallyrecognized by the FIFe in 1993, with the name changed to Sokoke, afterwhere they came from. The first Sokoke cats were importedto Denmark in the 1980's. Records of them and their offspring have beenkept very carefully. Sokoke cats were accepted by FIFe only in 1993.This breed preserves unique genes that are unknown among thetraditional cat breeds.
They remain a real feline mystery, because they could belong to anunknown genus or may be a mixture of an African wild cat and a Europeandomestic cat. Some scientists consider the Sokoke cat to be the missinglink to the emergence of the classic tabby pattern in the majority of all domesticated cats. Sokokes have blotched tabby coats in shades of brown, with amber to light green eyes. Their coats are short and coarse, withlittle to no undercoat. Their bodies are long and thin, with long legs.
The Kenyan tribes differentiate three wild genera of these cats andseveral domesticated ones. In ancient times these cats were part of thediet of the Giriama tribe and were eaten in preference to the domesticstock. The Giriama name for Sokoke cats is "Katzonzo," which means:"look like tree bark." The back legs should be longer than the frontlegs, similar to an ocelot. Sokokes are very active and enjoy climbingand "talking" to their people. |
