Lotus Evora Enduro GT race car
Lotus has unveiled the new Lotus Evora Enduro GT race car at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. The car will be available to private punters and is eligible to compete in GT2/GTE homologated road car race series events.
Powering the Evora Enduro GT is a 4.0-litre V6 Cosworth dry-sump race engine derived from the VVT-i 2GR-FE. In this it delivers 328kW of power at 7000rpm. It also offers 460Nm of torque which is sure to help hurl the lightweight to and from corners. A sequential six-speed then hooks up the power to the rear wheels.
Other race-ready features include a sinted dual-plate clutch, Ohlins shock absorbers, coaxial coil springs and uni-ball wishbone joints for optimum adjustability. There’s also six-piston race brake calipers on the front, and four-piston calipers on the rear, these clamp two-piece discs with 22mm race pads. Racing wheels complete the package and offer centre-hub spindles catering for quick changes at the track.
The Lotus Evora Enduro GT race car comes with an FIA-approved fuel system, roll cage, HANS-compliant passenger seat with six-point harness and a HANS-compliant carbon fibre driver’s seat with a matching harness system. To top off the race-car character of the Evora Enduro GT, it also comes with an air-jack system which lifts the car off the ground at the touch of a button.
Thanks to the addition of lightweight components and panels, such as carbon fibre doors, Lotus says the entire vehicle weighs in at just 1160kg. This is sure to be a cracker of a car out on the race track, look out for it in upcoming race events. |

All hail the mighty Evora GTE road car. Producing over 444 PS from the race developed Lotus Evora GTE engine, this is, quite simply, the most powerful Lotus road car ever built. Yet contrary to its extreme roots, the Evora GTE road car also delivers a comfortable and refined element to its high performance driving characteristics.
Originally designed as a special limited edition for the Asian market, Group Lotus can now announce that production will be expanded on the Evora GTE road car to meet demand and reach further markets.
Lotus Lightweight DNA: Clever use of carbon fibre has been integrated extensively throughout the exterior and interior of the car, this is one major contributors to the 105kg weight reduction versus the base Evora. Carbon fibre has been used for all the bodywork modifications including the front and rear bumpers, the rear wing and the doors.
Commenting on the Evora GTE road car, Group Lotus CEO Dany Bahar said: “The response to this model in China has been so incredible, within days we had sold out with 114 orders. In response we decided that the only logical step from a business perspective was to increase production and widen our reach.

Mercedes drivers reveal new DTM car
Mercedes Formula 1 drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg were on-hand to reveal the company’s brand-new DTM car on Tuesday. At the Frankfurt Motor Show, the covers were taken off the AMG Mercedes C-Coupé which features an improved safety concept and high-strength steel roll cage.
Schumacher and Rosberg were joined by Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management at Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars Division, plus Norbert Haug, Vice President for Mercedes-Benz Motorsport.
“The new 2012 DTM car looks fantastic, but what I find even more impressive than the car's visual appearance is the new safety concept with its innovative safety cell and more advanced carbon-fibre crash structures,” said Schumacher. “I've got my fingers crossed for everyone in the Mercedes-Benz DTM team.
“I was pleased to take part in the unveiling,” Rosberg added. “It looks really cool and I particularly like the chrome finish. The car is certainly an important step forward for the DTM, which is a great series.
“I began my career racing on the same weekends as the DTM (in the F3 Euro Series) and it will attract even more fans in 2012 when the third manufacturer (BMW) arrives.” |
