you mentioned...they are considered the CANON...the real literature...
though many still in doubt actually what are really great works that
can be considered into the CANON...caused literature are spreading

so sastera/literature could be writing in any form...
wonder if graffiti's could be deemed as a literature as well...err..not those found in toilets though..but like those on Graceland's wall (they pay homage to Elvis) or those which calls for revolution that gives Cuba's drab wall a bit of colour.. |

we know that he smokes pipe...but is he a cocaine user as well? or was it 'legal' during Holmes times?
I think I remembered couple of passages that refers to Holmes drug use in err...I think it was in "Scandal in Bohemia(?)"..If I'm not mistaken, it's the case when Holmes was outwitted (I think the only time) by a woman...a former mistress to a King or something... |

Not so much of a Holmes reader, probably because I think Watson idolises him too much, thus cannot see fault (not much) in Holmes.
I particularly remember how Watson commented in each time that Holmes disguises himself, the stage have lost a great actor. :bgrin:
Much prefer Hercule Poirot...at least he have his flaws..even Don Quixote seems more human than Holmes...and Quixote usually was potrayed as a fox! ahahahaa..or am I confusing that one with some comic book? hmmm |

Baca Mingguan Malaysia hari ni....terpanggil nak diskus pasal sastera diinspirasikan menjadi filem...cam Karya Shakespeare, dickens, Austen dan terkini Rowling n Tolkien....kat Malaysia lak...Shahnon Ahmad n Khadijah Hashim contohnya....

Ternyata filem tidak pernah mencuri khalayak yg membaca novel. Malah sastera mengasah minda bekerja sebagai persiapan mental utk 'membaca' imejan-imejan di filem....
Sastera jauh lebih awal menemui manusia berbanding filem. Filem pertama kali dihasilkan pada 1895 oleh adik-beradik Lumiere di Paris. Secara relatifnya filem sgt muda....barangkali kerana mudalah filem pada zaman awal hingga kini disokong kuat oleh sastera. Filem tidak pernah berdiri sendiri tanpa elemen sastera...

buku nie aku pernah baca kalau tak silap tahun 1993, atau mungkin lebih awal dari tu.
aku tak ingat macam mana plotnya..mungkin sebab aku rasa tak best sangat kot (masa tu english pun tak power lagi-sekarang pun tak power jugak).
buku buku yang aku baca zaman tu di antaranya ialah siri hardy boys dan biggles.
di antara cerita yang menarik perhatian aku ialah, the black tulip, count of monte cristo, escape from alcatraz.
syok jugak bila aku dengar count of monte cristo akan difilemkan. (2002?). tapi plot banyak lari. memang citer tu susah la nak buat ikut buku, jadi panjang nantinya.
kadang kadang aku baca balik citer citer zaman silam ni kat

lagi satu, aku syorkan baca citer tarzan of the ape. aku tengah cari balik citer escape from alcatraz....dulu aku baca (1991) memang mengkagumkan....tak ingat plak sama ada escape from alcatraz yang difilemkan oleh Clint Eastwood ikut plot buku nie atau tidak. |

;) Buku ni boleh di sewa kat Central Market, kedai kat bawah tu. Sama tempat saya sewa buku 'The Kalahari Typing School for Men' tu.
Tajuk dia 'To Kill A Mockingbird' ditujukan rasanya kepada watak Tom Robinson tu. Dia ni yg jadi mangsa perkauman org kulit putih. Dia tak bersalah tapi dituduh rogol org putih. Burung 'mockingbird' ni kecil aja dan tak ganggu sapa-sapa pun. Jadi kira macam 'aniaya' jer kalau ada org yang nak bunuh burung ni.
Buku ni lah satu-satu jer buku yg dihasilkan oleh Harper Lee ni sampai dapat Hadiah Pulitzer tu.
Watak Boo Radley tu mengingatkan saya kepada watak orang tua misteri dalam filem "Home Alone" tu. Mula-mula si Macauley Culkin tu ingat dia tu orang jahat dan misteri tapi kemudian baru dia tau yang orang tua tu sebenarnya memang baik hati. Entah-entah filem ni tiru watak Boo Radley kot.
Penceritaan melalui cara 'first person perspective' iaitu melalui watak Scout Finch tu membuat kita tak dapat nak mendalami watak-watak lain. Mungkin sebab Scout Finch ni cuma baru 6 tahun jer dan berfikiran macam orang dewasa kot.
Tu jer lah nak cakap. |
