Liverpool alerted by coveted Croatian starlet's transfer admission Dejan Lovren could be sold by Lyon, alerting Liverpool
Lyon are ready to part with defender Dejan Lovren for the right price, according to the player's representative.
The 22-year-old has been tracked by a number of European giants, including Inter Milan and AC Milan.
However, following Liverpool's interest in the summer, the player's agent Nikky Vuksan says an offer would be evaluated if one came the player's way.
"I know that many European clubs, including a few Italian and Spanish teams, have made enquiries about the player but so far none of them has made concrete steps or submitted bids," Vuksan said.
"Lyon are going through a difficult time from a financial point, but we're also talking about renewal.
"I think that if we were to get a good offer, then the club would evaluate it.
When asked if the interest from the Milan duo was genuine, Vuksan added: "It would be an honour for us, but at the moment we are only talking about hypothesis."
Liverpool's summer search for a defender resulted in them signing Sebastian Coates.
However, Liverpool's problems at the back, with Daniel Agger's injury problems a constant concern and Jamie Carragher's career coming to an end, the club may again look to youth in the transfer window.
The signing of Coates, as well as that of Jordan Henderson has signalled a new direction for the club, and if their interest in Lovren shows Liverpool are ready to continue that policy.
Henderson: Carroll was ‘brilliant’ Jordan Henderson sees good things for Andy Carroll at Liverpool
Jordan Henderson believes that Andy Carroll’s performance against Stoke in the Carling Cup last night showed how much the striker has to offer the Reds, and believes the best is yet to come.
Carroll was unable to find the net, with Luis Suarez leading the goal show by scoring a brace to win the match 2-1, but Henderson insists that given time, the 21-year-old will realise his full potential.
“I thought Andy was brilliant tonight, I thought he worked really hard," Henderson said.
"He was closing defenders down, winning headers and he had a few chances himself and I thought he contributed a lot tonight.”
Henderson also reserved praise for man-of-the-match Suarez, who scored a brilliant goal to level Liverpool with Stoke in the 54th minute, and netted the winner in the 85th to halt the need for extra time.
“His goals were brilliant. The first one was a piece of individual class but that’s what he is, he does it every week,” he said.
“It was a good win in the end. I thought we started well and carried it through the game and we deserved the win.
"We showed a lot of character [to come back] and were disappointed that we went 1-0 down anyway as we played so well and created chances to go ahead.”
Liverpool now progress through to the quarter finals of the Cup tournament, and will be hoping to receive their first piece of silverware since 2006.
But the quarter finals will be tough for the Anfield club, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City also still in the competition. The draw takes place on Saturday to find out which teams will face off.
Dalglish leads Suarez eulogy Liverpool striker Luis Suarez wins Kenny Dalglish praise
Kenny Dalglish struggled to find the superlatives to describe Luis Suarez following the Liverpool striker's latest match winning performance.
Suarez netted twice against Stoke City on Wednesday night as the Reds triumphed 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium to book a place in the Carling Cup quarter-final.
The 24-year-old's first strike levelled the scoring and stunned Stoke fans and players alike as he whipped the ball into the top corner following some dazzling trickery.
Liverpool's winner then came with five minutes remaining, as Suarez beautifully steered Jordan Henderson's tempting cross past Thomas Sorensen.
Suarez now has 12 goals in 25 games for the Reds, and Dalglish is simply in awe of the Uruguay international.
"I ran out of words to describe him after a week when he came to our club," said the Liverpool boss.
"His first was a fantastic goal, but I don't think you'd expect him to score with a tap-in would you?
"He could have taken one before that and maybe it would have been more comfortable for us, but it was worth waiting for."
Dalglish added: "Both of his goals pleased us, but the most important thing was the way the boys went about their work.
"It was a fantastic first time ball in from Jordan [Henderson]. The quality of the pass in and the header was top class.

Man Utd and Liverpool Tempt "Huge Talent" With Premier League Promise
Manchester United and Liverpool are battling to persuade 15-year-old Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Jordan Ibe that he belongs in the Premier League, although the player is reportedly concerned he will not achieve the same first team experience if he moves to England's top flight.
The youngster has been heavily linked with a Premier League move since 'bursting onto the senior scene at Adams Park', according to givemefootball.com, after he broke club records as their youngest goalscorer this season.
According to goal.com, the youngster has also been given a guided tour of Liverpool's training facilities by Kenny Dalglish, as the wily Scot tries to secure his services from under the nose of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Liverpool's current youth setup involves England youth internationals Raheem Sterling and Adam Morgan, and Dalglish is now doing his utmost to introduce another of this country's hottest prospects to his Anfield revolution.
The player is unconvinced about where his future lies, however, and Wycombe team mate Ben Strevens has tipped him for success at Adams Park.
"Liverpool really liked the look of him but he is still at school and is happy at Wycombe because he can get in the team, which won't happen at Liverpool or Manchester United," a source close to the player revealed to goal.com.
Strevens told the official Wycombe Wanderers website; "He's a very good young player who's got a bright future.
"He's a huge talent and hopefully we can hang on to him for a little while longer."
