ONE CABIN BAGGAGE POLICY

Effective 01 August 2004 Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAB) will commence the
implementation of the "one cabin baggage policy" at all airports in
Malaysia. The move has the support of the Airline Operators Committee (AOC)
KLIA of which Malaysia Airlines is one of the 38 members.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers
during flight, as excess cabin baggage is a safety hazard and an
inconvenience to passengers especially during an emergency. The unaccounted
weight can also adversely affect the safe operations of the aircraft while
overloaded overhead compartments pose a danger to passengers and crew.

Cabin baggage is defined as luggage that can be hand-carried into the
aircraft suitable for placing in the overhead compartment or underneath the
passenger seat in front. The dimensions of the cabin baggage should not
exceed 56cm x 36cm x 23cm or 22 ins x 14 ins x 9 ins. Cabin baggage
exceeding the prescribed dimensions shall be accepted as check-in baggage.

Cabin baggage test kits will be made available at the entrance points to
the passenger check-in area at the departure hall.

Check-in staff are to request all passengers to show their cabin baggage
and advise passengers of the "one cabin baggage policy".  When in doubt,
staff are to use the cabin baggage test kits provided at the check-in area.

MAB security personnel at the entrance of the departure lounge will ensure
passengers comply with the "one cabin baggage policy". Passengers not
complying with the policy will be returned to the check-in counter to
recheck the bag as checked-in baggage.

Economy class passengers will only be allowed one piece of cabin baggage
while business and first class passengers may be allowed an additional
piece of cabin baggage, which must conform to the same dimensions.
Exemption tags will be issued for the additional piece of cabin baggage.

The 38 members of the AOC KLIA have also agreed to allow passengers to
bring the following items into the cabin without exemption tags. They are,
ladies' handbag, fully collapsible baby stroller, reasonable amount of
reading material, laptop, camera, overcoat, infant food basket, shopping
bags for goods purchased at the airport, and crutches.

Airline staff at the boarding gates will carry out final checks on
passengers. These airline staff will also be responsible for the control of
cabin baggage for transfer passengers. The only passengers exempted from
this one baggage ruling are VIPs who are cleared through the VIP lounge and
airline crew in uniform.

These controls and restrictions on the number and size of the cabin baggage
allowed into the aircraft cabin is in accordance with the International Air
Transport Association's (IATA) Recommended Practice 1749A on the Carriage
of Cabin Luggage.

oooo tu aku ye kan laa... tapi kan, macam tak berapa ikut je prosedure tuh! pax kalo bawak masuk luggage dalam kabin ader yang besar gedabak sampai dua tiga bijik lak tuh... dia punya berat toksah nak cite laaa... errrr, gorund staff tak perasan ker? atau sajer malas nak layan pax 'mengong' camnih...??!! yang mengangkut ke atas o/head comp. tuh crew jugak... bukan nyer nak berkisah, kalo setakat 2, 3 bijik beg tuh takper la, tapi kalo dekat 100 pax bawak bag camtuh, patah pinggang bebb...!!!!!

Nampaknya kakitangan kat KLIA tak strict sangat pasai benda ni....hari tu ada satu pasangan dengan dengan anak mereka yang berumur dalam 3 bulan naik kapal 4 beg...kesian aku tengok laki dia dok galas kiri dan kanan pas tu kena taruk 2 beg lagi........?

bukan masalah strict tu..kitaorang la yang paling linient sekali...
cuba kita selami sebab musabab kenapa depa tak chck in bggage..
mungkin tak mo bayar excess baggage ka..ataupon memang takmo chck in bag tuh..maybe ada stanby susu ka..pampers ka...barangan peribadi yang lain...
kekadang ni manusia ni mcm2 ada...
jadi dalam hal ni tak leh salahkan staff la...kitaorang kalo boleh nak chck in suma..
bio korang jalan lenggang kangkung....
lagi satu kalo depa tak mo chck in bag tu tak kan kita nak paksa...
sebenarnya byk pihak yang perlu memainkan peranan kalo nak implimentkan..
01 bge fr 01 pax only...pihak airport security...serta pihak2 yang berkenaan didalam dan luar negara...tak kan KLIA je buat..tempat lain tak buat...
susah ooo..nanti kalo ada bagasi tu tak leh masuk kapal..nak salahkan staff KLIA..tapi pax transit dari LHR ka...FRA ka...kat sana depa tak strict..
bukan kata tak boleh buat tapi perlukan komitmen dari ramai pihak....

Bukan pindah rumah budak_kampung barang kerja dan alat memasak aku. Dulu dari Khartoum ke Dubai aku kena dekat USD 250 excess beggage naik Emirates tapi sector Dubai - KLIA free jer kerana ada ENRICH tu.... dekat 60Kg total luggage yang aku bawa tu.
