United's Path of Destiny
Kelvin Leong plays witchdoctor and predicts the outcome of Manchester United's final ten games. Win, Lose or draw!
Sir Alex Ferguson's men are gunning for an unprecedented quintuple. With the Carling Cup and Club World Cup already in the bag, three competitions remain for the Red Devils.
The FA Cup, Champions League and Premier League.
Many pundits are predicting that Fergie's Red Army will crumble under the immense pressure to deliver five glistening trophies to their fans but the United boys are probably the one team who know how to deliver under pressure.
Here are my predictions for the ten matches (with one game in hand against Portsmouth) that will see Fergie fulfill his dream of equaling Liverpool's 18 league titles.
Fulham vs Manchester United
Make no mistake, the electrical mart in Manchester must have made a huge profit from the amount of hairdryers sold in the past seven days.
Fergie must have thrown a lifetime worth of hairdryers at Nemanja Vidic and his teammates for their ridiculous showing against Liverpool.
Expect the defending champions to respond in style against Fulham with strikers Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Carlos Tevez and CR7 ready to crush Craven Cottage and silence the sudden raptures of positive noise coming from Anfield.
Verdict - United Win
Manchester United vs Aston Villa
By the time this tie is played out, Martin O'Neill could be facing the prospects of playing in the prestigious Europa Cup instead of the glorious Champions League.
A potential banana skin for Giggs and friends but with the hectic schedule starting to pile up for United, Ferguson will want three points to sew up the domestic title as soon as possible.
Verdict - United Win
Sunderland vs Manchester United
Liverpool club doctors will be calling up Djibril Cisse to remind him of how they nursed him back to health after his broken leg while he was with the club.
Cisse will be in tears reliving the horrid leg-breaking incident and will be desperate to repay Liverpool for saving his career.
The charismatic striker will subsequently stun United and give the Black Cats a shocking draw at the Stadium of Light.
Verdict - Draw
Manchester United vs Portsmouth
Portsmouth are short of confidence and playing in front of 60,000 fans at Old Trafford could prove to be way too intimidating for Peter Crouch and his mates.
Expect Tevez and Rooney to let rip at the Pompey defence.
Verdict - United win
Manchester United vs Tottenham
If Harry Redknapp's men are safe from relegation by then, the sleeping giant from North London will produce the attacking brand of football that could trouble Fergie's men.
Berbatov will want a good showing against his former club but can he get past Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate?
Verdict - Draw
Middlesbrough vs Manchester United
Gareth Southgate's men always produces unexpected results against the big clubs but with relegation deeply etched into their pressured minds, the home team might just crack.
Typical game for Park Ji-Sung to excel in with old heads Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs in support.
Verdict - United win
Manchester United vs Manchester City
The Manchester derby marks the start of a seven day spell of three league games for the Red Devils.
City did the double over their cross-town rivals last season but this season has seen an inconsistent City go from heroes to zeroes week in week out.
Tight game of football that will be decide by a sheer moment of magic from twinkle-toe Ronaldo.
Verdict - United win
Wigan Athletic vs Manchester United
Former United captain Steve Bruce will be caught in two minds when the Latics welcome the Red army.
Will Bruce be the man to stop the United quintuple?
Unlikely scenario since Wigan will probably be lying in mid-table with nothing to play for.
One interesting fact to point out - United lifted the Premier League trophy last season at the JJB Stadium.
Will destiny repeat itself?
Verdict - United win
Manchester United vs Arsenal
Second game before the 2008/09 season comes to an end.
How Arsene Wenger will loath the idea of having to form a guard-of-honour to salute the home team onto the field if they have already sewn up the title before this.
If the title race is still on come this fixture, it will be safe to say the Gunners will go all out to secure three points and send the reigning champions into a state of pandemonium.
Verdict - United to lose
Hull City vs Manchester United
Everything to play for or a game of no significance?
All will be unraveled in the upcoming weeks but if the Red Devils need all three points to be crowned Premier League champions at the KC stadium, expect Fergie's men to die trying.
They are used to the pressure on the final day of the season and if there is one boss in modern day football who thrives on such big occasions, it has to be the master tactician, Sir Alex Ferguson.
Verdict - United win
Will my predictions hold up or will we see an unexpected turn of events in the remaining nine games before a champion is crowned?
Whatever the results, the ribbons on the trophy will be red for either United or Liverpool.
Or will Guus Hiddink pull off a spectacular nine game unbeaten run?
We all know what the Blues are capable of.
