1. We've all heard the phrase, "Don't judge a book by its cover." Have you ever picked up a book based solely on the title or the picture on the cover?

2. Along the same lines, do you ever look at whichever book someone else is reading in public or whatnot, and based on that make a snap judgment about their character or literary taste? (I realize this might not seem all that clear, so let me give an example- for instance, whenever I see someone reading War and Peace, the first word that pops into my mind is "pretentious." Most of the people I've known who carry that book around just do it to get attention and demonstrate how "smart" they are, when they actually never get past page 10).

3. Do you buy books online? If so, where is your favorite place to find them?

4. From someone who's had more than a fair share of library fines... what is the largest late fee you've ever incurred at a library for returning a book past the due date? Have you ever borrowed a book from a library and never returned it?

5. How many books do you own (and if you're not a nerd like me and don't know the exact number, guess-timate)?

6. Do you keep books to add to your personal library, or do you trade them/give them away?

7. If you keep books, what makes you keep them? What kind of books do you keep?

8. Do you have a guilty pleasure book- something you would never want to admit to reading?

9. Have you ever gone without something you needed to buy a book instead?

10. Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?

Alchera Project

The idea is to create several lists on different categories of beautiful things. For example, you can make lists of beautiful places, beautiful people, beautiful words/sayings, beautiful paintings and beautiful expressions; this is merely an example, as you can create as many lists with as many categories as you抎 like. You should have at least 5 items under each list.

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

------------------------------------------------
sorry it's ff: but i'm a bit of a narcissist and i believe everyone should read this ..:lol

How many [entomology] books do I own?

Last [entomology] book purchased.

Last [entomology] book I read.

The five [entomology] books that influenced you the most.

Five others [who at least sometimes write about insects or invertebrates] to tag with this meme:

* you can respond to the meme in it's original form -- all books -- rather than entomology books or any types you like.
