Due to the fiasco of Akademi Fantasia, I have yet to even congratulate David Cook for clinching the title of American Idol. I was quite certain with the praises David Archuleta had received, he would surely be voted as the winners. But a 12 million margin speaks more than just votes. Congratulatulations David Cook!!! David Cook is officially the new king of pop or even rock or what ever you want to call it. Move aside Mr SexyBack..
David Cook has impressed us the past weeks with his personal interpretation of songs which we would never have pictured of. He had made numbers by Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Aerosmith and a performance of Phantom of the Opera into a genre of his own full of the Cook's flavour. i almost cried when he was crowned the champ because he really began as an underdog. I really hope his career will take the path of Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson and not like the previous male winners, Taylor Hicks and ruben Studdard.
You see I have always been fascinated by Carta , music charts. I used to have a music chart since the early 90s. I was just crazy about statistics. Give it any charts, Billboard or Carta Era or even the good old days of Pujaan 10- Nescafe. Well this week, David Cook has inspired me to talk about music charts. This new rock crooner has entered (as in debuted) the Billboard Hot 100 charts with an amazingly indescribable 11 songs.
This thing has never happened before ever okay. I am not sure whether the Beatles did it the last time but not actually having 11 debuts on the same week. Kira kalau buat album, semua album orang okan dengar. this is inclusive of the iTunes download for all his weekly songs. In the Hot Digital Download charts , David earned 14 new tracks in the charts. Gila siot!!!! Am proud of him. Nearest competition Archuletta only had 3 new tracks entered. You see it is so difficult to chart with even one song in the US market, and having 14 is just amazing.
