oiitt tt..bagi la artikel penuh apa dap ckp...isu sebenarnya.kalau psm nak increase kerusi bertandin ...

PETALING JAYA, Feb 14 – Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) has been accused of acting as spoilers for planning to field candidates for one parliamentary seat and five state seats currently held by the DAP in Perak.

State DAP chief Nga Kor Ming said it was clear PSM wanted to split opposition votes in three-cornered fights that would involve the Barisan Nasional and the Pakatan Harapan coalition, of which his party was a member.

“Why are they not fielding candidates in seats held by Umno/BN in Perak. It is obvious they are not with the opposition,” he told FMT.

Nga, who is Taiping MP and Kepayang assemblyman, said this in response to an announcement last week by PSM committee member S Arutchelvan that his party would contest five parliamentary seats and 12 state seats in selected states in the 14th general election.

Arutchelvam said PSM welcomed anyone to contest under its ticket as long as they fulfilled three criteria: agree to declare their assets, not play dirty politics and open a service centre in the chosen constituency.

In Perak, PSM intends to contest the Batu Gajah parliamentary seat and the Buntong, Jelapang, Menglembu, Tronoh and Malim Nawar state seats.

Nga said PSM leaders did not make any appointment to meet Perak DAP or the state PH leaders on seat negotiations.

“PSM appears to be repeating the mistake it made in the run-up to the 2008 and 2013 elections where its candidates lost badly, with the exception of Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj,” Nga said in reference to the PSM candidate who won the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat under a PKR ticket in 2013.

Nga said voters in the Kinta Valley, where the DAP won nine seats in the last election, were not easily fooled by PSM’s conduct to place its candidates in this region.

He said, for instance, in the last election, PSM fielded Sarasvathy Muthu for the Jelapang seat but she lost badly by garnering 2,568 votes in a three-cornered contest which the DAP won. Teh Hock Ke collected 16,921 votes while BN’s Mokan Subramaniam secured 4,655 votes.

“In this election, PH is going into the contest to win power to govern Perak and Putrajaya,” he said.

Nga said it was also an irony that PSM had unveiled its manifesto that appeared to look as if it would implement policies and programmes should its candidates win.

“In Perak, they are contesting five of the 59 seats at stake and how are they going to serve the people if they are not in power?” he asked.

Nga said PH would contest all the state seats and seat negotiations among PH partners – DAP, PKR, Amanah and Bersatu – were progressing smoothly and an announcement could be made at its state convention on March 10.

In the 2013 election, the now defunct Pakatan Rakyat (PR) that consisted of PKR, DAP and PAS won 28 seats while the BN won 31.

In the 2008 polls, PR was voted into power when it won 31 seats, with the BN taking 28, but 10 months later the government collapsed when three of PR’s assemblymen defected to become BN friendly.
