Takuya is top draw on TV
JAPANESE actor Takuya Kimura has proven, yet again, that he's the sure-win ingredient in a hit drama.
The first episode of his latest serial, Pride, which has him playing a hot-shot hockey star, has scored a 28 per cent rating.
It is by far the highest-rated drama, beating other dramas starring his fellow Smap members.
Incidentally, all five of them play leading roles in five different dramas that started airing recently.
Scribes naturally compared their works and it seems Takuya is in the lead.
Masahiro Nakai lags behind slightly, at 26.3 per cent for Suna No Utsuwa, while Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's Boku To Kanojo To Kanojo No Ikiru Michi drew an 18.9 per cent rating.

Last summer's Nippon TV scandal, in which a producer admitted he'd bribed monitor families into watching his program, has compromised the Japanese ratings system, but no matter how skeptically you regard such numbers, the ratings performance of the pop group SMAP during the first month of the new year can't fail to impress.
In the week ending Jan 11, NHK's new Sunday night historical drama "Shinsengumi," which stars SMAP's Shingo Katori, dominated the competition with a 26.3 percent share in the Kanto area. That number seemed unbeatable until the following week, which saw the opening episode of Fuji TV's "trendy dorama", "PRIDE," starring Katori's colleague (senpai) Takuya Kimura, take a whopping 28 percent. In fact, during the week ending Jan 18, the top three rated programs were "PRIDE," the variety show "SMAP譙MAP," and the premiere of the TBS dorama "Suna no Utsuwa (Vessel of Sand)," which stars SMAP leader Masahiro Nakai. Even "Boku to Kanojo to Kanojo no Ikiru Michi," which stars another SMAPper, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, premiered with a 19.3 percent share, placing fifth overall for the week.
The popularity of the idol group, whose members now range in age from 27 to 32, has ceased to be a phenomenon that demands analysis, and the high ratings were certainly no surprise. However, some people were surprised when it was announced more than a year ago that Katori would star in "Shinsengumi." NHK's "taiga drama" is a cultural institution, a yearlong serial about an important figure in Japanese history ("taiga" means "great river," as in the "river of time"). And while NHK always uses idols in taiga dramas, Katori is the first to play the lead role, at least while still an idol.

yup, he's definitely the best singer in the group! kite dah beli SMAP Live MIJ '03, memang Takuya cute sangat dalam concert tu...kakkoi ne! SMAP members yg lain pun nampak kakkoi...tapi rambut Tsuyoshi serabai lah...
Kalau dah beli MIJ '03 tu, jgn sampai addicted pulak  ...but then, watch out for:
- the sexy dancing in the first part...
- the slow songs/ballads rendition...(one of my favourite segments)
- Solo Corners: Tsuyoshi tapping away, Shingo's mini musical, Nakai's outrageous performance, Goro's sexy solo...
- Takuya's solo corner ROCKS!...
- Takuya's fluid and slick dancing...
- Takuya smiling and 'flirting' with the cameras throughout the show!

hmm, tak taulah tu...takut dah takde je kat Jepun...everything on SMAP sells out like hot cakes over there, even if there's no promotion, SMAP fans will always know where to find these things, and SMAP fans are so many! lagipun, VCD/DVD/VHS MIJ '03 dah lama release akhir tahun lepas...better be prepared!
no sweat though, nanti kite cuba tanya a few of my friends kat sana...maybe they can tell us something!
