Klinsmann to coach Bayern Munich next season
MUNICH, Germany (AFP) - Bayern Munich announced on Friday that former German national coach Juergen Klinsmann will take over as the club's new manager next season.
"Former Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann will take over on July 1, 2008," said a statement on the club's website.
Although current manager Ottmar Hitzfeld had already announced he was leaving the club at the end of the current season, the appointment of Klinsmann is a surprise with Bundesliga action yet to resume after the mid-season winter break.

Klinsmann to take charge of Bayern
Former Germany manager to replace Hitzfeld at the beginning of July
Bayern Munich have announced that J黵gen Klinsmann will take over as head coach of the club at the start of July. The appointment will see Klinsmann return to the club where he won Uefa Cup and German championship honours in a two-year stint as a player between 1995 and 1997. He will replace Ottmar Hitzfeld, who had already announced his decision to step down at the end of the season.
The appointment took much of Germany by surprise. "I counted with all sorts of options, but this was never one of them," said Udo Lattek, a former Bayern coach and now a television commentator.
