New Moon ticket sales drop ends with third highest box office weekend
New Moon had a remarkable start to its opening weekend. In fact, it broke the record for the highest grossing midnight showing ($26.3 million) followed by the highest opening day ($67.2 million) in Hollywood history.
Obviously, all the Twilight fans had rushed to see the second installment of their beloved Twilight Saga. Apparently after all the Twi-hards (and Robert Pattinson fans) had seen the film, the numbers dropped considerably and New Moon slipped into third for the all important biggest weekend opener.
This happened because while both Spider-Man 3' and The Dark Knight' had lower numbers for their Friday and Saturday audiences, they easily pulled ahead by maintaining their numbers on Sunday.
While New Moon should have a (using Summits own projections) $24.8 million Sunday which will allow Spider-man3’s ($39.9 million Sunday) to stayed in 2nd and The Dark Knight ($43.6 million) to retain its first place standing. Twilight saga: New Moon’s 3-day showing did knock Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest down to fourth.
Since the critics have slammed New Moon, do the lower 3rd day numbers show that unlike Twilight fans, other movie-goers are listening to what the critic have to say?

You're also as dumb as a block to compare Harry Potter and Twilight. That's just like saying Lord of the Rings and Sleepless in Seattle are in the same category!!!
People like different things than you, so deal with it. Then maybe you'll understand why this movie is loved by pretty much the majority of population in our world.

I'm not even interested. I heard of people who just HAD to see it the first day, or first showing. I'm sure everyone who really wanted to see it has seen it this weekend, and I bet it drops a lot more next weekend.
Although I liked the Harry Potter series, I never felt the need to go on day 1, and in fact saw most of the movies on DVD. So I never understand the fascination with any series like this. Thanks for sharing!!

aku dah tgk semalam.... mmg best... rasa mcm tak cukup pulak.... macam cepat je tiap2 scene tu... sbb dlm buku panjang....
pastu yg tayangan tgh malam (12.55am) tu masa mula2 ada satu hall je pastu dlm pukul 9 lebih dorang bukak lagi satu hall dan tiket selling fast lak tu....
yg paling kelakar lepas aku habis je tgk terus gi kaunter nak beli tiket... nak tgk lagi yg pukul 12.55 pagi tu.. tapi tiket dah habis & org tu kata 1st time siar sebelum betul2 screening dah sold out... hahha dasat jugak rupanya kat malaysia ni.... |

Consensus: The Twilight Saga's second installmentmay satisfy hardcore fans of the series, but outsiders are likely to beturned off by its slow pace, relentlessly downcast tone, and excessivelength.
