Even though Dan Wooton and Richard Eden insist the RF has caved to H&M, I’m not so sure. Here’s my personal analysis of Her Majesty’s statement, with my acknowledgement that it could be completely wrong. Only time will tell.
Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family.
First off, she’s reassuring everyone that the talks weren’t an outright failure. That’s important because it shows the RF as capable, competent, willing to agree, and able to get things done quickly in a crisis. They are standing united, which is exactly what we need to see.
My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.
Notice: “Harry and Meghan.” No titles. Can we imagine for one second that Her Majesty would ignore protocol by not referring to them as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, if they were going to remain so? This was intentional, and it’s a great big flaming hint that titles will go at some point, especially if Harry and Meghan try to cash in on them, which is about as likely as January snow in Canada.
There’s more: HMTQ makes it clear that the BRF supports the duo and their desire to have a good life for their family – nobody can cry racism/sexism/pushed out. This plus the brothers’ statement this morning neutralises M’s tell-all threat to a great degree.
“We would have preferred…” = they’re no longer full-time working members of the BRF. Considering the damage the duo has caused in less than two years, this is a very good thing.
Here’s a crucial distinction: “… while remaining a valued part of my family.” That’s her personal family.
There’s a clear implication here: family members who aren’t full-time working members of the official BRF don’t get the perks, and money that go with that status, even if they have titles. The York Princesses, who are HRHs, don’t get funding and perks, the Wessexes don’t get them, and the Tindalls and Philips families don’t get them either, but all these people are valued members of HMTQ’s personal family. There’s already precedent in place.
Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.
They won’t get any public funds. “Harry and Meghan” again, just for emphasis.
It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.
We’ve already seen articles discussing the tax traps if they’re bi-located. Harry will have been presented with clear evidence about this. He will have no recourse when they get their tax bills and the Firm says, “You were warned.”
The statement does refer to them as the “Sussexes,” though, so maybe they get to keep the titles until the transition is over, or until they start making shady moves with their Foundation and merching the hell out of DDoS, whichever comes first. (Spoiler: it’s the second one).
These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.
HMTQ knew she had to release a statement soon after the summit; this masterclass in saying everything and nothing may have even been pre-drafted, with the meeting a brief one to agree on the most basic points: no status as official working royals, no public funding, titles taken away at some point, and a move to Canada that will spawn painful tax penalties – just what M demanded!
This is not over yet, not by a long shot. Get some popcorn and stay tuned.

dlm kes nih ai cuma kesian kat Archie. nasib dia lagilah terumbang ambing sekarang, entah apa status sebenar dgn kelahiran yg penuh misteri tuh. kalo betul anak2 BRF adalah milik QE2, dan Archie memang anak kandung Hanat, mungkin dia akan kembali ke pangkuan BRF - wpun dysfunctional, at least masih ada family member yg normal dan penyayang.
