MALAYSIA recorded 1,104 Covid-19 recoveries yesterday, bringing the cumulative number of recovered and discharged cases to 41,597.
This was the second consecutive day that the number of recoveries was higher than new cases reported which was at 1,096.
Health DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the total cases, only six were imported cases bringing the total active cases to 12,843.
Selangor reported the highest number of cases at 603, followed by Sabah (311), Perak (55), while Pahang, Terengganu and Sarawak did not report any new cases.
The high cases in Selangor stemmed from the clusters, especially workplace-related clusters, namely the Teratai Cluster with an increase of 502 cases.
Sabah, on the other hand, recorded an increase in case detection among close contact screening at 139 cases,he said in a statement yesterday.
A total of 72 cases reported were related to clusters in the Temporary Detention Centre and prisons involving the Tembok cluster (42), Bakti cluster (16), Rumah Merah cluster (four), Sandakan Prison cluster (four), Seberang Perai Prison cluster (two), Reman Prison cluster (two), Kepayan Prison cluster (one), and Matambai cluster (one).
The continuous recovery of data higher than the new cases is a warning to everyone that Covid-19 cannot be relaxed at all times, and protection is both to protect yourself and others.
