ade sesape suke sweet valley series zaman kanak-kanak dulu? mase franchise SVH senior year, siri ni ditulis oleh creatornya sendiri, Francine Pascal.. aku beli kesemua 48 buku ni..
Pastu i got hooked on Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar when i was 18...
tapi paling klasik memang Mills & Boon series that i've been reading since i was 16 M&B bukan typical chick lit cam shopaholic series, tapi aku tau most of the chicks out there mesti suke punye M&B.. malu nak ngaku je |

aiksss....tak de sapa ke nak reply? takder ke chic mum kat sini? actually..aku ni takde chic nya..cuma kalo baca cite psl chic mum, terberangan sendrik...my definition of chic mum is....dok kat umah not working by choice n ada abundant of money...ada nanny jaga anak2..tapi sekali-sekali attend PTA at children's schools wearing designer brand suits. pastu, hari2 gi shopping or spa, or club jumpa kawan2 but still manage to chaufferd her kids to friends house naik luxury mini mpv or sports car or sth....
tu yg aku suka cari buku chic mom...sebab pd hakikatnya, aku cumalah ibu2 yg dok umah, kena kemas umah, masak, lipat baju, hantar anak gi sekolah n everything else....nothing glamour at all...
tu yg suka cari escapism dgn baca buku2 related to mum but a more glamourous life indeed... |

Shot at 2007-08-03
can a stranger heal your heart?
After Kendra Tamale returns to England from Australia, she rents a room from Kyle, a single father of two, and looks forward to an uncomplicated life.
Kyle's young twins, Summer and Jaxon, have other ideas and quickly adopt Kendra as their new mother - mainly because she lets them eat marshmallows for breakfast. Even though Kendra is hiding a painful secret that makes her keep everyone - particularly children - at arm's length, life improves for her as she becomes a part of their family.
Then Kendra bumps into the man who shares her awful secret and everything falls apart - especially when the kids are taken away by their mother. The only way to fix things is to confess all about her past, but that's something she swore never to do...

i just finished reading jennifer weiner. for a dose of reality, jennifer weiner's story are rarely the happily-ever-after without stumbling through blocks of life. but her stories felt real, as if holding memories of someone dear to us. not the usual cinderalla, fairy-tale type, but usually with a dose of reality. i cried buckets reading two of her books..
these are her books, which i've read:
this had been turned into a film starring cameron diaz

The Feller sisters are equal but opposite. Maggieis the good-looking, dyslexic little sister who knows how to getanything she wants--but not how to keep it. She "felt as if somewherebetween the ages of fourteen and sixteen she'd walked off the edge of acliff and had been falling ever since." Rose is the plump, practical, responsible older sister who knows about law but not much about her ownhappiness: "What did she like, besides shoes, and Jim, and foods thatwere bad for her?" When Maggie's latest eviction lands her in Rose'sapartment, and Maggie insults Rose by seducing one of her sister's rareboyfriends, what follows is a chain of events by turns hilarious andheartbreaking. Embarrassed Rose evicts Maggie and begins a worksabbatical leading to a new livelihood and way of living. Maggie fleesand runs away to Princeton. Masquerading as a student, she learns tolove poetry and saves money for a trip to Miami--and a visit to along-lost grandmother named Ella who might offer her a last shot atsanctuary. But In Her Shoes, the second novel from Good in Bedauthor Jennifer Weiner, is about more than the sisters' latest siblingrivalry; Maggie and Rose must sort out the childhood vulnerabilitiesand family mysteries that still linger two decades after their mother'sdeath. In less capable hands, the plot might grow corny, but Weiner'shumor and affection for the characters ultimately helps them transcendboth neuroses and grief and learn the redemptive power of love. --Jane Hodges

Jennifer Weiner, whose novels Good in Bed and In Her Shoes earned her a place among women's book club aficionados everywhere, proves she still has the touch with Little Earthquakes,a tale of love, heartbreak, redemption, and friendship. Weiner's novelcenters around four new mothers, all of whom must learn to adjust theirlives and their marriages to deal with the challenges of raisingchildren. Ayinde is a beautiful, biracial newscaster who moves toPhiladelphia after her husband, a star player for the NBA, is traded tothe 76ers. She meets Becky, an overweight chef who plays the "pregnantor just fat" game every time she passes a mirror, and Kelly, anoverachieving event planner who has her whole life mapped out down tothe most minute details, after going into labor at a prenatal yogaclass. The three become fast friends, and come to rely on each otherfor everything from burping techniques to intense emotional support. The group grows to include Lia, a semi-famous Hollywood starlet wholeaves her husband and returns to Philly after a sudden tragedy.
While Little Earthquakesmay leave little to the imagination, and some of the characters arelaughably stereotypical (the Mama's boy Jewish doctor and the cheatingball player, to name a few), it is Weiner's gift for creatingcompelling characters with whom her readers can identify that make hersuch a successful storyteller. --Gisele Toueg

ada sesapa kat sini read donna andrews?
I have just started to read one of her books, the first in Meg Langslow series... titled 'Murder with Peacocks'. Okay, the title does not seems like it is a chick lit, but when I read the book, I think it belongs to this genre. It is a mixture of chick lit and mystery, but the way it was written, I don't really know how to describe, but it is a different kind of the way mystery novel normally written, the one that I've read so far...
This first book tells about Meg Langslow, who is the heroine, as u can guess from the series name. Meg has to be bridesmaid not to one, not to two, but three weddings. Her mother's, brother's and best friend's weddings, all in one summer, and she have to manage the weddings as well, so she is some kind of free of charge wedding planner without her knowing it.
She have to go back to her hometown (I can't remember the name), which is a small town, so u can guess that everybody will know everyone there, and how gossip can spread fast etc. Her family also quite interesting, Meg has one older sister, Pam, who is already married with kids, and a brother Rob, who's going to marry a girl named Samantha which Meg does not really looking forward to be her sister in law. Both her siblings live at the town as well as her parents, who are already divorced for 5 years I think, but still acted like they are still married e.g. they have dinner together, her father still doing chores for her mother. Her family, including relatives sometimes are quite outrageous.
Her best friend, Eileen, who's going to get married is hopeless in organization, so that leaves Meg to handle everything, but Eileen always has some weird ideas with her wedding theme/ceremony. And Meg also annoyed with the way Eileen and his fiancee, Steve, keeps pushing Steve's brother to her, matchmaking.
Samantha, her brother's fiance, is a bride from hell, she seems to think that everything should be focus on her.
And then there is handsome Michael, who is new in town, as he has to temporarily took her mother's place, the owner of the dress shop for the wedding. Now, that is the kind of guy that Meg would like to fall in love. Unfortunately, Michael is a gay, or so the rumours say...
Just after a few days Meg came back to her hometown, there was a death of her mother's fiancee's sister in law, which later on they thought was a murder. So now Meg has to divide her time between organizing 3 weddings and also investigating a murder, and the mystery keeps coming.
Ops.. forgot to mention. This book is written in first person. |
