In fact in 1990, i have walked along the track on jurong line from bukit timah station to jurong station (a small station), suprisingly i saw a class 24 with a brake van crossing the 1st level-crossing there into the 2nd branch. at that time the point to that branch is still intact. now the line is cover with brush, not quit possible to walk again and point removed. i have photos of that, will scan it up when i got my scanner back.
the level-crossing to PSA is my favourite location, before kepple road re-alignment in 1985 for AYE. too bad i did not have a clear picture of the old depot (which is now the AYE). my office is very near to the brickwork branch at bukit merah, the empty strip of field is still visible (behind IKEA). the woodland branch is now the exact site of the road. 2 years ago, i have found a very small brick abutment across a stream which i think is for the railway bridge when at that time the line ends at pasir panjang.
recently the widening of the road (for the overhead bridge) construction had it demolished before photos were taken. i am actually studying old map to locate the exact location of the ayer rajah branch near tanglin station which i think it crosses portsdown road. i am about to finish the web site about s'pore mass transit, have not post it up yet. Malaysia rail web page is currently 'in construction'... |
