KAT-TUN Tanaka Watches Yama-P Solo Concert and Reminisces about Old Times
KAT-TUN member Tanaka Koki went to see the solo concert held by NEWS member Yamashita Tomohisa (a.k.a. Yama-P). He also looked back at some memorable incidents.
Tanaka "A while ago I went to see Yama-P's concert! He looked brilliant. We used to go to the same high school, where we enjoyed doing stupid things and getting scolded by the teachers. I slept over at Yama-P's house and then inviting Yama-P to my home. Although we were performing as Johnny's members I naturally felt that we were closer as classmates.
After we costarred in the drama series 'Byakkotai', I started to consider him as a 'colleague' as well. When we were filming 'Byakkotai', above anything else I didn't want to 'lose' to him.
Now we've grown up, and I saw the person I had done stupid things together and had worked together unflinchingly perform at a big concert. It felt kind of funny, but it made me think that I have to do my best to perform just as hard as Yama-P.
Since I've been talking about 'Akira,' I should talk about 'Shuji' as well! ['Shuji to Akira' was an artist duo formed by Yamashita and KAT-TUN member Kamenashi; Yamashita was called 'Akira', while Kamenashi became 'Shuji'.] Two days after my birthday, Kame-chan [Kamenashi] and I went out to eat dinner together to celebrate! I requested that we eat 'shabu-shabu'♪ ['Shabu-shabu; a type of Japanese dish similar to the Chinese dish 'hot pot'.]
We talked about a lot of things...about our future, our careers and trivial things too. Don't worry Kame-chan, I'm 24 years old. I'm an adult now. I'll work hard and move forward one step at a time so I can go head to head with everybody!
I don't know what we'd be doing several years from now...let's just do our best. Let's do our utmost, and overcome any obstacles that get in our way...and a few years from now we should again go and eat shabu-shabu and have fun!
'Akira' and 'Shuji' have given me strength. They made me feel I should continue to work hard! From this month I'm planning to take dance lessons. I like dancing so I'm looking forward to it!!"
Since they're so close together, they are able to become good influences for each other. As they continue to compete with each other, their relationships will last for years to come!
NEWS member Yamashita Tomohisa (Yama-P) is currently performing a series of solo concerts titled 'First Solo SHORT BUT SWEET ～First Solo SHORT BUT SWEET～Mijikai-keredo Ii Jikan o～'. He is readying for his performances in Osaka which will be held at the beginning of next year. Recently he hasn't been updating his diary as often as before...
Yama-P "I'm not getting lazy or anything, but I don't have anything to write about (laugh). No, really. I haven't the foggiest what I should write (laugh). But I'm sure everyone has had the same experience!!"
Having nothing to write about is a common problem among longtime bloggers. What sort of things would you like Yama-P to talk about? It might be interesting to see more about everyday events and incidents that happened with other members.
Also, a while ago Yama-P had commented about a certain TV program. "I was just watching 'VS Arashi' [variety show hosted by Arashi], and it looked really fun to throw balls hard like that!" Is Yama-P feeling the urge to exercise? In a more recent broadcast the Arashi members competed among themselves to decide whose personal outdoor winter clothing looked the most stylish! Many fans will want to see what sort of outfits Yama-P wears in private too!

NEWS Yamashita Talks about Importance of Air Ambulance
In the drama series 'Code Blue', NEWS member Yamashita Tomohisa played the part of a doctor who rides on air ambulance helicopters (commonly called 'doctor helicopters' in Japan). The 2nd season will eventually begin. The experience of playing the role has left a lasting impact on Yamashita...
Yamashita "As part of a documentary, today we went to Aichi Prefecture. In the town we visited, it takes an ambulance 40 minutes to go to the nearest hospital. If a person has to be treated for a serious illness, he or she has to go to a larger hospital with more sophisticated medical equipment. It takes the same ambulance 2 hours to reach it.
It once again made me feel that we need more doctor helicopters. Through 'Code Blue 2nd Season' we have to tell people the importance of doctor helicopters. I wish that it will help create more helicopters!"
Although having more helicopters could be necessary, it isn't something that can easily be done. There are hopes that Yamashita and the drama can have a positive influence on the air ambulance debate. 'Code Blue 2nd Season' is set to start in January 2010!
