Man United vs Norwich Player Ratings
Manchester United retained their position at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Norwich as Anderson and Danny Welbeck got on the scoresheet.
Manchester United
Anders Lindegaard - 7
His calm and collected performance will give Sir Alex Ferguson a selection headache. Dealt with the troublesome long balls from Norwich and did well in a few one-on-ones too.
Jonny Evans - 4.5
Slipped a few times and his lack of concentration gave Morison and Pilkington plenty of chances to put Norwich ahead.
Phil Jones - 8
Excellent performance to cover for his defensive partner. Jones had a few moments where his last-ditch tackles saved United from more trouble. Also provided some cutting edge when he went on his trademark barnstorming runs.
Patrice Evra - 6
Not afraid to take the ball into the Norwich half but failed to penetrate the Norwich defence. Left Morison too much space to exploit.
Antonio Valencia - 5
Looked out of place at right back defensively. Was beaten by Pilkington easily and his poor man-marking was exposed by Hoolahan's passes.
Anderson (Off 75') - 6.5
Kept on trying to break the Norwich defence but his heavy touch meant that he was easily dealt with. Displayed quick reactions to flick in the opening goal with a header.
Darren Fletcher - 6
Played in a deeper role and controlled the pace of the game from there. Put in his shift in the attack and was unlucky to have a goal-bound shot saved by Tierney.
Park Ji-Sung - 6
Couldn't find the breakthrough out wide as he was double-marked for most of the match. His one-two to set up Welbeck showed what he is capable of.
Nani (Off 61') - 5
Frustrated by the wall of Norwich defenders that rushed at him whenever he had the ball. Didn't have his usual spark of creativity and was subsequently brought off.
Wayne Rooney - 6
Probably played too much FIFA 12 and thought too much of himself. Could have taken the keeper on easily a couple of times but chose to chip the ball instead. Not the best performance from him finshing wise but pulled the strings from deep as usual.
Javier Hernandez (Off 61') - 5.5
Spent most of the time in an offside position trying to catch the defence off guard but was caught offside instead. Looked a shadow of his usual speedy zippy self.
Substitutes
Ryan Giggs (On 61') - 7
United looked more potent after Giggs came on. He provided United an extra thrust with his excellent passing and set up Anderson's goal with a cross that was headed on by Rooney.
Welbeck (On 61') - 7
Showed his credentials with a well set-up goal. His speed and power gave Norwich defenders some thoughts and created space for Rooney in turn.
Ferdinand (On 77') - 6
Came on and steadied the defence with his experience.
Norwich
John Ruddy - 6
Had a quiet afternoon and did well to control the eight ‘defenders' at his disposal. Not at fault for both goals conceded.
Leon Barnett - 7
Repelled the United offence for most of the match. Stuck to the opposition strikers and closed down space efficiently.
Russell Martin - 6.5
Same as Barnett, but his concentration slipped and allowed Welbeck to score in the closing minutes.
Marc Tierney - 7
Tasked to keep Nani quiet and did just that, which is no easy task. Put his body in the way of many crosses too.
Kyle Naughton - 6
Dealt with the overlapping Evra and Park with his hardworking closing down throughout. Should be proud of his performance considering his young age.
Bradley Johnson - 7
Protected his back four well, lunging into the United attack with relish. His battling style was a great source of nuisance to Rooney and co.
David Fox (Off 75') -6
Played as a defender for most of the match, he was quiet, hardly getting a chance to play his usual passing game.
Wesley Hoolahan (Off 85') - 6.5
He provided the link to the attack with his decisive passing and was constantly bothering Fletcher and Anderson.
Anthony Pilkington - 3
If he had converted his easy chances early on, Norwich could have led 2-0 before United broke the deadlock.
Elliott Bennett (Off 75') - 5
Was isolated up front and his impact to the game was negligible.
Steve Morison - 6
Exploited Evra's overlapping runs well, but could have been more decisive in playing his teammates in earlier.
Substitutes
Andrew Crofts (On 75') - N/A
Simeon Jackson (On 75') - N/A
Chris Martin (On 84') - N/A |

Boss explains absentees
Sir Alex has explained why David De Gea and Ashley Young did not feature in the 2-0 win against Norwich.
The Reds' No1 was left out in favour of Anders Lindegaard, who made his Barclays Premier League debut, while winger Young did not make the bench but should be fit to represent England in the crunch Euro 2012 qualifier in Montenegro next Friday.
"It was an opportunity to play Anders because he doesn't have a game for two weeks," the boss revealed to MUTV. "He goes away with Denmark but he’s not in the team whereas David's got two games with Spain's Under-21s. So it was a good opportunity to give Anders a turn.
"Ashley got a little knock and it wasn't worth risking him because of the games we've got coming up, including Liverpool in two weeks' time. There are internationals of course but I think he'll be okay for England, he should be alright. He just wasn't right today." |

Nani scoops September prize
Nani's outstanding form has been rewarded with the ManUtd.com Player of the Month accolade for September.
Voting took place on our seven official websites - ManUtd.com and its Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish versions - and the winger topped the poll ahead of the four other nominees.
Around 15,000 votes were logged and Nani earned 36 per cent of these to see off competition from August's winner Wayne Rooney (26 per cent) and new keeper David De Gea (19 per cent).
Nani sparkled against Stoke, scoring a superb solo goal, and hit a wonder strike in the win against Chelsea at Old Trafford. An important cameo as a substitute in the draw with Basel also helped ensure United avoided a shock defeat to the Swiss champions.
After his 100th appearance for the Reds in the game with Chelsea, Sir Alex said of the talented wide man: "Nani is marvellous. He's a terrific player and he's starting to mature. We're going to get the best years out of him, no doubt."
congrats nani.....![](static/image/smiley/default/loveliness.gif) |

Fergie akur cabaran City
“Kami hanya perlu membuat persediaan rapi sebelum bertemu City.” Sebelum ini, Ferguson secara sinis menyatakan Liverpool adalah musuh tradisi sebenar United.
Bagaimanapun pelaburan Sheikh Mansour sebanyak |
