Meisa Kuroki to replace Sawajiri in "Yamato"

With Stardust Promotion looking to terminate its contract with actress Erika Sawajiri (23), it appears that rising star Meisa Kuroki (21) may be filling in for her in the live-action "Space Battleship Yamato" movie.
The movie itself was confirmed in July, with SMAP member Takuya Kimura (36) playing the lead. Sawajiri was tentatively offered the part of the heroine, Yuki Mori, and this was expected to be her comeback as an actress. She returned to Japan earlier this month, but her agency later refused to approve her appearance in "Yamato."
Sawajiri has previously caused problems for Stardust, and the company has reportedly decided to cancel her contract. Her dismissal is expected to be made official on September 28.
Along with Sawajiri, Kuroki is one of several actresses who were initially considered for the role of Yuki Mori. With Sawajiri out of the picture now, Kuroki has been chosen to replace her, and she was given an unofficial offer last week.
"Yamato" is scheduled to start filming during mid-October, with theatrical release planned for 2010.

Live-action "Yamato" details revealed

The live-action "Space Battleship Yamato" movie had its cast publicly revealed on Friday, along with other new details about the project. The film is being directed by Takashi Yamazaki with a projected release date in December 2010.
As previously announced, SMAP member Takuya Kimura (36) will star as the protagonist Susumu Kodai, while Meisa Kuroki (21) has been confirmed as the replacement for Erika Sawajiri (23) in the role of Yuki Mori.
Two characters have been modified for the movie. Crew members Aihara and Dr. Sado have been changed into females, played by Maiko (24) and Reiko Takashima (45), respectively.
The other cast members revealed so far are Toshiro Yanagiba (as Shiro Sanada), Naoto Ogata (as Daisuke Shima), Hiroyuki Ikeuchi (as Hajime Saito), Shinichi Tsutsumi (as Mamoru Kodai), Isao Hashizume (as Heikuro Todo), Toshiyuki Nishida (as Hikozaemon Tokugawa), and Tsutomu Yamazaki (as Juzo Okita). The actor playing the antagonist Desslar has not yet been announced.
The CG-heavy film has an estimated budget of more than 2 billion yen. Filming will start later this month.

Kimura Takuya Diundi Jadi Jack Sparrow!
KL, 2 NOVEMBER 2009: Berita baik buat peminat filem lanun paling popular, Pirates of The Caribbean. Murai Batu dapat tahu, filem ini akan memulakan penggambaran sekuelnya tidak lama lagi dijangka sekitar penghujung tahun ini atau selewat-lewatnya pada awal tahun depan. Tajuk bagi sambungan yang terbaru ini juga sudah pun ada iaitu On Stranger Tides.

Dan selepas habis ia dijalankan, akhirnya pelakon popular Jepun, Kimura Takuya dinobatkan sebagai calon yang paling digemari dan layak! Murai Batu difahamkan Kimura layak disebabkan dia yang dilabel sebagai aktor seksi selain personalitinya cukup sesuai dengan peranan itu.
Bakat Kimura mula dipandang diminat di Jepun selepas dia menyertai filem 2046 dan I Come With The Rain. Selepas Kimura, Odagiri Joe menyusul berada di tangga kedua disebabkan auranya yang tidak kurang hebat.

Japanese actor Takuya Kimura is in talks to appear in top South Korean director Kang Je-gyu's Hollywood debut pic, according to a source close to the director.
"The two sides are currently discussing Kimura's casting to the movie and he is at the top of the list but nothing has been set yet," an unnamed source said on Thursday.
Korean actor Jang Dong-gun has already been tapped to lead the cast of the war epic tentatively titled "D-Day", based on the Invasion of Normandy during World War II.
A Hollywood production company will invest in the picture helmed by Kang who will team with close friend and director of hit film "Take Off" from earlier this year, Kim Yong-hwa, who will join the crew as producer.
Kang, currently in the United States for the upcoming blockbuster, is set to return to Korea over the weekend and announce the details of the film through a press conference next week.
The 47-year-old director, often dubbed the Steven Spielberg of East Asia, has produced several of Korea's top films including 1999 hit film "Swiri" and 2004 pic "Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War" which is the third most-watched Korean film in box office history.
Jang has won several critical acclaims for his roles in films since his debut in 1993. He recently starred in box office topper "Good Morning President", the opening film for the Pusan International Film Festival last month.
Kimura is also one of Japan's most popular actors who recently starred alongside Hollywood actor Josh Hartnett and Korea's Lee Byung-hun in "I Come with the Rain" by "Cyclo" filmmaker Tran Anh Hung.
