Investigations are taking place into whether cases of a rare type of blood clot are connected to both the Oxford-AstraZeneca and the Johnson and Johnson coronavirus vaccines.
The link between the AstraZeneca vaccine and these rare clots is not yet proven, but UK experts say the evidence is getting stronger.
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), which advises how vaccines should be used, is recommending healthy people under 40 be offered a different vaccine.
What are CVST clots?
CVST stands for cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. Put simply, this is a clot found in a large vein in the brain.
Blood normally travels through veins from the brain back to the heart.
The CVST clot can block the flow of blood in the brain, reducing oxygen supply and potentially causing damage - stopping the central nervous system from working properly.
Rare clots have also been found in other areas, such as the large veins in the abdomen, in people who have had the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab, and, in a handful of cases, in some arteries (the vessels carrying blood from the heart to organs).

Up to 19 May 2021, the MHRA had received Yellow Card reports of 332 cases of major thromboembolic events (blood clots) with concurrent thrombocytopenia (low platelet counts) in the UK following vaccination with COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca. These events occurred in 180 women and 151 men aged from 18 to 93 years and the overall case fatality rate was 17% with 58 deaths. 17 cases have been reported after a second dose.
Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis was reported in 120 cases (average age 46 years) and 212 had other major thromboembolic events (average age 55 years) with concurrent thrombocytopenia. The estimated number of first doses of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca administered in the UK by 19 May was 24.2 million and the estimated number of second doses was 10.7 million.
The Yellow Card scheme is a mechanism by which anybody can voluntarily report any suspected adverse reactions or side effects to the vaccine. This includes all reports received from healthcare professionals, members of the public, and pharmaceutical companies.
How can I tell if I have one?
Anyone who has any of the following symptoms 4 days or more after having the vaccine should seek prompt medical help:
A severe headache that is not relieved by painkillers or is getting worse!
A headache that feels worse when you lie down or bend over.
A headache that is unusual for you and occurs with blurred vision, feeling sick, problems speaking or drowsiness.
Seizures or weakness.
Shortness of breath.
Chest pain.
Leg swelling.
Persistent stomach/abdominal pain..
A rash that looks like small bruises or bleeding under the skin

omputeh ni mmg senang dapat darah beku sbb saiz dorang besar.. naik flight lama2 ruang sempit pun dorang blh dapat.. anak buah husband sorang dapat masa pregnancy.. masa tgh pantang sebulan meninggal.. his nephew tinggi besar bawak grab.. donno la if bcoz of drive lama2.. ruang sempit or old injury.. dia pun kena pulmonary embolism and died... both muda lagi.. bahaya btol kalau ada darah beku ni.. walau apa pun punca nya
Boleh pegi check cakap untuk thrombosis. Klinik Kesihatan ada lambat kan PKP ni, x semua ada tapi free. Private pon ada mahal sket tapi cepat. Rasanya kat KL Ampang Puteri ada, Pantai meols x sure..procedure cam biasa amek darah dulu. Kalau sis was2 ler ..
