Yukio Ninagawa (74) will direct two well-known Yukio Mishima plays next February. Both of them will star Shonentai member Noriyuki Higashiyama (44) and Toma Ikuta (25).
The two plays are "Madame de Sade" and "My Friend Hitler." In a unique experiment, both will be performed on the same stage, using the same cast and set, despite the differences in story. "Madame de Sade" is set in 18th century Paris and tells the story of the Marquis de Sade through the perspectives of six women. "My Friend Hitler," on the other hand, is naturally set in Berlin during World War II.
"Madame de Sade" consists of only six female characters, while "My Friend Hitler" has only four male characters. In "Madame de Sade," Higashiyama has been cast as the Marquis de Sade's wife Renee, with Ikuta playing Renee's sister Anne. In "My Friend Hitler," Higashiyama plays the protagonist Ernst Rohm, opposite Ikuta as a young Hitler. The supporting cast (for both plays) includes Mikijiro Hira (76).
"Madame de Sade" and "My Friend Hitler" will be performed between February 2 and March 2 of next year at the Bunkamura Theatre Cocoon in Shibuya.
Details about whether Toma Ikuta (25) and Yui Ichikawa (24) have been dating for the past five years remain hidden for the time being, reports Sports Hochi and Sankei News today.
Sports Hochi has reported that yesterday it was revealed Ikuta and actress Ichikawa had been dating for the past five years. Although the two had never worked with one another, according to one source, the pair had met each other through a mutual friend. Having begun working in the entertainment industry since they were teenagers, the two had become friends after realising they had similar goals, which in the end led to love.
The paper continues to report that the two had kept their relationship hidden in order to avoid any detrimental effects on their careers. Only their close friends had known they were dating, and the pair had avoided being seen on dates.
Another source has said the pair had broken up at one point, but got back together shortly afterwards.
However, both Sports Hochi and Sankei News have reported that Ikuta and Ichikawa’s agencies have denied their talents are dating.
A representative from Johnny’s & Associates had told Sports Hochi they had not heard any reports about the pair’s relationship.
Similarly, a representative from Ichikawa’s talent agency had told Sankei News, “we have not heard of any such thing from her (Ichikawa)”.

Today it has been announced that the actresses Maki Yoko (27), Tanaka Rena (30), Tabe Mikako (21), Ashina Sei (26), Renbutsu Misako (19) and Muroi Shigeru (51) have been added to the cast of "Genji Monogatari" starring actor Ikuta Toma (26).
"Genji Monogatari," directed by Tsuruhashi Yasuo, retells one of the most popular Japanese stories of all times, also known as "The Tale of Genji." It will weave together the fictional world of Genji and the world of noblewoman Murasaki Shikibu who wrote the masterpiece.
Maki will play a double role, Hikaru Genji's (Ikuta) dead mother Lady Kiritsubo and his step mother Lady Fujitsubo that greatly resembles the former. Muroi will play the wife of an emperor that becomes an enemy of Kiritsubo. Tanaka and Ashina will disguise themselves as lovers of Genji, however, Tanaka's character of Lady Rokujo is already dead and only exists in the form of a very jealous and vengeful spirit that tries to kill all his other women. Tabe gets to play his actual wife Lady Aoi while Renbutsu will play a discussion partner of Murasaki.
Earlier it had already been announced that Nakatani Miki (34) would play the role of Murasaki while Higashiyama Noriyuki (44) will take on the role of the political figure Fujiwara no Michinaga. Kubozuka Yosuke (31) has also been cast as the onmyoji Abe no Seimei.
"Genji Monogatari" is a very intriguing tale and with so many great actresses it's definitely going to be fun to watch. Starring actor Ikuta seems to enjoy being surrounded by so many women as well. "I think we will be able to make a Genji Monogatari very true to the original with such a group of gorgeous actresses. It's a rare experience to be able to work together with so many actresses for a single movie. I'm going to be very nervous from now on, but it also will be a lot of fun," he said.
The filming already began 3 weeks ago and as previously announced, the film will be released some time in 2011.
