Greening: Arsenal's Jay Simpson Will Be A Star At West Brom
The Baggies skipper is expecting big things from the young man on loan from the Gunners.
"Sorang lagi produk Gunners..adakah dia ni akan jadi first team striker? Tunggggguuuu.. "
Jonathan Greening has said today that he expects the impact of on-loan striker Jay Simpson on West Bromwich Albion to be similar to that of Kieran Richardson's at the club in the 2004/05 season.
That season, of course, Richardson, who was on loan from Manchester United at the time, played so well that he contributed to Albion's eventual last-gasp Premier League survival and earned himself a call-up to the full England squad.
Now Greening is backing the Arsenal youngster to exert similar influence on the ultimate outcome of this season's relegation battle.
"Jay has settled in really well. He's a nice guy, level-headed. I thought he played well against Peterborough and scored a good goal and also looked sharp against Middlesbrough," Greening told Sky Sports News today.
"Sometimes you need a bit of enthusiasm, someone with young legs. It's a bit like Kieran Richardson when he came to us on loan. He was a bit raw.
"Jay is like that as well - but he can do something to change a game as we've already seen.
"Kieran made a hell of a difference and was a key part of why we stayed up in the 'Great Escape' season. He was quite chirpy but Jay is a quiet lad who just does his business out on the pitch."
Albion return to action in the FA Cup fourth round this season, facing the mighty Burnley, who ran Tottenham Hotpsur so close this week, at the Hawthorns. |
