Aku pun baca cerita harry potter and orders of the phoenix .....baru dua minggu lalu aku buku harry potter 1-5...dan baru semalam aku download harry potter and half blood prince.. |

describes "A Fine Balance" that i read recently.
of all the 4 books that i bought during my vacation masa raya tuh,
rupa rupanya buku yg last tu yang paling HEBAT pernah aku baca.
when you read (even from the first page),
Rohinton Mistry successfully brought me into the book,
in the story.
there were laughter, compassion, empathy, sadness, grief...
and most of all, HOPE and DESPAIR.
this book is about a boy named Maneck Kohlah who met
two guys, Ishvar and Omprakash kat dalam keretapi.
Ishvar is Om's uncle. they come all the way from their village
to work with Dina Shroff and to leave behind the cruel caste system.
both of them are expert tailors.
watak lain lain ialah Nusswan, Dina's bro. then her sis in law
named Ruby. both of them ada 2 org anak.
then, you'll meet Dukhi Muchi, Ishvar's father.
Ishvar has one brother named Narayan.
and lastly, Maneck plak is son of Farokh Kohlah and Aban Sodawalla.
this book will take us to Dina's, the tailor's and
Maneck's flashback.
penggunaan bahasa yg sangat, sangat indah telah digunakan
dalam buku ni. i find myself shaking my head as if mengajuk (Indian
people) watak watak dalam buku ni berkata berkata: the story took
place at India somewhere in 1970's.
It is amazingly well written and will make anyone thank God
for the luxuries (infact, anything that we have in our life sebenarnya) we enjoy in this lifetime. |

about- "A Fine Balance" yang paling simple, straight-to-the-point yg
aku jumpa.
The book exposes the changes in Indian society from independence
in 1947 to the Emergency called by Indian prime minister Indira
Gandhi. Mistry is generally critical of Gandhi in the book.
The characters, from diverse backgrounds, are all brought together
by economic forces changing India.
Ishvar and Om's family was part of the Chamaar caste, who
traditionally cured leather and were considered untouchable. In an
attempt to break away from the restrictive caste system, Ishvar's
father apprenticed his sons to a tailor, and they became tailors. As a
result of their skills, passed on to Ishvar's brother's son, they move to Mumbai to get work, by then unavailable in the town near their village because a pre-made clothing shop has opened.
Maneck, from a small hill village in northern India, moves to the city to acquire a college diploma "as a back up" in case his father's business is no longer able to compete after the building of a highway near their
village.
Dina, from a traditionally wealthy family, maintains tenuous
independence from her brother by living in the flat of her deceased
husband. |

the storyline is good and you can easily relate to real life situation, but the downside is....the story is a bit slow and too much elaboration |
