Arsenal star Alexander Hleb has agreed to join Inter in the summer, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Nerazzurri have been heavily linked with the skilful Belarusian in recent weeks, and indeed there were reports last month that the player held secret talks with Inter officials prior to Arsenal抯 Champions League game with Milan at San Siro.
This was later denied by Inter, however sources this morning are claiming that Hleb has agreed to join the Nerazzurri in time for next season.
The 26-year-old is said to have agreed on a five-year contract worth three million euros per season.
Inter will pay Arsenal a rather reasonable-looking 14 million euros for the player who will be Luis Figo抯 replacement on the left hand side of midfield.
Figo抯 contract at San Siro runs out at the end of this campaign, and he will either retire from football, or see out his remaining years in the Major League Soccer in America. |

Fed-up Arsenal keeper Almunia blasts back at Lehmann
Manuel Almunia has had enough and hit back at Arsenal goalkeeper rival Jens Lehmann after a season of constant public criticism from the German. Following Lehmann's latest attack in the aftermath of Tuesday night's Champions League elimination at Liverpool, Almunia told the Guardian: "Every morning I wake up. "I know it is going to be the same. I've had to put up with it every day since he was out of the team and even before then. I wake up and I know what it is going to be like. But I don't care about him any more. He can say what he likes. I come into training and I work with Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone. They are better goalkeepers than him anyway. "It's his problem, not mine, and I don't see why I should try to talk to him about it. The truth is I don't want to talk to him. I came into training this morning and one of the press officers told me he had been saying bad things about me in the newspapers again. It didn't surprise me. The truth is I have got used to reading these things from him. If he was someone important to me, I would try to talk to him and see what the problem is. But he's not. So we don't talk. "I've never been in a situation like this before in my career," he says. "Normally we goalkeepers have so much respect for each other. Why he doesn't respect me, I don't know. But I don't want any relationship with him. I try not to let what he says enter my mind because it's not important to me what he says or what he thinks." Almunia, who recently signed a new deal, also insisted any new keeper signing would be welcomed at Emirates stadium. "If another goalkeeper comes in he will be made welcome," he says. "I hope we can have a good atmosphere with all the goalkeepers working together. I signed my contract because my heart is with Arsenal." |

Van Persie: Beautiful football before titles
Striker Robin van Persie has defended manager Ars鑞e Wenger's policy of prioritising beautiful football before fighting for championships.
Wenger has always enthused that the priority is to entertain the fans who pay good money to watch football, explaining that whilst winning games was important, it was also important to do it in style.
And Dutch international van Persie has now echoed his manager's sentiments, saying: "Football is basically about giving enjoyment to people. That is where it starts. We are like 11 actors.
"We have to give enjoyment to people buying a ticket for the game. Of course, you have to win as well.
"But I don't want to change because I really believe we can win things with this style of football."
van Persie also admitted that due to his contribution to the club, Wenger will never likely be under pressure to deliver trophies at the prospect of sacrificing the Gunners' beautiful style of football.
"I don't think he is ever under pressure at Arsenal because he has done really big things for the club.
"I think the boss has trust from the people above him. When you sign for Arsenal, you know you are going to have the same manager for some years.
"I started out with fantastic ambitions but ended up with a knee problem. It has been very frustrating." |
