Another Hendo in the making?

It had appeared that £15 million would be enough to secure Allen, but Laudrup has suggested that figure could be on the low side.

"Joe is worth a lot of money," Laudrup said.

"Their manager knows if he wants to change the way Liverpool play he needs a midfielder like Joe who is young and can play at the highest level.

"We saw they bought a couple of midfielders in the last few years for a lot of money but Joe is on a level above.

"If one is worth £17 million then he is worth more, perhaps £20 million or so."

Liverpool could pip Spurs to Sahin as Rodgers' relationship with Mourinho may help seal loan deal for Madrid midfielder

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin. And Brendan Rodgers’ close relationship with Jose Mourinho could give the Anfield club an edge over Arsenal and Tottenham in negotiations.

Spanish newspaper Marca says Liverpool want to take the Turkey international on a season-long loan, which could suit all parties.

Sahin showed reluctance to join Spurs when Andre Villas-Boas wanted him as part of a proposed deal to sell Luka Modric to the Spanish champions.

It had been claimed that Arsenal were favourites to sign him in recent days, but Mourinho could convince the 23-year-old that a year with Rodgers would benefit his development.

Rodgers impressed the Portguese at Chelsea, where he worked as the youth team manager from 2004 before being promoted to look after the reserves in 2006.

Sahin struggled to make an impact at the Bernabeu after signing from Borussia Dortmund for £8million last year and the former Chelsea boss says he is prepared to let him leave.

He made just four league appearances - 10 in all competitions - and has asked for more first-team football.

Bologna put £15.9million price tag on Liverpool and Spurs target Gaston Ramirez

LIVERPOOL and Tottenham have been told they will have to pay £15.9 million for Bologna’s Gaston Ramirez, according to Gazzetta dello sport.

The Reds reportedly made a £12.5 million offer last week for the winger but it appears that would have been rejected.

Bologna are required to pay 30% of any transfer fee they receive for the 21-year-old to his former club Penarol and so are looking to push up the player’s value as much as they can.

Liverpool demand £22M for Barcelona, Man City target Agger

Liverpool will demand £22m for Manchester City target Daniel Agger, although a player-plus-cash deal involving Adam Johnson could also be an option, according to the Guardian.

The Blues are looking for cover for central defenders Joleon Lescott and Vincent Kompany and are thought to have an £18m bid on the table.

Suarez Signs Long-term Extension

Luis Suarez has put pen to paper on a new contract with Liverpool Football Club. This new, long-term contract will see the Uruguayan extend his stay at Anfield past 2016.

A report on the club’s official channel, LFCTV, appeared confirming that Luis Suarez has signed a new deal with the club. Interestingly, this was quickly removed as the official announcement is to be made much later.

After speculation of interest from a number of clubs including Juventus and a new look, splash the cash, PSG, his future was in doubt. Rodgers was keen to tie the Uruguayan to a new deal despite having 4 years left on the current contract.

Suarez fueled speculation earlier this summer when asked about his future by saying, “There are many big clubs with such a reputation that want to build a top team and Paris is one of those teams that is recruiting to strengthen. I would love if (me and Lugano) could play together.” Lugano is Suarez’s fellow countryman playing for PSG.

With Juventus winning Serie A, they looked to recruit Robin Van Persie and Luis Suarez as their new strike force, after the departure of Del Piero.

Rodgers is keen to work with Suarez, who returned to training today. The club affirmed Suarez’s importance to the squad by not wasting time in securing one of its best players. Now, the Boss and Liverpool fans can rest easy as it seems likely that El Pistolero is going nowhere.

With Jonjo Shelvey and Luis Suarez handed new deals, who would you like to see put pen to paper next?

Suarez signs new contract

Luis Suarez has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The Uruguay forward committed his future to the Reds by putting pen to paper on the deal on Tuesday afternoon after returning to Melwood following the Olympics earlier this week.

Moments after signing the deal, Suarez told Liverpoolfc.com: "To sign a new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me because I am so happy here at both the club and also in the city.

"That is important for me and I am very happy with my new contract.

"When you are a kid, everybody wants to play for Liverpool. I am here now and it is a dream for me, and now I am a Liverpool fan.

"I am happy off the pitch because the people of Liverpool are good with me and my family. I try my best on the pitch and when you are happy off the pitch, you are happy on the pitch.

"I want to say thank-you to the fans because they are our 12th player. The supporters of Liverpool are unbelievable.

"Five or six years ago I watched on TV the stadium and the club, and now I play here and the supporters have helped me. That's very important for me."

Suarez has established himself as a Kop favourite at Anfield since his transfer from Ajax in January 2011.

The No.7 has scored 21 goals and created countless assists for his teammates in 52 appearances for Liverpool.

Manager Brendan Rodgers added: "I'm delighted. When you have the opportunity to work with world-class players it's fantastic.

"There were certainly a few clubs who were interested in him but over the off-season he and I communicated well - and he's committed himself for the long term here now.

"He's really looking forward to playing in this way of working. As a manager and for the supporters, I'm delighted because I know how important he is for them."

Stay tuned to Liverpoolfc.com throughout the night for more exclusive reaction to the deal from Suarez and Rodgers.
