Man Utd v Everton
Venue: Old Trafford Date: Saturday, 31 January Kick-off: 1730 GMT

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is still out (hamstring) but could feature against West Ham next Sunday.

Brazilian full-back Fabio is pushing for a start against Everton as Patrice Evra and Nani prepare for a return to action next week.

Everton may be without midfielders Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini.

Both picked up injuries in Wednesday's draw against Arsenal, with Cahill bruising his right foot and Fellaini suffering a knock to his shin.

Manchester United (from): Van der Sar, Foster, Kuszczak, Neville, Ferdinand, Brown, Vidic, O'Shea, Fabio, Chester, Eckersley, Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs, Carrick, Park, Gibson, Possebon, Tevez, Berbatov, Welbeck.

Everton (from): Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Lescott, Baines, Anichebe, Gosling, Castillo, Rodwell, Neville, Osman, Arteta, Fellaini, Pienaar, Cahill, Nash, Yobo, Van der Meyde, Jacobsen, Jutkiewicz.

Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson on the Premier League title race:
"We have lost leagues on the final day and won them on the final day, so we are treating this seriously, no matter who we play.

"David Moyes has done an incredible job at Everton without getting the credit that he deserves. He has never had the resources that you get at a club like United."

Everton manager David Moyes:
"This is the biggest test because you are playing the world champions, European champions and Premier League champions.

"But we are playing like champions, in our own minds. When you think that way you can go to Old Trafford with confidence.

"Hopefully if we get our moments we can try to take our chances."

Everton too soon for trio

Patrice Evra, Nani and Wayne Rooney aren't fit to face Everton on Saturday, but Sir Alex Ferguson remains hopeful that Nemanja Vidic will recover from a knock in training.

It was hoped that Evra (ankle), who has missed the last five games since limping off against Chelsea, would make his comeback, but the game has come too soon.

The same can be said of Nani (groin) and Rooney (hamstring), who also miss out for the Toffees visit to Old Trafford. But, like Evra, they're both expected to be available for the trip to West Ham United next Sunday, 8 February.

"Nani and Evra are both training with the first team," said the boss, "and Wayne will join us on Monday."

Nemanja Vidic is the only question mark for Sir Alex, who has everyone else from the squad that defeated West Brom 5-0 on Tuesday. United will have a late check on the Serbian defender.

“Nemanja got a knock in training on Thursday, hopefully he’ll be all right,”
said the boss. “He missed

Bouyant Fergie wants 80 goals

Sir Alex Ferguson reckons his Manchester United strikers can break the 80-goal mark on the way to glory this season.

With praise coming from all corners for the Red Devil's 11 consecutive clean sheets, Ferguson was adamant that it will be the attacking part of the game that will help them defend the title.

Ferguson said: "I certainly think they are capable of doing it. Quite rightly the defenders have been taking the credit this season up until now.

"I just hope now that it's going to be the forwards who take the credit.

"The case of Ronaldo is a good one. Last year was a miracle season. To score 42 goals as a winger, it is hard to imagine he could replicate that.

"Yet people are saying he has not had a great season but he's still got 13 goals for us and had 11 assists.

"If we could dismiss last season altogether you would say that was incredible for a winger to score 13 goals by the half-way mark.

"So he will without doubt end up with over 20. Berbatov's record at Tottenham was 20 goals or more a season and we expect that again. And of course if we can get the extra stuff from Carlos and Wayne it gives us a better chance."

Fergie's four strikers have bagged a grand totally of 46 goals between them so far with Cristiano Ronaldo netting 13, Wayne Rooney 12, Dimitar Berbatov 11 and Carlos Tevez 10.

Exclusive: Hansen: Manchester United Have Abundant Quality

New Football Pools pundit Alan Hansen Talks exclusively to Goal.com about Manchester United's surge to the top of the Premier League...

Alan Hansen was a colossus on the pitch for Liverpool and Scotland, becoming a true Anfield legend and collecting a host of medals in a glittering playing career. And since hanging up his boots he's become a giant of football punditry too, renowned for his forthright views and analyses which are eagerly anticipated by millions of viewers of BBC TV's Match of the Day every week.

Hansen is impressed by the hard work that has underpinned Manchester United's record-breaking run of consecutive clean-sheets, and by the class of Dimitar Berbatov in the Red Devils' attack. He has no doubt that Sir Alex Ferguson's defending champions will take some shifting now that they have moved to the front in the title race - but thinks that winning the quadruple will be a tall order, even for them...

Berbatov's Contribution To An Outstanding Run

"Manchester United have now hit the top of the Premier League after an incredible run of form though at no time did I ever think they were out of the title race. They have an abundance of top quality players and the run they抳e embarked on despite a packed fixture schedule is quite simply outstanding.

"Sir Alex抯 side were grinding out 1-0 wins but showed against West Brom that they抳e plenty of goals in them. Dimitar Berbatov is receiving the plaudits for his recent goal scoring hot streak but for me, there was never a problem with the Bulgarian抯 form in a red shirt. Of course when you are a
