NIBONG TEBAL: Local residents and temple committee today staged a protest against the state government claiming they were side-lined in the Kg Ladang, Batu Kawan land sale deal.

Resident group chairman, G Manogaran, 60, claimed that the DAP led Penang government had ignored their request for meetings to discuss the matter.

He said that his family and others like him has lived in the area for five generations and their voices deserved to be heard.

"They should at least listen and consider our demands and not make decisions without any discussions," he said.

Meanwhile temple trustee V. Mathiyalagan 61 said the developer, Penaga Pesona Sdn Bhd (PPSB) is not only evicting the residents from their homes, but plans are afoot to demolish the 200-year-old Hindu temple.

More than fifty residents protested in front of the temple today representing the 20 families who are worried about their future.

There were more than 120 families living in the area, but residents claim that only 100 families were offered compensations in the form of a lease sale house unit in a public housing project as well as RM30,000 in cash.

The land located on Lot PT5258 is now owned by PPB after they purchased it through a sale and purchase agreement dated March 31, 2011, involving the Penang Development Corporation (PDC).

Itu estet belakang mari juga bikin sama itu kuil dulu sudah dua ratus taon banyak lama kalo

itulah akal keling ni, tanah sapa2 main ceroboh je lepas tu buat kuil dari kecik ke besar, lepas tu nak roboh tak boleh, memang celaka dorang ni ... kat mana2 dorang ni sama je ... dasar keling.

kat area kmpung aku, ada satu kuil tu, zaman aku kecik2 tahun 1992(tadika)...kuil tu setakat  batu berhala yg diorg bina bawah pokok je... sejak masuk tahun 2001-2005 mcm tu, kemain dh naik kuil, beso pulak tu..
