AMISHA PATEL TURNS A PAUPER

Imagine a leading star of the tinsel world and also the grand daughter of a famous Mumbai's barrister claiming to possess not a single penny with her. This is said that Amisha Patel who shot to fame in Hindi cinema left her parental home recently and rent a bungalow for her at Lokhandwala and bought a car through bank loan. She didn't have a mobile phone even. She suffered all this due to the "mismanagement" of her funds by her father, who lost heavily in business.

He lost his money and also spent her daughter's hard earned money from films. When Amisha sought her tax papers from him and he could not provide all information pertaining to her accounts, Amisha was upset. She demanded her Rs 90 million from her mother, but she declined to return it to her. The mother pleaded that she didn't want Amisha to spend this huge money on her boyfriend Vikram Bhatt. This annoyed Amisha who decided to leave her parent's place. Amisha's father Amit Patel is reported to have wasted a lot of money belonging to himself and his daughter. However, her mother has been blaming the Bhatts for Amisha leaving them.

AAMIR KHAN IN REMARRIAGE MOOD

Aamir Khan is reported to b e busy in getting ready for remarriage. The rumor of his plan to marry Preity Zinta was categorically denied by Preity herself. She said that there is no such affair between her and Aamir. However, it's a fact that Aamir is living separate from his ex-wife and children. The latest report is that he is flirting with Kiran, an assistant of director Ashutosh Gowatrikar. This was confirmed by Bollywood circles that Aamir Khan and Kiran reached a party in Mumbai together and also confessed that both of them are getting married next year. Besides, there are reports that Aamir's most coveted and eagerly awaited 'The Rising' is faced with a new problem.

The movie is based on the story of a legendary freedom fighter of India known as Mangal Pandey. He launched the first Indian independence struggle in 1857. Now, the family of Mangal Pandey have protested against the movie director, Ketan Mehta. They say that the family was not taken into confidence while finalising the script. Apart from this, the memorial committee on Mangal Pandey has objected to the enactment of a kissing scene. Another objection is that the birthplace of Pandey has been totally ignored. This is to recall that all movies falling in this category, say, 'Gandhi', 'Chandrashekhar Azad' had been involved in such like controversies. Since Aamir concentrates on one or two films at a time, he is a loser. 'The Rising' has already been delayed for various reasons. The fate of Aamir's personal as well as the professional career has been hanging fire.

KAREENA PRAYS AT DARGAH, SEEKS BLESSINGS

The younger Kapoor girl is serious both about her love as well as her career. Kareena has already had a number of flops and doesn't want any more of her movies to fall in that category. Moreover, she is in love with her boyfriend Shahid Kapoor. So it's important for her professional career to have a hit movie at this juncture. Since she has acted along with Shahid in her recently released 'Fida', she decided to beg success for it.

Therefore, she went to Ajmer Shareef dargah to pray and seek blessings for the success of 'Fida' at the box office and thus get more time to enjoy in the company of Shahid. According to reports reaching us, Kareena had not made it public that she would visit Ajmer Shareef with Shahid to pay their respects to the dargah. Significantly, she went inside the dargah all alone and prayed there, even without Shahid. Maybe Shahid's mother Neelima Anjum had advised Kareena to visit Ajmer Shareef dargah to seek blessings for her success both in the reel as well as in the real life.

FARDEEN KHAN ALL SET TO GIVE BLOCKBUSTERS

The second half of 2005 seems crucial for Actor Fardeen Khan as the actor proved his mettle in the comedy films as well. Anees Bazmee's 'No Entry' was a rollicking fun, who has knocked down David Dhawan from his throne as the king of comedy. Fardeen has come out with his best performance which is showing in his improvised acting skills. Fardeen said that he has just forayed into comedy roles and have plans to get into action next year. Fardeen said he admires a couple of actors like Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor. After a row of flip flops and semi-hits, Fardeen can expect wonders from this comical flick 'No entry'.

The Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta pair of the 'Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost' fame will be seen on the screen again in Apurva Lakhia's forthcoming 'Ajnabi' though it had flopped earlier. Besides, Lakhia has managed to repeat Amitabh and Abhishek together in his 'Ajnabi. The senior and junior Bachchans had recently appeared together in 'Buny Aur Babli and 'Sarkar'. We wish success to Lakhia in his attempt.

Amisha is 'mother' again

Amisha Patel plays 'mother' for the second time. Yes, we are talking about her reel life. She confessed this to us recently. The movie is 'Tathastu', starring Sanjay Dutt and Amisha. She has played mother in Anil Sharma's 'Gadar-Ek Prem Katha' too. Besides, she has played a widow though briefly in Aamir Khan starrer 'The Rising'. How far mother Amisha succeeds in 'Tathastu' is yet to be seen. However, the fact remains that Amisha even in her brief role did impress the viewers more than Rani Mukherjee. Does it mean that she can pose a challenge the Bollywood's number One actress Rani? If she becomes a successful mother in 'Tathastu', she might turn out to be the queen of box office too.

Govinda-Salman pair again

David Dhawan and Govinda are good friends and their relationship grew further following their hit 'Shola Aur Sabnam'. This made their pair a hit, and they made several hits later. Govinda was then rated very high in Bollywood. However, Govinda's value in the industry has gone down these days because of his age and his preoccupation in politics since he became a Member of Parliament. As a result, his production 'Sukh' failed miserably at the box office. In spite of all this, David Dhawan is making a movie with Govinda, and to make it saleable he has roped in Salman Khan in it. Govinda and Salman will be seen on the screen after a long gap. Despite his growing age, Salman still commands value among the viewers. Hopefully, this coming together of three stars will bring some respite to the fading image of Govinda.

Salman-Aishwarya tape is a fake

Mumbai: The Forensic Science Laboratory at Chandigarh has given a clean chit to Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in the tape case exposed in early July this year.

The lab report says that the voice samples of the two stars do not match the voices in the alleged tape, which had Khan threatening Rai of dire consequences if she did not perform in a show organised by members of the underworld abroad.


On the alleged tape, Salman also claimed that he had prior knowledge of the 1992 Mumbai bomb blasts.

"We received the report two days ago, and it says that the voice samples of the stars do not match with the tape," said K L Bishnoi, additional police commissioner (economic offences wing).

After the tapes were made open, the state government had ordered an inquiry to find out if the voices were of the actors, if the alleged tape was leaked from the electronic surveillance data of the Mumbai police, and if Salman really had prior knowledge of the bomb blasts.

Bishnoi said that once the lab concluded that the voice samples did not match, the probe into the involvement of the two stars was almost complete. But the probe into other issues will continue.

Shah Rukh's regret

Shah Rukh Khan says that he has arranged music tuition for his son. He wants his son to learn music and teach him too. Shah Rukh strongly feels that an actor must acquire some knowledge of music. He regrets that he is blank in this regard. His son is taking lessons from none other than Ustad Amzad Ali Khan. Maybe the son gives a few music tips to his actor though it might be too late in the latter's life.

Raveena bags few offers

Raveena Tandon is looking for some film assignments and is stated to have bagged a few. She doesn't disclose them though. She was recently noticed taking rounds of the producers' offices in Mumbai in search of work. Hopefully, she isn't looking forward to becoming heroines now! Meanwhile, she has quit the coveted office of the chairperson of the Children's Film Society.

Rani Mukherjee will appear as a guest actor in bhai's movie. No, this is not the bhai of the underworld. In fact, he is her real brother Raja Mukherjee. Raja along with his wife Jyoti had produced a television serial too. Now, Raja has decided to turn a film director. The Mukherjee family is well knit, and loves each other. Raja's debut will be a Bangla movie.

IS GOVINDA QUITTING POLITICS?

This is almost certain that Bollywood actor Govinda will soon quit politics. He has sought permission from the Congress High Command to allow him to resign from the membership of the Lok Sabha (Parliament) in view of his inability to do full justice to his constituency in Mumbai. This is to recall that Govinda had defeated a giant BJP functionary and former petroleum minister Ram Naik during the last Lok Sabha polls. Govinda has been facing a lot of criticism from his constituents following his inability to cope with the relief work in the wake of the recent unprecedented rains in Mumbai having played havoc in the city.

His public criticism has immensely hurt Govinda who has made up his mind to withdraw from active politics. This is not the first time for a cinema personality to quit politics. Earlier, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had persuaded his family friend and Bollywood's actor Amitabh Bachchan to enter politics. Amitabh was elected to the Lok Sabha by defeating another giant H.N. Bahuguna, former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and union minister. However, Amitabh had also withdrawn himself from politics after some years. In fact, cine personalities haven't proved successful in politics.

This game hasn't suited them though of late many others like Shatrughan Sinha, Vinod Khanna, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jayaprada and Jaya Bachchan have entered into this field. Their experiences are quite bitter. Besides, the public is also disillusioned with them, and might not vote them to power in future. But this may not be relevant for those who are nominated to the Rajya Sabha as they are not accountable to any particular constituents. So, the galaxy of actresses nominated to the Rajya Sabha by their respective political parties can relax. They include Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan. Similarly, Dilip Kumar and singer -queen Lata Mangeshkar who have been nominated by the government need not worry. They are there to represent art and culture.

RAVEENA: 'EK SE BADHKAR EK' EXCITING

Acting for more than almost a decade and a half, producing her own film and recently married Raveena Tandon is happy! For Raveena Tandon Thadani, the lyrics of the song are now written and completed; all the notes in place. The screenplay was neither linear nor conventional. A cosseted childhood, a roller-coaster ride into stardom with all its accompanying rough and ready patches, and even a brush with production, when the spunky actress launched her banner Reel Life Productions. Besides, there was a foray into television with the mega serial Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam, which romped home with more than satisfactory innings.

And then as she proudly admits, the biggest step she took in her life -- marriage to the dashing young distributor, Anil Thadani. And has this independent, rebellious girl, who was a glutton for self-discipline, learnt to take it easy now? Raveena laughs, "Oh yes, in fact there's an amazing Alaskan cruise in the offing, with Anil's friends and family. Besides, I've learnt to eat that extra roti without feeling guilty. I think less about balancing films, photo shoot and more about the sandwiches I make for my husband! Anil loves food and we often go out to eat." One priority that she has is being the chairperson of the Children's Film Society. Raveena strives for the cause of making infotainment films for children. "There is endless potential, but there are hurdles. For instance, we are not allowed to charge more than Rs 5 for a ticket, which makes the theatre release impossible. But we have convinced authorities to let us charge a little more. I also feel that films made for children should have a good balance of entertainment and education."

But where is the actor amidst all this? "Oh, I have two films due for release very soon. One is 'Doobara' and the other is 'Ek Se Badhkar Ek'. 'Doobara' is a serious film, whereas 'Ek Se Badhkar Ek' is complete comedy. It's a Kundan Shah film and I feel that it's going to be a laughing riot." Raveena has done many comedy films with Govinda and other actors but this one, she feels, is going to take the cake. "In our industry, we tend to make the comedy slapstick but in 'Ek Se Badhkar Ek', it's intelligent humor. I think, by far this will be my best comedy film." 'Doobara' and 'Ek Se Badhkar Ek' will be releasing almost simultaneously, but Raveena doesn't fear that. "

I have this kind of a trend, when in one theatre there was 'Aks', in the other there was 'Shool'. When 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' was released 'Daman' was also out. The audience is used to see me like this. And now with an intense or serious me in 'Doobara' and a complete comic character in 'Ek Se Badhkar Ek', I am sure they'll enjoy both the roles." Right now she is enjoying her long overdue break and thoroughly enjoying her marital status. "Everything they say about marriage being a wonderful place to be in --- it's all true. In fact, there's so much positive energy around me that I feel confident about acknowledging my happiness, something I was wary of doing earlier."

Antara provokes Abhishek

Ram Gopal Verma's discovery who shot to fame in 'Company' Antara Mali has started showing moods. Recently, during the shooting of 'Naach' in Mumbai, Abhishek Bachchan starring in the movie did not follow a right step while a song was being picturised on him. The shots were being repeated. This provoked Antara Mali to speak strangely to Abhishek. As a result, Abhishek left the shooting and sat into his van. As soon as the producer Ram Gopal Verma came to know about it he went straight to Abhishek Bachchan sitting in the van and urged him to resume shooting. Doctors oppose Kamal's movie

No sooner Kamal Hassan decided to re-enact Sanjay Dutt's role from 'Munnabhai MBBS' than the real life doctors in the South claimed that the remake's title 'Vasool Raja MBBS' was derogatory to their profession. They have even got an injunction from the Madras High Court restraining the Censor Board in Mumbai and Chennai from certifying the film. Meanwhile, Kamal has been awarded a doctorate by a southern university for all the good work he's done! Let's keep our fingers crossed if the doctors would allow Kamal Hassan to go ahead with the movie as Kamal has been awarded a doctorate by a university.

Yes, Salman Khan seems to be very kind to Shilpa Shetty. Shilpa's performance in 'Garv' opposite Salman Khan has got a wide appreciation from the audience. She is moving towards stardom from this film following her appearance in glamorous look. She would be seen again with Salman Khan in the romantic role of a call girl in Dipak Tajori's 'Khamosh'. ESHA DEOL CREATES 'DHOOM'

After the success of 'Hum Tum', the Yash Raj banner is coming with its next 'Dhoom' starring Esha Deol, Uday Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Rimmi Sen. The director is Sanjay Gandhavi who also directed Yash Raj banner's 'Meere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai'. Esha Deol and Rimmi Sen are two female stars in the movie. Esha Deol says that 'Dhoom' is a three in one movie---- as it has action, comedy and a non-stop fun. So every section of the audience will feel associated with this film. According to her, Abhishek Bachchan is an honest police officer named Jai Dixit.

John Abraham plays the leader of a gang and is named Kabir. Uday Chopra plays the role of a garage mechanic known as Ali. Jai Dixit takes the help of Ali in arresting Kabir. Esha Deol plays an important role . She is a stylist, beautiful and also mysterious while playing the role of Sheena. Rimmi Sen acts as Sweety, wife of Jay Dixit. Sweety is indeed very sweet. Jay met Sweety when he goes to arrest Kabir. This shows that the movie has all the ingredients to be of interest to all sections of the audience. Though the movie belongs to the Yash Raj banner yet it doesn't carry the Yash Chopra style, presumably because Yash Chopra has not interfered at all in Sanjay Gandhavi's professional work.
