Liverpoolyoungster Joao Carlos Teixeira will be afforded a chance to prove hisfirst team credentials by Brendan Rodgers when he returns to the club thissummer following a loan spell at Brighton and Hove Albion.
The22-year-old has been in fine form for the Championship side on a seasonlong loan and has become a regular for Chris Hughton’s side.
So farthis season the Portuguese has scored an impressive six goals in 28appearances but recently admitted he will have his work cut out for him when hereturns to Merseyside this summer if he wants a shot at the first team.
Luckily, the Liverpool Echo sayRodgers will certainly give him an to impress when the Reds go on apre-season tour in Australia in July. And ifhe’s proven to be good enough he could become an established face in the2015/16 squad.
Given thelikely exits in our attacking personnel this summer it wouldn’t be too terribleif a suitable replacement came from out youth ranks.
However,Teixeira is certainly grounded admitting that if he struggles to make the gradeat Anfield he would consider making his move to the Seagulls a permanent one.
“It’sreally difficult because Liverpool are a big club with great players, but youdream of playing Premier League football with Liverpool, said Teixeira.
“I reallywant that and I’m going to work for it but you never know what’s going tohappen in the future.
“Ofcourse I would see Brighton as an option, I like everything here. I like thecity and it’s really nice living here.”
If hedoes manage to break through into the Liverpool first team, we certainlywouldn’t get tired of seeing shots like this fly in at Anfield:
