Man United vs Man City Player Ratings
Manchester City put their city and title rivals Manchester United to sword with a comprehensive 6-1 victory to extend their lead in the Premier League table.
Manchester United
David De Gea - 5.5
The improving Spaniard couldn't have done much about all six goals conceded. Well, he could rant at his defenders in the dressing room for abandoning him, but nothing much else. Denied Dzeko in the 75th minute with an excellent save from point-blank range.
Patrice Evra - 2
As the captain, Evra should have had more sense than to bomb forward all the time, leaving Micah Richards to exploit the space like a ten-year-old set free on a playground. Yes, that typifies the United spirit of never-give-up attacking football, but a 6-1 scoreline won't appease fans at all.
Rio Ferdinand - 3.5
Looked steady in the first half but his lack of pace was woefully exposed in the second half whenever City went on the counter attack. Not helped by the fact that his defensive partner left him in the lurch.
Jonny Evans - 1
Did everything wrong while he was on the pitch: failed to close Mario Balotelli down for the opening goal and fluffed a golden chance to put United level from six yards on. His tendency to switch off from the match cost him dearly this time. Evans was caught unawares by Balotelli and hauled him down where it would have been smarter to trust De Gea's one-on-one skills
Chris Smalling - 4.5
Ironically, the newest member of the back four was the steadiest throughout, Smalling was excellent in the first half, going on the overlap and defending well. His second half was inevitably worse as City threw more men forward, but he managed to acquit himself whenever he was challenged.
Darren Fletcher - 5.5
He was always there to provide an option for his teammate to pass to in the first half and did well to cut out the City attack before it developed. Slowly faded away as the game wore on, being overshadowed by David Silva and James Milner. Scored a sweet goal to give United a shade of hope in the 80th minute, curling home a sweet one-two from Hernandez.
Anderson (Off 66') - 3.5
Anderson has the potential to be the spark of creativity that United but his inconsistency still hampers his play. He lacked inventiveness in breaking down the City defense in the first half and was poor in the holding role after Evans was sent off.
Luis Nani (Off 66') - 3.5
Uncharacteristically quiet match for Nani, especially given that he used to torture Gael Clichy down the flank for fun when United played Arsenal in the past seasons. Too easily pressured into the corner and was largely ineffective, losing the ball too frequently.
Ashley Young - 5
Young never stopped chasing the game for United, pulling his weight defensively at times and chasing after every opportunity. He must have been wishing that he wasn't up against Micah Richards, who was on song in the derby match.
Wayne Rooney - 5.5
A typical performance from Rooney, who never gave up the game and hounded the midfield for the ball in the second half. He was denied by City in the most old-fashioned way - by putting two men on him whenever he came into contact with the ball.
Danny Welbeck - 3
He has speed and power but lacked the guile and creativity to cut open City's defence. His performance reminded me of a cartoon I saw where a stubborn bull headbutted a door to no avail. For 90 minutes.
Substitutes
Phil Jones (On 66') - 3
Guilty of naivety there as he took his place as a right back but went gallivanting upfield in search of a goal instead.
Javier Hernandez (On 66') - 5
Hernandez came on too late to make a meaningful impact. United did look more dangerous on the attack with him around, skirting between the midfielders and defenders. Showed excellent awareness to set up Fletcher's goal.
Manchester City
Joe Hart - 5.5
Had an easy derby as all the shots except for Fletcher's goal were directed straight at him. Surely he had some kind of ball magnet somewhere!
Micah Richards - 8.5
Richards was one of City's best performers with his never-ending patrolling of the right flank, keeping Young quiet and bursting forward to assist on the attack. Was involved in the set-up of two goals.
Vincent Kompany - 7.5
Marshalled the back line well to deny the United attack of space. His dominance in the air also nullified the threat of Young and Nani the few times the manage to get crosses in.
Joleon Lescott - 7.5
Didn't have much to do as he partnered Kompany to tidy up the City box. Assisted in Dzeko's goal by cutting Barry's header back to the striker.
Gael Clichy - 7.5
An excellent outing from the ex-Arsenal man as he did well to keep Nani quiet in his flank. His offensive work still needs a lot of work, though.
Yaya Toure - 8
Sat in front of the City back four to great effectiveness, rushing onto the nearest red shirt with the ball to deny him space. Deserves utmost credit for resisting temptation to rush up to attack.
Gareth Barry - 8
Barry played alongside Toure and hardly put a foot wrong, doing his man-marking job well.
James Milner (Off 89') - 8
Justified his place in the starting XI ahead of Samir Nasri and was the catalyst for City's lead, setting up the first two goals while tracking back to do his duties defensively.
David Silva - 9
I swear this guy has some kind of ball-directing laser on his boots. His pinpoint distribution gave his teammates the incisive edge that United seemed to lack and his practiced ability to dribble through tight spaces is a gift few have. Perhaps a potential transfer target in the summer?
Sergio Aguero (Off 76') - 8
A rather quiet performance by his standards. Still, he managed to threaten and pull the awkward defence apart. Scored City's third goal to seal the win.
Mario Balotelli (Off 70') - 8.5
Proved that he is intelligent enough to string together a sentence in his ‘Why always me?' shirt to celebrate his goal despite not being able to put on a bib. Jokes aside, with two goals and an assist in this massive fixture, Balotelli should be proud of being the extra edge City have in this match. Perhaps he can loan his shirt to a certain Jonny Evans.
Substitutes
Alex Kolarov (On 89') - N/A
Samir Nasri (On 76') - N/A
Edin Dzeko (On 70') - 7.5
Came on to score two goals, but missed two excellent chances which he should have tucked away. Good movement to find himself free and torment the tired United defence. |

Mario Balotelli
'Why Always Me?' - presumably alluding to his latest headline-grabbing escapades.
Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has escaped unhurt after a firework went off in his bathroom.
Two fire engines were sent to the home of Italy international Balotelli in Mottram St Andrew, Macclesfield, in the early hours of Saturday morning after the alarm was raised. They found a fire in the bathroom on the first floor of the detached property.
Four firefighters arrived wearing breathing apparatus and used two hose reel water jets to douse the flames, and a large fan was deployed to clear smoke.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews managed to put the fire out within half an hour of arriving but remained at the scene until 2.45am to prevent any possible flare-ups.
"Smoke alarms were fitted at the property and the occupiers were able to get out unharmed. The fire was caused by a firework.''
The cause of the blaze is being examined by fire investigators and police but is not being treated as suspicious. |

Tevez didenda 800,000 pound
2011/10/26

Berapa jumlah ganti rugi bakal dikenakan?
Siapa lagi bakal terbabit?

Man City vs Wolves Player Ratings
Manchester City overcame Wolves at the Etihad Stadium despite having Vincent Kompany sent off to maintain their lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League.
Man City
Joe Hart - 5.5
Hardly tested throughout, but Hart could have done better when he spilled the shot that led to the Wolves penalty and Kompany's dismissal.
Micah Richards - 7.5
Making his 200th City appearance, Richards staked his claim as the premier right back in England with a powerful display. He looked dangerous whenever he threatened on the right flank and managed to keep Hunt quiet in defense.
Vincent Kompany - 6.5
Unfortunate to be sent off after he was slower than Kevin Doyle to react to Hart's spilled shot and was judged to have impeded him. A solid performance throughout from the City skipper.
Joleon Lescott - 7
An easy outing for the former Everton man as Wolves failed to mount any serious threat in the City half of the pitch. Lescott won almost every header he challenged for and stood firm after Kompany was sent off.
Aleksandar Kolarov - 7.5
He was afforded so much freedom on the left flank that he managed to pop up in the box to tuck away Silva's parried shot to grab a goal.
David Silva - 7.5
A relatively quiet showing after his mercurial performance last week, but Silva was still the heart and soul of City's game, playing Aguero and Dzeko into dangerous positions all the time.
Yaya Toure - 7
Toure had to curb his forward-charging instincts to hold the midfield for City. He was always there for his teammates as an option to fall back to and continued his energetic running about until the very last minute.
Gareth Barry - 8
Barry continued his excellent form recently, dictating play in the midfield and controlling the pace of the game. His defensive contributions were also significant, putting in crucial interceptions and crunching tackles.
Samir Nasri (Off 71') - 7.5
He missed out in last week's victory at Old Trafford but came back with an industrious display, combining well with Kolarov to threaten the Wolves flank.
Sergio Aguero (Off 76') - 6.5
A poor game from the usually-deadly striker as he had one too many heavy touches and could have done better in decision-making to play his teammates into space. Still, his persistence paid off as he chased down Wayne Hennessey for Dzeko's goal.
Edin Dzeko (Off 63') - 7
Dzeko was frustrated by Hennessey's saves in the first half but reacted well to open the scoring. Still, the Bosnian was always threatening for his side, running into space and dragging defenders away.
Substitutes
Adam Johnson (On 63') - 7.5
He scored another of goal that is fast becoming a trademark of his. Johnson latched onto a Toure pass and gave Hennessey no chance with a low shot into the bottom corner.
Mario Balotelli (On 71') - N/A
Stefan Savic (On 76') - N/A
Wolves
Wayne Hennessey - 7.5
He went from hero to zero after his dire error gifted City the opening goal and undid the trio of excellent saves he pulled off in the first half. Credits to the Welshman, as he was the one that gave his side hope throughout.
Richard Stearman - 5.5
An excellent block from him denied Silva of a certain goal. He looked uncomfortable when facing Nasri or Kolarov on the flanks, though.
Roger Johnson - 7
He led the Wolves back line with great determination and looked likely to deny them from his first-half performance. Hardly did anything wrong, frustrating Aguero and Dzeko with excellent reading of the game.
Christophe Berra - 7
Steady at the back in face of City's superior strike force, Berra was industrious in chasing down all the through balls and slaloming runs.
Stephen Ward - 5
Ward was terrorised by Silva and Richards throughout and did not acquaint himself well, relying on the center backs to cover for him.
Stephen Hunt (Off 85') - 5.5
A poor game for Hunt as he failed to make use of the ball on the left flank properly. He was poor in his passing and could have done better in exploiting Richards' forward runs. He calmly sent Hart the wrong side in the spot kick to give his side a glimmer of hope in the closing stages.
Jamie O'Hara - 5.5
The former Tottenham man was largely ineffective with Barry or Toure always within reach of him. His hardworking efforts failed to pay off as he seemed to slow down towards the end.
Adlene Guedioura (Off 85') - 7
An industrious and intelligent performance from the Algerian. Guediora played everything simple and always tried to run into space. His shot led to the penalty and Kompany's sending off.
Karl Henry - 5.5
Henry gave away the ball way too easily on too many occasions. To his credit, he resisted the temptation to hit those long shots he is always so partial to and laid deep in midfield to mop up.
David Edwards (Off 67') - 6.5
His efforts were more recognised defensively as he was always pressing the City players on the flank early before they could establish play. His denial of their space certainly caused City some headaches.
Kevin Doyle - 6
Doyle was always looking to pounce on any loose ball from the hosts and capitalised on one such error to earn his side a penalty.
Substitutes
Adam Hammill (On 67') - 6
Failed to make an impact after coming on as he was no match for City's hardworking defence.
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (On 85') - N/A
Matthew Jarvis (On 85') - N/A |
