This is a Korean name; the family name is Jeong.
Jeong Mong-ju (Korean: 정몽주, Hanja: 鄭夢周, 1337 – 1392), also known by his pen name Poeun (Korean: 포은), was a Korean civil minister and scholar from the end period of the Goryeo Dynasty.[1][2
]
Jeong Mong-ju was born in Yeongcheon, Gyeongsang province to a family from the Yeongil Jeong clan. At the age of 23, he took three different civil service literary examinations (Gwageo) and received the highest marks possible on each of them.[2] In 1367, he became an instructor in Neo-Confucianism at the Gukjagam, then called "Seonggyungwan", whilst simultaneously holding a government position, and was a faithful public servant to King U. The king had great confidence in his wide knowledge and good judgement, and so he participated in various national projects and his scholarly works earned him great respect in the Goryeo court. In 1372, Jeong Mong-ju visited China, as a diplomatic envoy. Around the time, as waegu (Japanese pirate)'s invasions to the Korean Peninsula were extreme, Jeong Mong-ju was dispatched as a delegate to Kyūshū in 1377.[2][3] His negotiations led to promises of Japanese aid in defeating the pirates. He traveled to the Chinese capital city in 1384[4] and negotiations with the Ming Dynasty led to peace with China in 1385. He also founded an institute devoted to the theories of Confucianism. Jeong Mong-ju was murdered in 1392 by five men on the Sonjukkyo Bridge in Gaeseong following a banquet held for him by Yi Bang-won (later Taejong of Joseon), the fifth son of Yi Seong-gye, who overthrew the Goryeo Dynasty, in order to found the Joseon Dynasty. Jeong Mong-ju was murdered because he refused to betray his loyalty to the Goryeo Dynasty. Yi Bang-won recited a poem to dissuade Jeong Mong-ju from remaining loyal to the Goryeo court, but Jeong Mong-ju answered with another poem (Dansimga, 단심가/ 丹心歌) that affirmed his loyalty. Yi Seong-gye is said to have lamented Jeong Mong-ju's death and rebuked his son because Jeong Mong-ju was a highly regarded politician by the courts of China and Japan. The bridge where Jeong Mong-ju was murdered, now in North Korea, has now become a national monument of that country. A brown spot on one of the stones is said to be Jeong Mong-ju's bloodstain, and is said to become red whenever it rains. Currently, his direct surviving descendants are his 21st and 22nd generation, all of whom reside in South Korea and the United States. The 474-year-old Goryeo Dynasty symbolically ended with Jeong Mong-ju's death, and was followed by the Joseon Dynasty for 505 years (1392 – 1897). Jeong Mong-ju's noble death symbolises his faithful allegiance to the king, and he was later venerated even by Joseon monarchs. In 1517, 125 years after his death, he was canonised into the National Academy alongside other Korean sages such as Yi I (Yulgok) andYi Hwang (Toegye). The 11th pattern of ITF Taekwon-Do is named after Poeun. The pattern is performed as part of the testing syllabus for the level of 2nd degree black belt. The diagram ( - ) represents his unerring loyalty to the king and country towards the end of the Goryeo Dynasty.

Six Flying Dragons - Ep. 27
The historical background to help understand Ep. 27
■ King Gongyang (공양왕 恭讓王, 1345~1394) (Reign : 1389~1392) - Name : Wang Yo (왕요 王瑤)
- Official title : Prince Jeongchang (정창군 定昌君)
- The last king of Goryeo Dynasty.
- Wang Yo is the descendent of King Shinjong (신종 神宗 1144~1204), the 20th ruler of Goryeo. While the previous 2 kings’ lineage was doubtful (there was a rumor that they were Traitor Shin Don’s descendents), Wang Yo had secure legitimacy.
- Yi Seong-Gye had originally recommended him as their new monarch since the Wihwa island retreat (1388), because Yi Seong-Gye’s 7th son (Yi Bang-Beon) married the daughter of Wang Yo’s brother.
- According to the history, his character was kind and gentle, but somewhat indecisive. Jo Joon evaluated him like “Since he has been raised in a noble environment, the only thing he can do is to make a fortune. He doesn’t know how to rule a country. I don’t think he is a right person for King.”
- As a man born and raised in a rich and noble environment, he didn’t like the radical social reforms led by Jung Do-Jeon and Jo Joon. So, he favored Jung Mong-Joo to keep Yi Seong-Gye’s revolutionist party in check during his reign.
- I think his concubine, Yoon-Rang (윤랑), is a fictional character. At least, I couldn’t find her in the historical records.
■ Traitor Kim Yong (김용 金鏞, ?~1363) In January 1362, three days after Goryeo armies recaptured the capital from the Red Turbans, three Goryeo generals had to murder their supreme commander Jung Se-Woon (정세운 鄭世雲) in obedience to a royal command. In fact, the king’s command was later found to be forged by traitorKim Yong (김용, 金鏞) who was afraid that the war heroes would threaten his power in the court. The 3 generals were executed under a false accusation of killing the supreme commander. One of them was Jung Mong-Joo’s teacher.
One year after the horrible tragedy, traitor Kim Yong sent about 50 assassins to kill King Gongmin staying in Heungwangsa temple. This 1363 incident is called the rebellion of Heungwangsa temple (흥왕사의 변, 興王寺─變). Kim Yong’s assassination attempt ended in failure and he was also executed. Yes, that is the official story written in the history book. However, some Joseon-era historians doubted that the king’s command was forged by Kim Yong. They thought the real culprit to kill the 4 war heroes was not Kim Yong but King Gongmin himself. The king was capricious and sensitive. He might be devoured by jealousy and couldn’t stand that the generals were hailed as saviours while he was fleeing from the royal palace. The historians pointed out King Gongmin missed the absence of Kim Yong so much that he shed tears even if Kim Yong had attempted to kill the king. ■ How to appoint the government officials. When Sambong and Poeun stayed up nearly all night talking about the reforms Sambong had designed in the cave, one of their main topics was “how to appoint the government officials”. During Goryeo period, the children or relatives of high-level nobles (royalty, a meritorious retainer, a top rank official) were admitted into the government posts without passing the state examination. It was called Eumseo system (음서제 蔭敍制). As Sambong said, a 12-year-old kid born with a silver spoon in his mouth could be appointed as a high rank official in this system. Of course, there were bureaucrats who had passed the state exam, but the majority of Goryeo’s government officials were the beneficiaries of Eumseo system. “Once a noble, always a noble.” The class system became almost fixed and was locked in a vicious circle. As Joseon was established, Jung Do-Jeon completely changed the system. With very few exceptions, the majority of Joseon’s bureaucrats were Confucian scholars who had passed the civil service exam. A social atmosphere was established where one’s ability is considered more important. Of course it had its own limitations, because commoners couldn’t have enough time to study the complicated Confucian books so Sadaebu class still dominated the government posts. (This problem was handled in Tree with Deep Roots, the sequel to SFD) However, at least Joseon government could prevent an incompetent kid with a silver spoon in his mouth from being a bureaucrat to run the country.
