Actor Zayed Khan, son of Sanjay and Zarine Khan, will marry Malaika this Sunday, November 20. The nikaah ceremony followed by the reception will take place at Mumbai抯 Hotel Grand Hyatt.

On November 15, Zayed unveiled Asia抯 first health channel and launched an unique show, Inner & Outer Beauty With Astrology featuring actor-Parliamentarian Govinda. The show has been designed by Kamini Khanna.

Arbaaz - Malaika抯 house burgled

Arbaaz and Malaika Khan抯 house at Vida Apartments, Bandra was burgled in the wee hours of morning. The thief managed to get hold of a pair of diamond earrings and Indian and foreign currency. The total value of the stolen items is pegged at Rs.88,000. The building is currently under renovation, with scaffolding on three sides.

Their house maid had forgotten to close the grille doors which lead to the balcony. The police believe that was the way through which the burglar entered. The FIR was filed at the couple抯 residence, itself. Arbaaz and Malaika were out and came home at 4 am. Their maid and child slept through the incident. The maid has been ruled off as a suspect, as they trust her. The inquiry is process and they hope to nab the culprit, soon.

IS ABHISHEK ROMANCING WITH TABU?

The tinsel town is again full of romance stories of Abhishek Bachchan with his star colleagues. This way, he seems to be breaking the record of his papa, who was known for his thick relations with his female co-stars. Name an actress of Big B's time, and you come across their romance stories. The son is following into the footsteps of his father. Not in the distant past, Abhishek was named with Rani Mukherjee, Lara Dutta and very recently with Deepinita Sharma. However, the reports of his romance at present with art actress Tabu are talk of the town.

According to industry circles, Tabu is frequently seen along with Abhishek at filmi as well as non-filmi parties in Mumbai. Both of them are often seen in five star hotels wandering together arm in arm at late hours. Incidentally, the reports of growing relationship between Abhishek and dusky Bengali beauty Rani Mukherjee occurred when Big B was doing movies like Sanjay Bhansali's 'Black' and Yash Chopra's 'Bunty Aur Babli' with Rani Mukherjee. Interestingly, this time too, Big B has signed a movie with Tabu. Is it a coincidence or otherwise can be a guess only?

Preity Zinta adds zing to her new films

Preity Zinta is feeling on the top of the world. Her "Salaam Namaste" is a hit. And she has just completed her work in Shirish Kunder's "Jaan-e-Man" and is now into Karan Johar's "Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna".

"No two films, set-ups and directors could be more different. I am so excited," Preity Zinta told IANS from New York.

But there's also the downside. "I am so home-sick! I am living my life out of suitcases. I have been away from home for so long I have forgotten what Mumbai looks like.
  
"I want to walk the streets of my city. I miss the city and specially the food so much! Is Mumbai cleaner now? I hope it is!"

She pauses for breath, and then cheers up at the mention of "Salaam Namaste". "I believe it's even bigger than 'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory' in Australia!

"I spoke to my exhibitor-friend in Mumbai. He told me that the three biggest hits of 2005 in India are 'Bunty Aur Babli,' 'No Entry' and 'Salaam Namaste'... It feels great!
  
"We were going into a rather dangerous territory - live-in relationship and all. But we knew what we were doing. 'Salaam Namaste' reflects the reality about relationships today.

"The director Siddharth Anand was new, but so sure of what he had to say."

She perks up even more while speaking about her co-star.

"Saif and I go back a long way... to my very first film 'Kya Kehna'. And guess what? I was an unwed mom in that too and Saif was the illegitimate father. Small world, huh?
"Saif and I just decided to get back to basics again," she chuckles as only Preity can.

"But seriously Saif and I share such a wonderful rapport. It showed up in all the four films we have done so far. All of them are hits. Yaaaaaaay!"

She lets out a whoop of unconcealed delight. It's 12.45 a.m. in New York and Preity is chewing on a salad. She's all keyed up to go into "Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna".

"My first film with Karan Johar as director. And he goes into a totally unexplored territory. To that extent I guess I will be building on my reputation as an actor who takes risks.

"Karan is such an entertainer, one can never get bored on his sets. I am really looking forward to working with him... and Shah Rukh who's an absolute delight as a co-star.

"And to add to my excitement I will be working with my buddy Abhishek Bachchan for the first time. The only time we have shared camera space was on 'Koffee With Karan'.

"Now I guess Karan will make us have more than just coffee. As for Amitabh Bachchan, unke baare mein jitna kahaa jaye kam hai... Hey, my Hindi is still ok in spite of my NRI status for so many months!"

She chuckles some more at the mention of her female co-star Rani Mukherjee. "She's my good luck charm. Every film we did together was a big hit. I am sure 'Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna' would also be a success."

She's all praise for her "Jaan-e-Man" director Shirish Kunder and co-stars Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan. "Shirish hardly talks but his takings are terrific. Akshay and I had done one of my early films 'Sangharsh' together.

"It's so strange to hear people in New York talking about my 'Sangharsh' rather than 'Salaam Namaste'. Akshay is great fun... As for Salman... no uneasy moments at all! It was all cool!

"I believe the forensic experts back home have declared the tapes to be untrue. Thank god the clouds of controversy have lifted. I am getting a little tired of being put right in the middle of crises when I have nothing to do with them."

Back home the media is buzzing with rumours that Preity will play Sonia Gandhi.

"I would love to. I have a lot of admiration for her. What a life! And what a staggering range of emotions to portray for an actress!

"But I haven't been approached for the role. I have met Jagmohan Mundra once briefly about two years ago. And that certainly had nothing to do with Sonia Gandhi."

She added: "I needed to re-orient myself. 'Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna' is so different from 'Jaan-e-Man' which is fun and a cool casual entertainer. Karan's film is different!"

ZAYED MARRIES WITH MALIKA

Bollywood's Khan brothers seem to be very excited these days. And why shouldn't they? After all their sons are getting married according to the family tradition. First, we witnessed the marriage of Sanjay Khan's younger son Zayed with his sweetheart Malika last week. The auspicious occasion was graced by the who's who of the film industry. As reported earlier in these columns, Zayed had been busy sending personal invitations to the honored guests, numbering 1500, according to his family sources.

All the arrangements for the marriage were made directly under the supervision of bridegroom's mother Zarina who is a famous interior designer. Earlier, the Sangeet ceremony was held at Grand Maratha Hotel. However, on the auspicious day, Zayed wore a sherwani designed by Shahab Durazi while Malika wore lime green lehenga choli designed by Adarsh Gill. We may recall that another Khan brother Feroz Khan will marry his son Fardeen with Natasha Madhwani next month.

Shah Rukh Khan had flown down from the US to attend the wedding. The marriage ceremony was witnessed by Celina Jaitley, Danny, Govinda, Aishwarya Rai, Ritesh Deshmukh, Jackie Shroff, Priyanka Chopra, Riya Sen, Hrithik with his wife Suzzane and Esha Deol besides many other well known personalities from almost all walks of life. However, among those who stole the limelight were Amrita Arora and Saif Ali Khan. While Amrita Arora arrived at the venue with her boyfriend Usmal Afzal, Saif Ali Khan came there along with his girlfriend. Aishwarya Rai was seen dressed in a saree, so were Esha Deol and Priyanka Chopra. Esha wore a white embroidered saree and Priyanka a pink one.

SRK, Aish together

Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai will soon be seen together not on the screen but on the stage. Both of them will participate in a show to be held on November 16th in Doha. They are doing a charity event "Reaching Out to Asia" there along with a Canadian singer Bryon Adams. The daughter of the Aamir of Qatar is organizing the event where all the performers will join a dinner graced by various celebrities. Hopefully SRK and Aish will be able to charm the foreign audience!

Global Diversity Award for Aishwarya and Jackie

European Union will honour Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai with the Global Diversity Award for being an international symbol for diversity here on Thursday.

Hollywood actor Jackie Chan will also be presented with the honour at the one-day conference on 'Celebrating Diversity in the European Union' at Lord's Cricket Ground here.

"Aishwarya Rai is a symbol of what Asian women can achieve and a real international symbol for diversity," Keith Vaz MP, and Co-Chair of the conference said Vaz said the conference will help EU to "refocus our goals and inspire the minds of leading individuals across Europe."

"We are in dire need of a fresh approach to integration and of finding inspiration in a diverse environment which recognizes and nurtures the talents of all people within our great European community, regardless of religion, culture or ethnicity," he said.

The conference will feature a special interview with Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Will Ghai sign Salman?

There are reports in industry circles that showman Subhash Ghai is going to sign Salman Khan for his next movie. This is to recall that some years ago Salman had allegedly slapped Ghai at a party. As a result, the relations between Salman and Ghai had turned sour. Although Salman's father Salim Khan had apologized to Ghai for Salman's behavior, the relations between Ghai and Salman never turned friendly. Now, there is buzz that Ghai is planning to sign Salman for his forthcoming movie. Has Ghai pardoned Salman?

Priyanka will wear wig?

Priyanka Chopra has been in a dilemma recently . As is well known that she is doing Rakesh Roshan 'Koi Mil Gaya - Part II Kris'. Significantly, she has trimmed her hair to appear in a new getup in this movie. But in another movie of Subhash Ghai she is supposed to look sexy in her old getup . The movie director, Satish Kaushik, has allowed Priyanka to use wig in his movie to look a sexy girl.

IS SAMEERA ENTICING AJAY DEVGAN?

Sameera Reddy has had a somersault. She is no longer what she used to be in her 'Maine Dil Tujhko Diya'. Not in the distant past, she had declined offers of the Bhatt camp to act in its 'Murder' and later those of 'Julie' and 'Hawas' on the pretext that bold and sexy scenes have been introduced in these movies contrary to the demand of the scripts. However, the failure of her 'Maine Dil Tujhko Diya' changed her mind. She decided to immediately shed her light image.

No sooner she acted in Ram Gopal Verma's 'Darna Manaa Hai' in the central character of a glamorous girl, than she attracted the viewers' attention. Later, she turned still bolder in Sanjay Gupta's 'Musafir'. This movie made her pose a challenge to her bold colleagues, including Mallika Sherawat known for their sexy image. This is to recall that Sameera was the first to get an offer to act in 'Murder', and Mallika Sherawat got it only after Sameera declined it.

Isn't Sameera going back to her old image? "Yes, I changed my earlier image of a non-bold girl in 'Maine Dil Tujhko Diya' to a bold one in 'Darna Manaa Hai' and still bolder in 'Musafir' as there was a demand for bold movies in 2003. However, the viewers' tastes changed again towards the end of 2004 in view of mushroom growth of sexy movies. Even Sanjay Gupta had to remove some bold scenes from 'Musafir' due to the failure of bold movies. At present, she is shooting for Anees Bazmi's 'Benaam' with Ajay Devgan.

Has she developed any special relationship with Ajay and posing a danger to Kajol? (Earlier, other actresses including Aishwarya Rai and Mahima Chaudhary had tried to entice Kajol's husband Ajay Devgan). This doesn't seem to be true as she says, "I am acting with Ajay for the first time. He is very serious on the sets. Kajol comes to the sets with their daughter whom Ajay likes too much." In spite of this, Sameera is frequently seen mixing with Ajay Devgan after the shoot. This may be a guess as she was earlier alleged to be thick with director Sanjay Gupta. Besides, Sameera has denied on oath that she has not yet found a boyfriend named Fabian in Goa. She says she is acting in Budhdev Dasgupta's Bangla 'Kaalpurush' as a matter of honor. "Besides, I have acted in a Telugu movie that has been faring very well. My co-stars in this movie are Chiranjivi and NTR's son".

Can Sanjay Dutt bounce back?

Sanjay Dutt, who made his debut way back in 1981 with Rocky, is still going strong in Bollywood.

Unlike his contemporaries -- such as Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor -- Sanju can still churn out hits.

But the 46-year-old actor seems to be in the news more for his off-screen doings than his films.

The Mumbai police alleged he had a hand in the Mumbai serial bomb blast conspiracy in 1993 that killed hundreds of people. He spent more than a year in jail and was released in 1994 on bail by a Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act court.

But, with more than 100 films to his credit, the actor is still a box-office star.

"He is a survivor," says veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. "Any other actor in his place would have collapsed by now but Sanjay is made of metal. Like his father Sunil Dutt, he has proved that he can come back on top anytime in spite of crises in his life."

Bhatt was one of the first directors to see Dutt's potential, when others in the film industry had written him off as an actor.

"When I directed his first major hit Naam in 1987, I found out that he was innocent at heart," Bhatt recalls. "He is very talented and there is an aura and attraction in him that people love him to see on the screen."

When it was alleged that Sanjay knew beforehand that terrorists would blow up the Bombay Stock Exchange in March 1993, actor-turned-politican Shatrughan Sinha reorted, 'Don't be ridiculous. He doesn't event know what a stock exchange is!'

Sinha stood by Sanjay even when the Bihari actor's party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, was demanding Sanjay be punished for his 'role in the Mumbai blasts'.

Not many people know Shah Rukh Khan suggested that Sanjay play the protagonist in Munnabhai MBBS. Yes, it was SRK who told producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra he should cast Sanjay Dutt.

The film went on to become such a big hit that it inspired Kamal Haasan to remake it in Tamil (called Vasoolraja MBBS), and Mira Nair to buy the rights of the film. She hopes to remake it in English as Gangster MD, and cast Chris Tucker in the lead.

But Sanjay has had his share of ups and downs. He started with hits like Rocky and Vidhata in 1981-1982, and then had a series of flops. He bounced back in 1987 with Naam and Kabzaa in 1988.

In 1990, when he did Thanedar, Sanjay proved he could be a good dancer too -- with the hit song Tamah tamah, with Madhuri Dixit. He scored another hit with Khalnayak, once again with Madhuri, in 1993.  

But that was when his luck ran out, and he got into trouble about the blasts case.

Even after he was released, lady luck seemed to have ditched Sanjay. All his movies bombed. And then, Mahesh Manjrekar's Vaastav happened in 1999.

Sanjay bounced back into the big league.

Apparently, Manjrekar did not know how to approach Sanjay. He simply landed on Sanjay's sets and told the actor he had a role for him.

"Sanjay agreed to do the film though I didn't even know him then. It is his greatness that he gave me a break at that time --when I was nobody in the film industry," says Manjrekar.

"If Sanjay Dutt was professional in managing his career, he could have been the top star of our country. There was a time when he was neck to neck with the top actors but he slipped because he gave more importance to friendships in the industry than his movies," says film trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

"Sanjay made some wrong choices. But today, he is in the 'A' list of actors. He is the darling of masses and continues to get the best projects," he adds.

The big question is, can Sanjay Dutt bounce, again?

"Baba [Sanjay] has a very strong personality. He comes from the family of Duttsaab and the great Nargisji. All that contributes to his personality. Everytime he is written off, he comes back with a bang. He has the charisma and can come up any time in life," says his close friend Manisha Koirala.

"He has tremendous goodwill in the film industry. He is innocent at heart, caught in wrong situations -- just like his character in Naam. He will come out stronger every time he is put down," Bhatt declares.

'I challenge John to a race'

Will John Abraham take up US Commercial Consul Jim Cunnigham's open challenge?

He's tall, single, American, good-looking, has a distinct flair and is sending out an open invitation to actor John Abraham to race him on his Segway bike!

Says the affable American Commercial Consul to Mumbai, 44-year-old Jim Cunningham, "I'd like to race him on my Segway, with him on his bike.

I challenge John to a race and I'll even give him a headstart. And I'll win." And what's the Segway? It's a 'bike' available only in America that operates on balance and is designed to go just about anywhere.

And Jim is in love with it! Which is why he's openly challenging John for a race. Jim, who's been in India for about three months now, says, "Mumbai's people don't allow you to get homesick.

People are always making you meet new people, taking you to new places." So, why challenge John? "Well, we're just teasing a little bit.

From what I understand, besides his acting, he's known to love bikes. This is just an interesting proposition and I've got him smoked," says Jim.

John Abraham's special appearance in Shikhar
  
It抯 raining special appearances in Bollywood! After Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivadasani in Deewane Huye Paagal, Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta in Ek Ajnabee and Abhishek Bachchan , Karan Johar and Juhi Chawla in Home Delivery, it is the turn of John Abraham to make a cameo in Shikhar. He will be playing himself in the movie. Interestingly the movie stars Bipasha Basu as its female lead. Wonder if it had something to do with a John being roped in?

Directed by John Mathew Mathan who made Sarfarosh years back, the film stars Ajay Devgan, Bipasha Basu, Shahid Kapur and Amrita Rao. This is the first time that John is doing a guest appearance in any movie.

Baru saja namanya dipuja gadis-gadis di India, bintang tampan Bollywood, Zayed Khan, dah pun menamatkan zaman bujangnya pada usia 25 tahun pada 20 November lalu.

Sebelum ramai yang gigit jari, Zayed dengan terus-terang memberitahu majalah Filmfare:

'Saya tak fikir usia 25 tahun tu terlalu muda bagi seorang lelaki untuk berkahwin.

'Saya juga tak rasa saya perlu tunggu sehingga saya mencecah usia 32 tahun atau 33 tahun untuk berumah tangga sebab sejujurnya, tiada usia yang tetap untuk mengakhiri zaman bujang.

'Bukankah segalanya harus datang dengan sendirinya? Tak semestinya, gara-gara kerjaya, saya harus menundakan perkahwinan saya. Saya sudah mengenali isteri saya, Malaika Parekh, sedalam-dalamnya.

'Lagipun, ada banyak manfaat berkahwin muda. Sempat rasanya nak bermanja dengan anak-anak sampai mereka dewasa.'

Bagi Zayed, beliau sedikit pun tidak menghiraukan isu peminat wanitanya berkurangan, malahan, mendapati bilangannya bertambah 'sebab ramai yang tersentuh dek janji setianya kepada Malaika'.

'Memanglah saya tak dapat nafikan banyak godaannya dalam dunia Bollywood. Tentunya, kadangkala, saya rasa tertarik dengan kecantikan pelakon wanita yang digandingkan dengan saya.

'Tapi, ia hanya setakat daya tarikan semata, setakat curi-curi pandang dan berkawan macam biasa.

'Prinsip hidup saya mudah. Kalau saya amat cintakan seseorang, saya akan rasa terlalu bersalah seandainya saya tidak setia kepadanya. Saya serahkan segala jiwa raga saya dan diri saya secara fizikal, mental dan naluri kepada Malaika,' jelasnya.

Ditanya mengenai imej 'budak jahat' ala penyanyi Robbie Williams yang sering dipaparkannya, Zayed berkata beliau sukakan imej itu sebab ingin tampilkan sesuatu yang lain daripada lain.

'Tapi, secara umum, saya masihlah si anak kecil yang mampu bertolak ansur dengan komen dan kritikan orang lain,' katanya lagi.

Menurutnya, beliau banyak belajar tentang kejayaan daripada sepupunya, Fardeen Khan dan Hrithik, sendiri. Kejayaan, tambahnya, tidak harus dibiarkan menguasai kehidupan seseorang.

'Lebih banyak kejayaan yang diraih, lebih tenang seharusnya jiwa seseorang. Sebab, kejayaan ini adalah sesuatu yang aneh. Ia boleh memusnahkan hidup anda kalau anda tidak berhati-hati.

'Anda menjadi tokoh awam apabila berjaya dan anda mewakili 'jenama' anda sendiri. Secara tak langsung, anda jadi insan baru yang perlu berhati-hati. Macam saya - dah tak boleh jadi si 'kaki pesta' lagi. Dengan kejayaan, datang pula tanggungjawab,' katanya penuh berfalsafah.
